FIRST CLASS????????? NA LIE I BEG. IF NA JOKE, MAKE UNA STOP AM BUT IF NA TRUE, MAKE HE PUT HIM NUMBERS NOW N SEE IF HE NO GO WORK FOR OIL COMPANY THIS MONTH.
EVEN A FIRST CLASS STUDENT NA AUTOMATIC LECTURER NAAA, MAYBE THAT PERSON DE LIE.
In 1998 when we graduated, the same happened for some people but there was no twitter to beg with. Stop making it like its a function of this administration. Nigeria hasn't been fair to the brains.
that's sad, in this era of change i just hope he gets a job no matter how small... abeg who get filling station? try and employ this guy for now... just kidding
It is well my dear don't give up on anything because challenges like this come hard so we can be prepared for tomorrow, I thank God for my life why cause I was jobless for 7 years and everyday of my life then I don't go a day without crying cause I thought I would never make it with my 3rd class decree but here I am gainfully employed with a well paid salary not to say you with a 1st class degree, it's not how far in life but how well it ends... don't wait for a job that would pay you, go to any firm you think can give you some experience and work with them for free with all your heart, but God first and trust me u would be compared as the best than those who are bn paid trust me your star would shine, God makes the impossible possible... I wish you good luck.
I am also a 2.1 graduate in guidance and counseling and I just completed the service program. I have something like this posted on my facebook account too because you never can tell who can be of help
In as much as I do not wish to sound unsympathetic, being a first class graduate does not and should not automatically entitle you to a job. This is why you go to school in the first place- to learn how to use your brains. The most creative people I know are those who don't bother going to school and they make more money than even graduates in airconditioned officers
You that went to school and be creative does not know when to use "brains". Shut up! The Nigerian educational system does not in anyway prepare you for life! Like you said creativity is not a function of education! Not everyone is capable of thinking outside the box. It is all this forced creativity that has resulted to all the failed businesses in that country
This is a typical example of why I now believe that University Education should not the ultimate plan for everyone. Rich dad, poor dad is a good book to read once you have kids. Don't push them to make good grades so they can get good jobs in oil companies etc. All na wash.
@Anonymous- October 14, 2016 at 11:15 AM- no need to tell me to shut up- this is exactly what the problem with Nigerians is, you tell others to shut up when making a point. Most education systems do not prepare you for life outside university- read my comments again- just because he has a first class degree does not mean he is entitled to automatic employment- there are plenty of jobs in Nigeria but is he prepared to do so jobs? You can use your brains to apply yourself to anything- even if it is cleaning toilets but is the man in question prepared to do that? Even graduates in Lagos today are driving taxis but is he prepared to do that? Even if he doesn't have a car, he must surely have something to put to use to make something for himself. Everybody who wants to be something in life must start from somewhere- you can't just assume that a graduate should automatically land employment. Many Nigerian students that I know are hardworking and clearly capable of supporting themselves without parental help- they didn't need an educational system to prepare them for life after school. But then again, you are clearly too stupid to grasp the nuance of a simple argument.
When we rum an educational system where students only read to pass, they just read handouts and textbooks, write exams and alas if you can cram well you score high. This type of education has got to stop there should be practicals, there should be field training whereby undergraduates do a year training in their field of study they get to have live, practical examples, their skills are tested and honed this is what education is about to open your mind to the possibilities available not to read and pass. I'm sure this fella is a read to pass student if not as a first class graduate he or she should be able to come up with an idea to create something.
WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE INSTITUTION YOU COMPLETED YOUR DEGREE FROM? YOU SHOULD GET AUTOMATIC JOB THERE NOW.OR YOU DON'T LIKE THE OFFER?. ARE U SURE YOUR STORY IS REAL?
Its either he's lying or he went to a quack school.. All 1st class students are always open to so many career opportunities even from from their 200L in all good schools. Maybe he stupidly missed out on some opportunities sha! All the best man
Linda it is sad however it is not uncommon even in developd countries. I live in Canada and I have lots of friends graduate with no job....this is not uncommon. They just do other jobs...like cashier at th grocery store or anything to make them survive. Our problem in Nigeria is that..... we can not take anything...no dignity in Labour
A first cclass is automatic lecturer so he lies, you can't make first class n not impact the next generation, so linda it's a lie, Nigeria university retain first class students.
