Photo from the scene of expatriates' kidnap in Calabar

Pictured is one of the Toyota Hilux vehicles that the kidnappers opened fire on in Akpabuyo district near Calabar, the Cross River state capital on Wednesday, June 22.

The gunmen shot dead a Nigerian driver and kidnapped three Australians, a New Zealander, two Nigerians, and a South African from a worksite in Calabar. The workers are employed by Perth-based mining and engineering company Macmahon Holdings.

The expatriate contractors according to sources were driving in a convoy of 4 vehicles with the kidnapped persons in one of the two SUVs in the convoy along with two Hilux vehicles.

The hoodlums who were said to number up to 30 were also said to be heavily armed and battle ready prompting the security personnel attached to the expatriates to scamper for safety.

Maybe things will be back to normal when Nigerians stop calling God all the time, instead of doing the right thing.

Some persons will blame the police here in actual sense what can only four police men attached to them do to counter 30 well armed daring militant if they stay the die because there won't any helicopter or swat back up unlike advanced countries the big question is proliferation of arm how did we get here? The simple answer is corruption.

It was a gory scene. Tim croot has been flown back to Australia. No word from the kidnappers so we don't know what their demands are. The navy are seriously searching the creeks for them. Will keep u posted.

Why kill? Why not just abduct whomever you want to abduct, why take a life? Too bad. I just pray the culprits are found and brought to book soonest!

If you had armoured hilux cars from armormax nigeria it wouldnt have happened.visit armormax.com for details its an american company with a branch in Nigeria or mail me gunjuone@yahoo.com for details. Better to have armored vehicles than to pay ransome to kidnappers.
