Aisha Augie-Kuta, a Nigerian photographer and SSA New
Media to Kebbi State Governor posted the photos, revealing that only
three out of the children pictured here attend school. "The
future! Only 3 of them go to school, we must work together to uplift
the girl child. They create brooms on farms." she wrote.
A
recent report by UNICEF said that about 10 million children are
currently out of school in Northern Nigeria. Most of these out-of-school
children are girls residing in rural areas. Unifef officer in Katsina
State, Shehu Mohammed, identified poverty and socio-cultural and
economic environment as reason for poor enrolment of children in
schools.

Sometimes it is not about the fund. North had serious socioeconomic, cultural and religious issues. You can fund but do they have the will power? Because so many are out of school they see it as normal not to go to school. A lot of work needs to be done.
