Photos: Nigerians scoop fuel from fallen petrol tanker in Abeokuta

This happened at Ibara, Abeokuta this afternoon. A petrol tanker fell with some of its content spilling on the ground. Desperate Nigerians who are presently suffering the effects of the lingering fuel scarcity decided to scoop some of the spilled fuel into their jerry cans. More photos after the cut...

What a country. The very commodity that generates over 90% of the nation's revenue is bitingly scarce to its people. This is one phenomenon, which occurs at least once every year, that continues to baffle me. Can you imagine a nation that chiefly produces only, say sugar, yet suffers from its scarcity!!! It's unheard of. Only in Nigeria!!! Who will deliver this country from this managerial ineptitude?

Unknown said...

That's too risky cos petrol is highly combustible. It's more combustible than kerosene and diesel. Should I call this poverty or greed? Why risk their lives?

Unknown said...
