Photos: Spring Valley High School students stage walkout in support of fired South Carolina Officer

Hundreds of students at Spring Valley High School in Columbia, South Carolina, black and white, staged a walkout on Friday in support of school resource officer Ben Fields, the deputy who was fired after being caught on video flipping a student out of her desk.
Principal Jeff Temoney confronted students after they convened in the school’s atrium and told them their voices were heard no one would be “suspended,” but they needed to return to class.
“We’ve heard your voices, OK? We appreciate you taking time to do this, but again, as you know, we always focus on teaching and learning, so let’s head on back to class,” he said.

Spring Valley Principal Jeff Temoney said that the protest was “an orderly student-led activity.”
“Our students and our staff were safe and are on campus,” Temoney said.
Temoney said at around 10 a.m. about 100 students gathered in the school’s atrium to express opinions about Fields’ firing in relation to the video.
“I addressed the students to let them know that we understood their need to make their voices heard,” Temoney said. “Then I reminded them that Spring Valley high is all about the business of teaching and learning, so it’s time to go back to class.”
Students then returned to class in an orderly fashion less than 10 minutes after the protest began, Temoney said.
Several videos of the walk out surfaced on Twitter shortly following the protest using “#bringbackfields” and “#bringfieldsback.”

Some students were reportedly wearing T-shirts with “#BringBackFields” printed on them, others were heard shouting “Free Fields.”
A student-recorded video of Fields aggressively arresting a female student quickly went viral, with many people claiming the officer used excessive force.
Fields, in a statement through his attorney, maintained that he took “justified and lawful” action during the incident.

Firing was too much a punishment to me, I would have preferred he got suspended.

BringBackFields the girl was wrong, he was wrong but not wrong enough to get the sack! The authorities acted rashly because they didn't want to deal with any backlash from the black community.

Peaceful protest? Nice of them but the last time we tried that, the police fired shots.
That was how we lost Kingsley Udoette.

This is really charming and cute. I am very happy that it's the kids that are protesting the man be brought back. It's good to see kids their age uniting for one cause... I hope the man will be allowed to go back to that school based on the good works he has done for them.

The kids must love the man, which in itself speaks volumes on his character! I still stand by my thoughts, black people tend to disregard and be extremely disrespectful of higher authority, it's a simple thing, obey the law and be fine, otherwise be prepared to face whatever comes your way! Simple, some of these blacks are the cause of their predicament, she should have obeyed and left, rather she thought being rude and unruly was the answer, next time she should drop her ghetto ass attitude at home! My friend's mum worked as an administrator in a high school in NYC, not only did these kids verbally abuse her, some will taunt and have even spat at her! Leave the ghetto no good attitude at home!

It was about 100 students, about 5% of them at the school.

Ah yes, I'm sure you'd be typing the same trash had he flung your daughter across that room and she sustained injuries, like that little girl. Thank God you're a self hating nobody who excuses reprehensible behavior from behind a keyboard. Meanwhile, the people with real power like this guy's boss had the sense to fire him and remove him and his rage from among those kids.
