A Nigerian Owned Digital Company In The UK Is Changing The Lives Of Nigerians In Diaspora & At Home

Over the last 10 years, Career Insights, a subsidiary of Digital Bananas Technology limited in the UK has been adding extreme value to the lives of Nigerians in Diaspora. With over 330 success stories being rolled out each year, Nigerians in the UK & Canada have been securing life changing digital project management and business analysis roles paying up to £132,000 a year, that’s an equivalent of N48m a year.

This year, on the 14th of November 2015, Digital Bananas Technology will be hosting their 2nd DBT Awards ceremony.

Career Insights is the brain child of Keji Giwa, founder and CEO of Digital Bananas Technology and each year all successful candidates are celebrated at the DBT Awards ceremony (www.dbtawards.co.uk). The DBT Awards was introduced in 2014 to reward excellence, innovation and hard work of its candidates. Since the launch of the first award ceremony, the company has gained recognition among employers and recruiters as the go-to place for hiring the best digital Project Management and Business Analysis professionals.
This year 2015, they have received a record number of high-quality entries, seeing an increase in success stories by 65% percent above 2014 entries! Digital Bananas Technology also became an accredited digital training company by the Digital Marketing Institute. They are now licensed to train and accredit UK and Nigerian delegates at diploma &masters level in digital marketing coupled with practical work experience in delivering digital solutions. Through the prowess of the digital medium, they now have over 2,600+ plus professionals within their ecosystem and support groups, adding value through personal mentoring and eLearning facilities.

With over 100,000 fans on Facebook, all their candidates’ success stories are shared on their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/careerinsightstv). These candidates have secured life changing roles with companies such as Shell, HSBC, Barclays, Accenture, Oracle, Microsoft, Royal Bank Of Scotland and so much more. As they prepare to set up their work based learning centre in Nigeria this 2016, we felt it was only appropriate to showcase the immense value they have added to the lives of Nigerians in diaspora and let our fellow Nigerians know they are setting up in Nigeria pretty soon.
They deliver acomplete overview of the essential digital marketing disciplines, giving their candidates a competitive edge over their peers when it comes to securing project management and business analysis roles globally.  The best part of the Digital Bananas platform is that you can gain practical work experience from anywhere in the world and in your own time. The platform bridges the gap between qualification and expertise. A great deal of people have the knowledge gained from a degree or masters but lack the applicable understanding and work experience required to be hired by top blue chip companies.

Digital Bananas leverages your time and energy as well as amplify your impact so as to unlock your true income potential!
Their popular training arm Career Insights (careerinsights.tv), offers a fully comprehensive and well blended work based learning environment with senior leadership workshops, innovative projects to work on, inspirational sessions, as well as 1-to-1 mentoring to help over 30 candidate secure life changing roles each month. At Career Insights they are not just trainersbut also passionate researchers, analysts, consultants and most importantly, practitioners. Meaning, the insight and advice you get is completely up to date and relevant to your chosen industry so you can be confident what you are learning is cutting edge.
The best thing about what Digital Bananas Technology does is their ability to empower their candidates to take the big leap and launch their own start up companies regardless of the industry they specialise in.

This year they saw Nadine Wright launch her own fashion clothing line, Boastie(boastie.com) at the London fashion week house of Ikons show. The show was a complete success for Nadine and it followed up with immediate orders from major high street stores and fashion buyers.

She was able to do this through the work experience gained from Project Managing and Business Analysing a number of projects within Digital Bananas Technology. For the first time ever, they will be showcasing Boastie’s 2015 high quality Collection at the DBT Awards to celebrate her success

I live and work in UK and have personally been to the training at Greenwich. As the things told here in the story can be true, some are not true but cosmetic to ensure people are constantly ripped-off their money without providing quality online practical work experience that follows as purported, after going for the training. All they are interested in is collecting about 650 pounds, which was what i paid then back in 2013 and rush you off the one week so called intensive training that gives you little or no idea of what you ought to know. I will score it 55 percent based on the training and after-training online based practical work experience training. There are plenty ethnic biased sentiment and nepotism they display too in terms of giving reference and doing your CV. Money might even be collected before they do your CV as opposed to what was promised initially. I subsequently abandoned it and learnt whatever thing I know now by myself online and with the help of a friend that work in an IT environment as a Business Analyst. So all I am saying here is that you can learn on your own with the help of a friend you know that work in IT and save yourself the hard earned money you were going to pay for better things

@dalogo Throwing tantrums wouldn't help someone who ain't interested in putting the hard work on the battle field. All experience gained from DBT is not wasted. However determination would set you apart from getting the role you desire. Nobody promised that the road to success would be easy.

Fantastic opportunity for people to develop themselves for better career opportunities. CI gave me the confidence needed to change my career for the better. Can't wait to attend the awards and celebrate my success with many others !

Pretty strong accusation there however I think it will cost a fortune and a lot of brain wash to host an event celebrating all the success stories of candidates.

Also if you consider it as over 55% true and 45% not true why does it deserve to be called a rip off.

I think it's extremely unfair to make such accusations based on your own experience and then publicly trying to destroy the reputation of a company that has added so much value to people's lives.

I am more than happy to address every issue.

We don't charge to write your CV, we encourage you to do that yourself based on the experience gained. If you want to now pay a mentor to write your CV for you then they will charge you for it. That is not a rip off but a choice people have to make.

We are happy to know that you have secured a role now as a result of a friend helping you out however not everyone has a friend to help them out. Allow those who need the service to use it and make their own mind up.

If anyone is in doubt please pay us a visit and see for yourself.

I would appretiate constructive feedback but we cannot tolerate a personal vendetta against our company

Regards

Jessica, Digital Bananas Technology

Of cause pls stay away. If u'v been looking to change profession to BA and no longer be in a mundane roll, Stay Away. If u'v been looking to change profession to PM and no longer be in a mundane roll, Stay Away. If u'v been looking to change profession to PMO and no longer be in a mundane roll, Stay Away. If u'v been looking to change profession to Planner and no longer be in a mundane roll, Stay Away. He is such a fraudster that, even though people have never met him B4 they joined the course, so many people have landed their dream job and constantly growing in the business world due to the advance, constructive, proactive, drilling training he gave and is still giving them. He's such a fraudster that those people that got THEIR SUCCESS STORIES can now pay bills and enjoy life rather than claiming tax people's money or paying bills and wondering how to get food or enjoy life B4 the next pay day comes. He's a fraudster for sure esp as there are facts of the successful work he's done and accomplished, so pls stay away. Pls continue to stay away as that most Definitely leaves more room for the very serious human beings who want to get their life on track without depending on the next pay day or wondering where money will come from or due to unemployment do things that can be harmful to their life. Pls I plead with u, stay away.

Keji Giwa is most definitely not a fraud. I was one of his candidates and the experience I got from DBT was solid and helped me launch my career in project management. Please don't listen to haters and ignorant people.

@Dalogo...I choose to disagree with your hasty generalization. The fact that you were not patient enough to realise the benefits does not mean some other person would not/did not.
I am a proof that DBT is for real.. I joined in April, coming from an IT background, I got involved and worked with people of like minds to achieve my goal for joining the program; getting a job as a Business Analyst in less than 6 months.
As for ethnic based sentiment and nepotism, i'm sorry to hear that you feel strongly about this yet more people of various ethnic backgrounds, nationalities and races keep joining everyday; its not magic that's to show you that something definitely works in the system. The numbers and success stories are there to prove it.
Also remember that no system is infallible or fail proof, that's why organizations and individuals keep adjusting and adapting to change. (Hopefully you will understand it as you are a business analyst, no pun intended).

I personally happen to find the trainings and the live project experiences, engaging with the stakeholders invaluable. @Dalogo if your BA friend helped you or talked you through getting a job, good for you! Is your experience and is beautiful but is not everyone that has a friend like you to talk them through how to be a BA or PM, which I honestly think you can achieve by getting involved in the live projects and getting your hands dirty like we practise in DBT if you want to. I only joined DBT in July 2015 and I can gladly say the money I paid is the best investment I've made in my life and that's the fact. Keji thanks for the great platform. Hopefully I'll be able to share my success story very very soon. I'm definitely proud to be part of the DBT family and looking forward to the awards.

This is awesome. Well done Keji and your staff at Career Insights and Digital Bananas Technology. You are changing lives here in the UK..not just those of Nigerians but all ethnicities.
I have benefited from the intensive training, the practical work experience and being part of an ecosystem of over 1800 PMs and BAs.
I did my 1 week intensive training in PM and BA. It was practical and intensive. After that l immediately joined the practical work experience platform on Basecamp. There were over 25 live digital projects to choose from..talk of mobile app development...website development..CRM implementation!!!!
I took up various roles on one project ..attending meetings..writing reports..business cases..project briefs.project management strategies.monitoring RAIDs and project progress and plans. I got all round PM and BA experience(My choice because l wanted to be a hybrid PM). Within a few weeks l decided to challenge myself still within DBT.
I applied for a PM role for an office relocation project. This was new and strange because DBT is a tech company. It was good experience for me. The support structure in the form of weekly meetings with Programme Directors..Programme Manager and the Sponsor is out of this world.
In April this year l worked on my CV and had it reviewed by a mentor free of charge. I applied for roles..got an interview..worked with my mentor on interview prep and of course l aced it and got the job. At Cambridge Uni l met an ex DBT candidate who was working as a BA.
Now l work as a lT Project Manager. I am still heavily involved in live projects..why because l have over 1800 people for support and advice..why coz my eyes are set on the next level of Programme Manager out in the IT industry. At work l have been asked to mentor other PMs and l attribute this to the experience l got managing and mentoring teams at DBT.

Success is personal..l am happy that DBT is getting into Africa. Many lives will change.

God bless you Keji and your team. Your vision is changing families and lives.

Negative minds breeds negative outcomes. DBT has been a great platform for me. CI and DBT prepared me for my contract role as a PMO for one of the world's leading Banks. I'm forever grateful to Keji and the Team. I've gained so much in a small space of time. Haters will always hate. What you put in is what you get out of the platform. Hard work does indeed pay off. I only wish I came across DBT earlier on.

I am so excited about this launch into Nigeria, I know a lot of lives will be changed as did mine. God bless you Keji and the DBT family for making this move. I can't wait to introduce my family and friends. Whoop! Whoop!

It's easy to want to destroy what someone has worked very hard to achieve, helping hundreds of Nigerians in the UK and other places, not just to earn a living but life changing careers. I was a middle management staff of one of Nigeria's top banks. Left Nigeria for d UK to join my family. After my master degree in Economics and Finance, I decided to have a career change in Project Management. Sat for PRINCE2 foundation and practitioner exams and came out in flying colours. Unlike Nigeria where certificates are sort for rather than experience, I could not secure a role in Project Management for nearly 2 years until I went to Careerinsights through a friend's referral. My experience in Careerinsights gave me all I require to land my first lucrative consulting role as PMO Analyst. Since then I ve never looked back. I infact have been offered several contract extension in most places I worked. Not just me but several of my colleagues who trained in Careerinsights. At d moment my colleague at a multinational blue chip where I'm currently consulting also came through Careerinsights and Digital Bananas Technology. In any environment you find yourself my good friend, what you give is what you get. If you take what you are doing serious, you'll excel. Rather than come here to peddle false information and run down a young man like yourself, who out of his ingenuity has helped hundreds to land life changing careers in project management, I would advice you to emulate him. I'm a Nigerian of Igbo extraction. I never experienced any form of ethnic bias like you stated. I'm like many others, a living testimony of the great work Careerinsights and Digital Bananas Technology are doing. What you give in life is what you get. Don't expect to be spoon fed all the time. Hard work pays. God will continue to bless Keji Giwa, the MD/CEO of Digital Bananas Technology and his team. The sky is your limit. Keep up the good work.

The idea of getting people into the job market is great. I think the success stories are candidates who attended this training a long time ago. I am currently training in DBT. I do think it's a bad idea for Keji to expand to Nigeria. There are a lot of desperate Graduates in Nigeria who will fall for these stories and pay their hard earned money for this training, and get nothing out of it.

Keji, why do you want to reap Nigerians off their money? Don't you have a heart?

Yes, you've worked hard to bring the company to this stage, but why not focus on the current issues of DBT here in the UK, instead of rushing to make more money in Nigeria.

Money isn't everything, when you've collected all the money from poor desperate Nigerians, then what else, you'll buy the latest car, or build a mansion....and when you die, take all the money to heaven?

There are real problems in DBT UK, current Candidates feel like you've extorted money from them, 2500 people in your Eco system, limited guidance.

If you aren't careful the fraud watch TV will soon be at your back. Don't promise what you can't deliver, Basecamp is so overpopulated with closed and halted projects. DRY as hell!!!!

@ Anonymous. There is nothing fraudulent about DBT (Digital Bananas Technology Limited) and the management of the company. I enrolled on the BA Course with the Carrier Insight, completed the training and was actively involved in the practical experience after which i successfully secured a role with a reputable organisation in the financial services industry in the UK. There is no need to hide as anonymous to give bad reviews. let's be civilised, comment with your correct details let all the readers know who you are...

Really? We select the ones we want to help?

That would be true if getting a job was a simple work in the park where we can call the company and say hire this one don't hire that one.

People at Career Insigjts help themselves. We provide a platform for people to apply themselves and flourish. If you apply yourself you will be like those giving testimonies on here, if you don't then obviously you will say stuff like what you are saying here.

Point of correction, it's now 2,600+ on our ecosystem and your comment is insulting to all of them. Tell your own story but don't assume everyone is in your shoe. They will beg to differ.

We welcome feedback and don't appretiate slander.

Hi Opestan,

I don't understand your frustration and I will like to understand what you issues are.

Can you contact Alaere, head of mentoring and express your concerns.

We asked candidates to give their feedback and they have. Most positive with a few people like you who are unhappy.

They are obviously doing something right that you are not doing. Please call the office ad get guidance as you may be giving a bad review based on lack of understanding on how to use the platform to your benefit.

8 new projects got approval this week, I just got back from Nigeria with a view to join the list of mentors onc again abf everyone is excited.

You have my personal number as other candidates do. If you are not getting a response from anyone, contact me.

This is Keji here but I think it will say Jessica, one of my staff has been using the google account to respond but I am responding to you now.

Do get in touch

Regards

Keji

Jessica Stones said...

Get in touch directly with us to address this as you are clearly not getting the best out of what most are appreciating and seeing value in.

Please always call the office for support. If you don't you end up slandering the company name without addressing your own issue.

Jessica Stones said...

Please ask yourself this question then, the 200+ we celebrated last year for securing jobs, where did they come from. The 330+ we will be celebrating this year at the DBT Awards, where will they be coming from?

My suggestion, express your issues to the head of mentoring, contact your own mentor, find people on basecamp who are doing well and rub shoulders with them else you will be disgruntled and make very little progress.

It's not fair that most of my candidates have great things to say based on their own Succes stories and you don't. Let's help get you on the right track.

Nigeria we will break into and help as many as we can. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to stop that however you don't want to be singing the same old song while people in Nigeria are now having their own success story to share.

Jessica Stones said...

Truly inspiring thank you so much for this and we hope a great deal of candidates in Nigeria will gain practical work experience and share a success story like yours pretty soon

I think a lot of people are quite negative about everything in life and it beclouds their judgement. This platform helps people work on live projects to acquire hands on experience, so they can demonstrate this to employers, with confidence!

You can learn a few things from a friend who is a project manager or business analyst, but they can't develop live projects with real monetary investments to use in training you with. As a candidate on the CI platform, I find this invaluable. Sometimes people just need to be a little positive to make progress.

Tosin Oguns said...

Since joined Career Insights and Digital Bananas as a platform in August 2015, its been a good experience, learning, long nights in numerous meetings. There are people who I know who have got jobs. The training and training videos were really good, Work experience on live projects that cost tens of thousands of pounds which helped me get intouch with the projects team at work. I considered money well spent and definitely will get a PM related job with the help of my mentor next month. They could invest more on the support network to make it more encompassing.

To be fair to DBT I'd give them thumbs up for the platform. The problem with a lot of people is havinghigh expectations without hardwork. It definitely doesnt work that way. Its not magic.

I sincerely pity the individual that made such degrading comment about the person, who has been so sincere in helping other people to achieve their dreams and aspirations. Na just cheer bad bele! You have to learn to appreciate exceptional and generous person, such as the CEO of DBT. For me, the decision to train at Career insights, was a blessing indeed, not only am I ever closer to my dreams, but I am proud to be part of life changing experience, by practically working on various projects at DBT. The experience has given me the confidence to apply for roles, knowing the support is available, and that I can bolding work in any capacity, within the role that I seek. Please! Let us learn to appreciate and support our own, and stop being miserable, because a man chose to do the right thing
