It really would not matter how bad she was being treated now because in that she was not killed. I don't think walegates was defending her. He was just making a point abt treating ppl (esp domestic workers) with respect. I actually don't like the Ify chicks tone, maids aren't serfs just cos U pay them. In the end tho, the maid could've quit if she felt that strongly abt the being home for Xmas.

No excuse for murder, but MOST nigerians (especially women) have a nac for mistreating thier domestic staffs. Its Christmas, you know how bubbly & family oriented we are in this kinda season. Yes! Maid or no maid we are all ppl and we all got folks we want to spend (one of the most important) holidays with. Some ogas really need to stop seeing thier maids as lesser humans. we all have our treshold, therefore capable of dispicable things when reached. the help had probably been saving up all year 2 spend some time with family/friends. You have no right to hold anyone against thier will, that's modern slavery. In any case, She should be punished but this should serve as a warning...don't fuck with ur child's care giver cause its the innocent that takes the fall! Whatever the verdict may b, a 3yr old has been murdered (she aint coming back) and for what? Some woman's selfish interest. I think our system needs to come up with some 'domestic employer/worker' act to better protect both parties n avoid tragidies like this.
