Speaking today to journalists in Abuja, the NUT National President, Comrade Micheal Olukoya, said teachers should only resume if the government provides them with necessary preventive & protective gadgets on Ebola virus. Continue...
NUT president Olukoya said;
"Where the federal government insists on the 22nd September, 2014, date in spite of the wise counsel, the union will rather direct teachers to resume schools whenever they are sufficiently trained and their schools have been provided with the necessary preventive and protective gadgets. For the avoidance of doubt, the teachers have this day, resolved to resume classes in obedience to the federal government directive, in states where teachers have been trained to handle any outbreak and all the required preventive and protective gadgets such as hand gloves, sanitizers, infra-red thermometers, running water and soaps have been provided as directed by federal government of Nigeria. In states where the training has not been done and necessary safeguarding gadgets not provided, teachers shall continue to remain at home until their state governments respond positively or the union directs them to the contrary”.

We just have to go step by step! Internal confusion shouldn't cause added commotion! It is well. Psalm 46:1. BishopDammy#

When two elephants fight, the grass suffers.
The health ministry should have involved them at the initial stage.

I know why FG are not responding to their need in other for them to resume. Even if the info from the minister of health is true, I believe protective & preventive garget should be provided for them
BORN TO SHINE!!!
FG should sack all of them.plus, including the pupils/students.Abi wetin una feel?
Please Oga GEJ allow d October date to stand and forget d children for ur October 1st celebrations. Have u thought of how difficult it would be if we have ebola in d villages ? We have enough threats to our lives from Boko Haram. Please do not add ebola. It is d living and d healthy that will go to school. Listen to NUT.
Trouble on d run-way
#sacking tinx on FG's mind#
#Skaler#
Pls give us an accurate date for resumption...confused pipo!!!
Let the Drama begin! Even we Lawyers no dey go court for dis New Legal Year about to Start except we are provided with anti ebola wigs and gowns
It is because Lagos and PH are urban arears where facilities are available hence the success achieved so far on ebola. The case will b different if in d villages. Let us not take things for granted. To me schools should resume in January, 2015.
Okay now they spoken!!! Wen there is too much talk and less action that's what u get, the teachers are not ready to risk their life's and parents are not ready to risk their children's life as well. Less than a week to resumption and all this are not in place goes to tell us one thing that this govt has no plan 4 us.
I think the government should really have change of mind. Since the dead victims have kids they might infect their pairs at school. And an epidemi spread faster amongs youngsters
Lwkmd! Teachers no wan dull 4 dis mata oo... Abeq who an die? They shld do ways best 4 dem jaree
Ohhk ooooo.
Na wa o. Govt should provide dis and dat. All dis petty thing can be provided by school authorities naa. One day pple will ask govt to put food in dia mouths. (Ntichika)
All this cos ebola #bright bravo#
I wonder wot u pple re saying. How possible is it dat some states will be is session while others will continue to stay at home? NUT is not making any sense dis time.
Haha I fink that's a good idea so it's up to FG n ministry of health lol ebola must Go
Stupid teachers just looking for opportunity to make noise
Linda tel de NUT dt dey re mas
Nw na strike go b d next thing cos dis our greedy govt no go lay dwn a kobo. Dey barely giv a fuck abt its people
Chai! Nigerian workers can be so lazy... They can not tell me dat dey are dat all dis is only bcus of d ebola
That is ur business. U can keep them at home. But shame unto u wen I will ur kids at school.
It would have shown by now if de were infected
My dear, january is too far thick of SS3 students, their waec & neco it will affect them.
So what's your point Bishop?
Will govt provide parents with replacement children if their kids are infected and die? No!!! Govt cannot replace children o!! Common thermometer govt has not provided. Pls be real and stop suggesting early resumption. What is the reason for this suggestion for early resumption? Selfish.
Ignorant pple lyk u r d problme nig have
is it not who is alive and healthy that writes exams?
So, these lazy set of people don't to go back to work and later they will collect salaries ? May be they want to lazing around @ home
Those saying teachers are lazy should stfu! I am a teacher and I am in support of NUT. Did they not say not even a case of Ebola before the ph case sprung up? What of the ph doctor's wife has she been cured ? What of preventive measures? I am a form teacher and the no of students i teach in a class is about 200, the classrooms are so small that you can't decide that no student wld come near you as a preventive measure. You wld have to squeeze through sweating students just to teach. With serious heat and odor emitting from the classroom. We have been able to manage the situation but with this Ebola threat it is way too risky! My life is important to me Biko!
if u ask me,i would say;by the grace of God our country Nigeria is Ebola free.cos this is a virus that does not take much time to show, from all indication we ve not had any case so far.so?
NUT has lost its original focus it shud not use useebola as a bait to call 4 strike soap. Water, hand towel disappeared in schs over d year and general hygiene it was 4m hand wok sales of each class that was use to provid these things the teachers too are corrupt
Precaution mehn, odiwia serz...
who would blame them, this situation is a potential time bomb
gud jare
Abeg school should resume jooor aaaaba how many gadget do govt want to provide? Instead normal sensitization and precaution measures must be undergone by all school's administrators.......
Be self employed Online just click on my name
Will EVD have a cure in October?? Still no! Will our children stay at home without education til there is a cure?? Still No! So if day wil resume in Oct why won't day resume in Sept.
Some teachers don't want to go back to work probably dey have other engagements before their surprise change of date. Dey shld go back n wrk, they r d only career dat get 3mths holiday or more per year! #jealous lol
Some states should resume nah
Annoy 2.03 ! Na U̶̲̥̅̊ sure pass !
My children cannot die ooooo! I don call lesson teachers †̥̥Æ ̴̴̴͡ dey come my house ! No be A for Apple be my problem now ooo!
They keep talking about handwashing. Have they also taught the students how to defecate, urinate, not to cry and sweat? The same teachers that have been trained on EVD will flee from any student who suddenly throws up and develops high temperature from ordinary malari.let's wait till Oct 13th and be double sure. Wats d hurry?
We have handle this Ebola situation very well and I believe it time for schools to reopen.
