Now we know the truth. America cannot really be bothered by Africa's issues. When Obama was elected people here where rejoicing that a black man with african roots was the american president and we expected favourable policies for Africa. Now we know that they really dont care. Since there is a drug Zmapp that cured two americans successfully, why not make it available to those dying of this plague. Was it approved when it was administered to the americans? Tthey can even use the africans infected as guinea pigs for the clinical trials...i'm sure those infected won't mind. However, i underscored partly cos we need to use our brains to right the wrongs and resist neo colonialism. We have not done that yet but i am optimistic that africa will eventually get it right. But there is a proverb that says the mother hen will first drive away the hawk before chastising the chick for wandering. We need to drive this plague now...so we need the drug. In the eyes of God, one life is just as important as the other , be it African, american, asian or whatever.

I wouldn't fault Obama too much. The reality is the drug was only effective on 43% of the primates it was tested on. This may not be a cure with bad numbers like that. Other experimental drugs are out there with 100% cure rate of primates. The FDA has already authorized the release of the other drug with the higher cure rate. Plus, it has already started a safety test in humans.
Tekmira from Canada has been working on this for years. I've found four companies that have been working on a cure for years. Tekmira is the one furthest along with the highest success rate in pre clinicals treating primates. That's the one I'd want to try if I were sick with ebola.
