Lindie,as an authority on this issue, substandard phones can contribute to poor network. We once had an issue where a top man on a certain network couldn't attach on the network. We tried his SIM on another phone and it worked. The phone was a 'powerful' phone hence its not about the cost or aesthetics, but if it meets the requirements of the network. However,the operators need to work on the quality of their networks too as this is just a minimal, if not negligible percentage of the causes for poor network

And all those of you who keep buying UK used and branded phones or cdma phones then complain when you start having issues, OYO. Se know networks in naija have a long way to go, but trust me, I work in customer care 80% of complaints are caused by bad phones or so called uk used phones.

I don't know if substandard phones can contribute to poor network but one thing I know for sure is that the issue some people experience on their phones, such as their phones showing "sending text message" often is usually as a result of substandard/china phones. I work in a telecommunication company as a customer care agent so I know this. But it so annoys me when customers call and start shouting as if its an issue with the network not knowing its their phones. My advice is if such happens again, do a hard reset and if it doesn't stop, just kindly exercise patience, it will stop by itself. Or better still, change your phone if you can.

The problem with we Nigerian is that people hardly have to to research on issues before making comments. People make comments on things they have no knowledge of. Mr Ojobo said that low quality phones contribute and not that it is the only factor, which of the commentators have taken time to research on this matter. Not even Linda herself has taken time to empirically verify that assertion. There are too many educated illiterates who claim to be experts on what they know little about. Low quality phones of course impact on the network integrity as repeated calls due to poor phone signals lead to repeated calls which clog the network thereby causing congestion. Low phone quality is indeed a factor. Linda also try to educate your followers. A lot of ignorance was manifested here.
