Ben, who worked with Diamond Bank, Gwarimpa, Abuja, was
said to have had about N2million cash in the trunk of his car at the time of the accident, but the bulk of the money has yet to
be recovered, according to his family. His body and wrecked car were evacuated from the scene of the accident by the police, who said they only recovered N800, 000. The late banker's family, who has since been buried, insists there was more money in the car. Continue...
Benjamin Idim's father Ita Idim said:
A Police Public Relations Officer in the FCT said the family needs to understand that the police was not the first responders at the scene of the accident.“We went to the police at Utako and they handed over two phones and about N800,000, which they said was recovered from the car. Later we learnt that the money in the car was more than the amount the police gave us. The bank also confirmed that he had more than that amount with him. If the police can hand over N800,000, you can be sure he had more than that in the car. The Nigerian Police Force can’t give all the money they recovered.”
“Are they
sure the police were the first to arrive at the scene? Besides, saving
the boy’s life would be their priority, nobody would be checking the
boot of the car to know whether he had money there or the amount of
money in the car,” the officer stated

R.I.P. Ben. Moral lesson! buy a german product. linda, i know you like the Range rover; You have my blessings to go ahead and buy one. *smiles*
It's only God that knows who took the money. But again, I don't trust the police , talking from experience (meemee).
Most accident scenes r crime scenes. Lots of cases of ppl stealin frm the dead.
By the way, why would somebody have 2 million naira cash in d trunk of his car, driving frm place to place?
so sad may his soul rip
May he RIP, Nigeria na wa for una ooh.
Naija police I hail ooo.. dem don share money. ..
May his soul rest in peace, my mum knew him personally and she said he was such a cool, calm and good guy; one of a kind, he just started the job with diamond bank. The sad truth is that the NPF has kept 1.2m out of the money, let them fear God and return the rest to the family cuz karma will always come calling.
I am even surpried they presented 800,000. Police I know would have said they dint see any money. Na today?
Lol...our dear police force has done justice to d rest am sure...heheheheh. xmas festival. May his soul RIP
Omo them see 800,000 dey complain?! If to say them no see kobo nko? Trust Nigeria police, they can disappear a whole house if it will help their cause. But I am not saying they took the money, I am just saying they are capable.
Lol...our dear police force has done justice to d rest am sure...heheheheh. xmas festival. May his soul RIP
Its well, I think it was planned and how did he have that much in his trunk? RIP
And I ask maslf y steal abt 1.2mil n leav d rest?Dis dsnt fit d profile of a real thief or passer by on a rescue mission.I feel d police knw abt d moni dan dey r telin d relativs.I xpected d response of d police PRO,it gvs credance 2ma suspicion.#myopinion
Nigerian police with distrust! What do u expect from an institution that will gladly steal from the dead, the parents are even lucky to have seen 800k because the police is not that generous.
HRH EKEH
Signed
The police actually returned 800,000. The family shld be happy we all know hw the police r so dy shld stop d pretense
Very sad. But really, what can his family do about dis? Wh8ever took the money is not going to give it up. And i have been at a car crash scene before, the priority is never to get victims to safety. Ransacking for valuables is top priority. This family should just grive in peace.
Nothing is transparent in dis country....
the family shld be hapi d poplice returned 800,000.we know dy took sum part of d moni so dy shld cut d pretense
Naija police eh, may his soul RIP!
This story doesnt add up? Where does a 25yr old banker who is most likely an entry level officer; get N2m cash from? And why carry it around in ur car at night?
It was the guy's money not their money. The family should be more concerned about mourning the guy and not how much he had in the boot before his demise. Let whoever 'stole' a dead man's money bear the brunt afterwards.
R.i.p
May his soul rest in perfect peace,Nigerian ploice sha*lips seald*
Police ! Police !! Na their way

May yur soule rest in peace
Hehehe Nigerian police o!
I read in the papers that it was his friend he gave the money to keep for him that said he gave him the cash that day. How are we sure his friend gave him the cash.
I don't trust Nigerian Police... But everything is clear to God!

RIP ......
Biko where did dis guy get that kind of cash from.....
.
.
Very funny and foolish statement by the police PRO. Of course the policemen would go after the money before saving any lives. Does he think he is talking to foreigners who don't know better? We are Nigerians and we know what those vultures called policemen are capable of doing. It is possible they even caused the accident.
Lol naija police
May the soul of this young man RIP....sad, sad sad.....
If Olopa can return 800k den dere must have been like 5 million in that car! ...#Word#.....Am suprised they even returned any part of it.

Ehen! Even in death, the police is still not your friend!
They have stolen and now trying to tell lies. Shame! lol
RIP to the victim. Sad how many people die around this time I cannot understand why!
Trust nigeria police they must have removed some of the money before anything. An ordinary man would take all the money and the phones. All this police are thefts, the family of the deceased should just collect the money like that & forget about the remain ones becos the rest is story.
Odikwa serious... RIP bro
This thieves we have in this country call police. It wa them that took the money. Even this useless KIA motors see Н̲̣̣̣̥ow the car folded as if they used plastice in building it. Useless care that are not even accident free a bit. Rest in peace bro. It hurts you died a painful death at U̶̲̥̅̊r age.

Naija police sha, d police is indeed ur friend. Awon ole....

Dis is bad, nigerian police we no u guys collected d money nd dis is very bad cos if u managed 2 bring 800k den dat shows d money in dat car was so much dat u pple felt bad 2 collect evwyfin,nd apart 4rm dat if oda pple had got 2 d scene b4 d police dey wuldn't have left any money, dey wuld have taken d whole bag instead of removing sm cos I can bet u dey wuldn't have d time 2 do dat.Plss NPF dis is a disgrace,I no u pple won't admit bt d whole of Nigeria knows 1.2M is wif sm of u,u pple beta change b4 u meet dsame fate.
Ejor??

Nigerian police with their dirty way of life. So shameless!
May your soul rest in perfect peace Big Ben and its better not to comment than saying what you don't know!

Abi na youthful exuberant dey do am

A different agency should be setup to prosecute the police cos they are worse than armed robber.
That's naija police for you, they can't be trusted.
R.I.P bro
Dis one wey 9ja police return a whole 800k trust dat dey av times two of it already. 9ja police, I hail una
See defence o. So if anyone got there ahead of the police the person would gave taken all the gademn money. Why leave 800k when they have nothing to lose?
D money is not a problem to the family infact dey don't need it,we sud feel sorry for dis family instead of posting all manner of stuffs. He worked in a bank and jst got confirmed,is it a bad tin 2 go and celebrate for those wandering were he got d money from...he lives on in our heart.
Rip young guy,
The police officer is so daft, and just contradicted him self there buy supporting the boys family.
He says the police weren't the first to arrive at the scene then he goes on to say "saving the boys life would have been their priority and no one would be checking the trunk"
So this means the first people to arrive at the scene would have been all about saving the boys life and the trunk was only opened after the police took the car away.
The police should return that money idiots, they didn't know the family would find out the true amount.
Rip Big Ben we surely gonna miss u May your perfect soul rest in peace .
RIP BENJAMIN
If it were first arrivals, no dime wud be left in dat money. The police took dat money.
Rip my dear friend, we attended diamond bank test 2geda, you just started living ur dream RIP Big ben
This accident happened around 2am in d nite. Dont know who informed d police abt d accident. Up till now noone knows wat truly happened dat nite. You are a big fool for this statement. That money won't be a blessing to the thief that stole it. Foool!. It's Because of foolish mentalities like yours anonymous 11pm that Nigeria Is like this
How come we cannot see any airbag in this Kia, or is my eyes not good enough. God saves so also is airbags!!! All this corners we cut in Nigeria because we don't have standards...... RIP.
That's why those of us who are alive shld keep thanking God for our lives even whn we think we got "nothing" for Xmas*winks*
Check this out! has anyone been told that before the police could call the family the car was towed to d police station before day brake? Now who called for and paid for the towing van? Why was an ambulance not called? Why is the car he ran into still packed at the accident spot? When did the Nigerian police start clearing accident scenes at night.... Help me answer abeg.
Whn u wnt to comment,choose profile;google account,sign in/sign up with ur gmail account.choose a profile photo.its easy,try it.
somebody died and it is money dat has become issue.......wat is d parents concern with dat money...wen their son is dead.so dey will feel good to use dat money to purchase sometin.....and where did d banker gt 2million in cash from?....d talk shld b abt life n nt money.
OMG!!....i know this dude from utako, abj. Its so so SAD!....RIP Ben.
Mumu!.....bcos his parents cld pay N1.5m in fees dont still answer the fundamental question why a 25yr old young man had 2m cash on him? Its retards like you who dont look at the big picture and ask the main questions!
What was the man doing with that huge amount in his private /official car without escort?
How did the Bank and the family know the exact amount of money with the man at the time of the accident?
What is the source of the money?
It was the insecurity in the mind of the man that led to the accident?
Hmmmmn naija police twale 4 una... R.I.P young banker
Nigeria police sef
Naija Police I hail oooo,
so many things nigerian police have done wrong
I knew the guy personally. He attended to me once when he was still understudying someone a few months ago. Such a nice guy. Driving in abuja is scary. Everyday you go out, you see a fatal accident. Anonymous 4:29 PM. Range Rover is a British car NOT German.
If i may ask, what is a banker doing with such an amount in the light of the cashless policy?
Even though accident can happen at anytime, but we should learn to move at speed that is commensurate with a given environment that we can convienently control in the case of any eventuality.
Also, make sure ur car is in good shape mechanically and electrically.

We are our biggest problem in this world! Everybody is quick to accuse the police like the police was there waiting for the accident so they could puck the money.we all know our approach to helping in crisis" look n scream" mentality.now how did the family know how much he was carrying? Was it not possible for the police totally deny seeing the money? Pls let's be objective in our criticism .
we just got to drive more carefully this days!! NO need to rush to anywhere, cuz either to run, fly, walk or crawl, you will get to anywhere God has destined for u in life.RIP BRO.

Once in abuja, he gave my brother a lift from the airport into town. A cousin to my neighbours in calabar. The 3rd of such deaths in the family occurring about the same period of time in different years. Lord have mercy.
You are very stupid, is that why you are here?
Rest in peace man, but as for Nigerian police I don't trust them.
