This sad incident occurred on Monday night May 27th along Airport road in Mafoluku, Lagos. A trailer carrying heavy duty rods lost control and fell on a car with three people inside.
The three occupants of the car, two men and a woman, were staff of Zenith Pension, Victoria Island. The two men, Ovie and Sir Kay, lost their lives, while the lady survived with a deep cut on her head.
Rescuers managed to bring the lady out of the car that night after they heard her shouting she was still alive, but the two dead men were left in the car wreckage until the following morning when their colleagues showed up at the accident scene. Sad! May their souls rest in peace, amen.

OMG.. This is so sad.
Sir kay attends my church at oke-afa isolo.
He wanted to drop ovie and the woman at their house when the accident happened.
He's left behind his wife and his 3 kids.
May his soul rest in peace :(
How saddening! A separate line has just gotta be created for heavy trucks, its just not safe with them plying the same road with smaller vehicles, and most of their drivers are so reckless! May they rest in peace, amen!
Only if the country has a good rescue operation team, we could have saved their lives, govt to place put good structures in place to safe guard human lives and properties please for Gods sake. May their souls rest in peace

Na God be our strength o!
A similar thing almost happened to me and my crews on our way to service an etisalat site in Buguma (Rivers State) this past Saturday along the East-West Road. The steering of the Car i was driving pulled out and the car iimmediately entered the path of an on-coming trailer heading for collision...head-on! It was just God's Mighty Hands that shifted the car again from the trailer's path to the middle of the road as it just missed us by the whiskers. I then managed to apply the breaks to prevent it from crossing the other side of the road. Na so me and 4 other engineers for take die o... Baba God always on point!
Only if we had responsive rescue team in this country, their lives would have been saved. This is a clarion call to govt to please place more premium on human lives and property by availing basic social amenities upon which the public can leverage on. Am sure if you call 911 in the US, rescue operatives will wade in
Only if the country has a good rescue operation team, we could have saved their lives, govt to place put good structures in place to safe guard human lives and properties please for Gods sake. May their souls rest in peace

Haba Linda, that person is someone's loved one o.The pain is still very raw and i dont see the need of showing someone's corpse especially in the manner they died.just out of respect for the dead and their family...
Amen, ah so much bad news today again for road accident and seems a norm in this country that address should be happening. I have never heard a leader said they will curb road accident like other social vices they strive to stop. Major contribution is from our leaders. Our road network need thorough planing and development. May their souls rest in peace.

This is so sad. Who said they were dead as at the time of the accident?! They could have just lost consciousness and needed quick medical attention. Why did our pple wait until the next day?!!! There could have been a chance to save their lives! Its so sad about this country. Really really sad. We just don't value human life to do what it takes to save lives. Rest in peace and my condolences to the families.
@PrinceJobless, in as much as we are 170million peeps, we don't need fags like you around.you are just a bastard of an illegal immigrant.
U stupid cunt, we don't need ur ugly and dumb ass here, Nigeria is already bad enough wait it is.
shush, shut up Prince jobless, with your selfish, useless and pathetic comment...must you comment?? attention seeking disease; u need cure!!
LINDA YOU HAVE TALKED ABOUT THIS THING BEFORE.
I REALLY WONDER WHEN OUR THICK SKULLED AUTHORITIES WILL ENFORCE SAFETY STANDARDS FOR LARGE DUTY VEHICLES!
Omg! Really sad. RIP. Its about time something gets done about our roads. heavy duty vehicles should have thier own routes. Road safety officials should sit up! Every human life is important.
U r pathethic

OMG really sad......May he's soul RIP!
that guy probably didnt die right away but of course they left them overnight and they died thereafter. o ma se o
U jobless fool accidents happen anywhere in the world! I think Nigeria will be better without one more fool.
May the souls of the deceased rest in peace. But I have to add that it is not just about soul resting in peace every time we read sad and avoidable death news. It is time Nigerian government created a department of public safety that works alongside the ministry of transportation and save the rest of Nigerian road users. It is prety simple, just enforce the existing laws on traffic, drunk driving, road maintenance, vehicle inspection/road worthiness, and innocent lives will be saved. IT IS VERY CLEAR THAT ROAD SAFETY HAS FAILLED!... PATHETIC.
This life self...You don't where it will happen. May their soul RIP Amen
Y does every bad news in dis country happen in Lagos?
Jehovah God pls guide and protect 4rm untiming death...RIP 2 dose who lost deir life and which d lady quick recovery by God grace.
Left them till the next day, that's just bizarre. That exclusive, what if they were still alive or who pronounced them dead? In all, we all need to be prayerful. Similar thing happened to the v.c of covenant university on his way to the airport. But thank God for his grace,God spared his life.

So sad!
Daft mofo!
May their souls rest. Nigeria will copy the irrelevant things abroad but nothing dt will add value to lives! Big trucks should travel at night Frm 10PM !
How are they sure the guys were dead? They could have passed out. But trust our poor emergency rescue system, always inefficient . From the report, it seems like it was ordinary pole passing by that got d girl out. I'm eager to know how they arrived at the conclusion that the men were dead at that time.

So Pathetic.....RIP
i am saddened by this accident, i know the spot at Mafoluku which in my opinion can be remedied in a day's work yet like everything Nigerian has been left unattended and has resulted in the death of young men with young families.
It is even more distressing that even in death the men were not permitted to rest in peace, but left to lie lifelessly in the crumpled vehicle overnight. Where is the much touted LASAMBS! Shame on the Police, Shame on the government, Shame on us all
Could be the driver's wrecklessness, maybe he was sleepy or drunk. So sad the way they had to go.
Oh so ☹sad. May their Soul RIP
The victims of that accident were my colleagues and it was truly a sad event. This threw the entire company in a state of shock and despair. These people didn't deserve to die like that. May your gentle souls rest in peace, Sir Kay and Ovie. God bless you till we meet again. Tochi
Its å pity.such is life,d lady survived,i pray dis Wil lead her to Christ unless she s already there may her lips, tongue never støp singin praises unto God.may the souls of the two men rest in peace.Amen
....But really, somebody should have called d Lagos emergency number,it really works and they do respond to emergency...I have seen it several times now....so sad
Na wa o. Deaths here and there. O Lord, please have mercy on us all. May Almighty God comfort the families of the deceased. Amen
All these death occurence is scary!
Oh my God! Scary !
Thank God for your life. You are alive for a reason may your testimony be pleasing in his sight.
May their gentle soul rest in peace!!!
Very sad *RIP
RIP
Very sad! So Nigeria does not have rescue operation.? The two men were left overnight? Very sad indeed. May your souls rest in peace.
Really sad!Human lives have no value in Nig.May we never lack help in the day of trouble, amen.
RIP.
I really weep 4 my ppl,so we dnt hv common rescue team,a very basic amenity? I bet u if those men were taken 2 d hospital dt nite, they wud hv made it.RIP

Which corpse and identity can you make out from this picture now? Una can like to comment anyhow. May the souls rest in peace jare.
Lord have mercy...its a touching story...
I think timing should come 2 play in this thing, the big trucks should move late @ night probably 1am to 5am,and an agency should be in charge of over-seeing that the trucks are in order most times the containers are not well placed and fasten.MAY THE SOUL OF THE DEAD REST IN PEACE
Linda please take off the picture, these people have family and it's quite gruesome and insensitive to put up these pics. You can still cover the story without the pic, do try and be human and maintain some decorum in what you as you do it. Thank you.
That those two were not talking, doesn't mean they were dead. To think that they left them there overnight!
This one should be called murder on the part of govt. what f! What if!! What if!!?,
So sad! I wonder why d lagos govt hvnt done somthing about dis trucks plyin apapa/oshodi, since I was a child it is d same story. R.I.P
That INTERNATIONAL airport road is notorious for heavy duty trucks losing control, due to its undulating terrain. At least three trucks have issues on that road every week. Its regrettable.May their souls RIP :(
May his soul rest in peace
We don't need more rotten maggots in d system. Stay back there and continue ur drugs. May d soul of these men rest in d bosom of our lord. Lord pls comfort their families.
May his soul rest in peace
Hmmm. May their souls RIP. We were neighbours with sir kay. This news shook my family. What a painful way to die. The fire dept is less than 10mins from that spot. Why didn't someone on the spot think of getting them down immediately. There is an emergency number to call for rescue in Lagos and it works. There shd be a form of sensitisation such that the average pepper seller, vulcanizer or even a 5 year old can easily pick up the phone and call the emergency lines. I've seen this work even in the most remote part of Lagos. Numbers are 112 or 767. Rescue first.
Tess
what i don't understand is why in Nigeria, ppl feel a truck has to be on the verge of collapsing before they feel it's capable of carrying heavy duty equipment.
We need to be careful.
Very sad! May their soul and that of all the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen! And God grant those they left behind the fortitude to bear the loss.
Lin-lin, I hope you can help pass this message across cos you are on of the influential people in our society. Lin-lin, VIO and Road safety are not working at all. Na so VIO go come pack for the front of my office, cause traffic untop am na only new cars dem dey ask for road worthiness. If you see some rickety cars that are allowed on the road, one would wonder what road worthiness is issued for. I have seen where a trailer was driving with a flat tyre wey don dey chop enter rim, yet no one stopped the truck, not even LASTMA or the police that are always on the road. I just tire for these death traps allowed to ply the roads and endanger other lives. Lin-lin let's call on Fashola to take all these rickety cars/trucks off the road. One way to start is if such cars break down on the road and are deemed unworthy, the trailers should be impounded immediately. Save lives Fashola and may the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God, Rest In Peace, AMEN!
Fuck the youths living in Nigeria! Y'all are no better than a bunch of walking corpse. Idiotic lot!!! You only how to gossip and wile away your jobless lives on the internet searching for irrelevant gist while the government robs you daily. In an ordinary REPUBLIC like your next door neighbour BENIN, ambulance response time is 15 mins MAX!!! You people are too stupid for comprehension. Those men may have still been alive, but no rescue team came to check. Even the fucking passerby did not check to see if they were probably in coma! Aswear you people are frigging disgusting. Take ur proud Nigerian bullshit to the abyss.
My thoughts exactly! This so sad.
Please guys let's also be proactive in our little way. We have talked about 911 in the USA and all that but na phone go pick himself call for rescue. I'm sure no one called the rescue team and that's why the corpse was left there. I remember one day, on my way to work, I saw a dead body on the road and it was a case of hit and run - the body was terribly disfigured from the accident and tyres were placed around the body. As soon as I got to the office, I called the emergency crisis team and they immediately notified the police and other organization that are responsible. What surprised me is that I was called and given feedback on the action taken. The corpse might have been there overnight, many cars drove past it and not until around 7:30am when I called was the corpse taken away. So, probably nobody knew about the accident except the residents of that neighbourhood and rescue will not come except we call for it. Let's be proactive! Change begins with YOU! No be everything we go cross leg dey look for who to blame and dey insult government. Na ourselves we dey insult oh cos na we be government! Please here is the number to call in case of emergency: 080022556362. Trust me when I say your call will be answered promptly. Please pass it on, you could save a life tomorrow. Lin-lin, I trust you.
I tot trailers are not allowed to ply d roads during d day. So sad. May their soul RIP and quick recovery to d lady.
Na wao
Rest in peace Ovie n Sir Kay
The funny thing is, I passed that road that day and saw the traffic that ensued from d accident. The Lady that survived(Ayo) is a chorister in my church and to think I saw her on sunday... May the departed soul RIP and may God protect us all. A faster response from emergency officials may have saved lives...
@ Victor Kwame,we bless Jehovah God Almighty for His mighty deliverance of your your and those of your crew.It is only Him that could have done that.To him be all the praise.and to you @Jobless,you are thanking 'fuck"that "you are not in the country" and it is the same 'fuck" you should thank for making you jobless so much that it has become your identity.Seek solace in the lord jesus for only in Him is safety.Accidents happen everywhere even where you are and the'fuck' unfortunately has no power to help you.
So sad *
RIP
Gud Lawd!!! This Is Not Gud @ All. These Trailer Drivers Tho. So Leaving Them There TDB Was The Best They Cld Do? What If One Of Em Was Still Alive & Inbtw? SMH!!! Thnk God For The Life Of The Woman & Speedy Recovery To Her. For The Men, May Their Souls RIP.
may their souls rest in perfect peace... amen!
This is really sad....
people are all commenting, no rescue team, I think its a cause someone would need to champion, do we have to wait for Government for everything, we've got to help ourselves to manage such better in the future and really it can be anybody tomorrow. lets learn to do more and complain less in this country and to those saying they will never come, someone fought for all you are enjoying overthere......
However Lagos State emergency need to work 24hrs
Such a shame. There is no value placed on human lives in this country. What does FRSC do? How does our government regulate vehicles that should and shouldn't be on our roads? What happened to MOT? When do we begin to see solutions to issues in this country? These heavy trucks should be banned from being on the roads before 12midnight when most cars aren't. How about the state of our roads? I can't even begin to comment on emergency response and our healthcare system...what a shame!

No number to call for help, no ambulance, no functioning railway system at least to carry all this heavy goods in order to reduce heavy trucks on our roads.Lord help us in dis country. RIP sir Kay and his colleague.
.
this happened on monday night and the president gave a mid term score card report on wednesday morning, obviously he didn't see that the airport road needed to be worked on.....a gateway to the country what a shame
Its so vry sad, i still sir kay dat morning wiv his wife,if any1 had told him,he wont make it bak home,he wud ave said its impossible...Dis Nigeria we live in is a dead country, mayb if there was an emergency patrol team, mayb they wud ave survived it. May deir gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
RIP to d dead.
Road safety has failed woefully. You will only find them on the expressway or street corners extorting money from people. While the government is busy manupilating NGF. This country has failed. Jonathan your zero scorecard is crap. Fix our roads. Kilode gan.
God bless u lovely couples...may d almighty God continue to direct your steps ijna!!! *prayer* God almighty...do for me as u've done for my piers ijna!
i was driving behind this vehicle when this occurred,it has been traumatic for me as i witnessed this,my vehicle was directly behind them, when it all happened,my heart bleeds for them and their families.
Lord have mercy upon us....may deir soul rest in perfect peace....Amen
rest in peace
@ "I am awake" May 30, 2013 8:09am, please get a life, every country has its shortfall even the save haven u currently reside in and from the tone of ur comment, u r obviously immature and bitter, that doesnt make u different from d people u r cursing.
@ All, its time we stop blaming everything and everyone for the situation in the country and focus on our contributions as individuals towards the progress og Nigeria. Developed countries did not fall from d sky, they were built by people.
May the souls og the gentlemen rest in peace
Prince jobless you really are a disgrace to your mother and father... Pity the day they conceived you, Ur papa for just waste that spe thruway..... I beg u in the name of God pls go commit sucide so humanity can have peace...
NIGERIA IS A DISGRACE
THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME WE LL HEAR ABOUT THIS SORT OF NEEDLESS DEATHS AND THE MOST ANYBODY WILL SAY IS 'EYAAAH' OR RIP.
ITS GONNA KEEP HAPPENING AND THATS WHAT PISSES ME OFF CUZ WE HAVE NO BLOODY GOVERNMENT!
Sorry to say, but it's you who should get a life. Or should I say "a brain" what kind of shortfall keeps happening everytime, and all we know how to say is "RIP" Nigeria's issues have gone waaaaaaay beyond shortfall. A lot of us are even more angry than d "awake" commenter.
what is happening to nigeria and their bad roads. this is disgraceful
Linda, I know you are used to criticism as it comes with the territory and all that but for the sake of having some moral constraints in your need to break news fast, you should sometimes think about the implication of what you do before you proceed. How on earth can you show the corpse of this man in full view. That is sooooo WRONG, callous and unprofessional of you.
Think of what the family of the deceased thinks of you and if that doesn't mean a thing to you then that says a HELL of a whole lot.
Just realised the only lady that was rescued is my cousin.
Very pathetic.
this is so sad but what if they where still alive dat nite..kipn dem dere till in d mornin datz soo painful...we rilli need a good recuse team in dis Nigeria... may dy RIP
