Sellers of pornographic materials arrested by Lagos state taskforce

The Lagos State Taskforce on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit has begun clampdown on distributors and sellers of pornographic materials across Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

Four distributors of pornographic materials were arrested at Cele Bus Stop on Oshodi-Apapa Expressway on Tuesday by the taskforce after the police raided the area. Those arrested will be arraigned before the Special Offences Court at the taskforce yard and prosecuted for selling obscene materials.

The sellers of the materials arrested are Yinka Dada, 25 years; Udoh Nne, 29 years; Sylvester Obodoe, 18 years and Poopola Bamidele, 18 years. (pictured above)

The culprits admitted that they knew hawking pornographic materials is prohibited in any part of the state. Obodoe said he knew the act was outlawed in the state but  resorted to hawking pornographic materials to eke out a living.

He pleaded for mercy and promised not to violate the law again.

Taskforce Chairman, Bayo Sulaiman, said there had been complaints by the residents of the resurgence of pornographic materials on the streets of Lagos.

He reiterated that the government has banned the selling or distribution of such materials as the act has a negative influence on children. (PM News)

A nice move, Hawking of pornographic materials makes it easier for the young ones to reach their hands on it, I agree, but on a large scale, young people get more access to pornography using the internet, especially with the fact that everyone has a phone nowadays

BULLSHIT. I never knew there was such a Law in Lagos. If you ask me its a STUPID and Hypocritical Law. Its Adult Material and as such it is left to parents to monitor their children. Secondly you want to Turn Lagos into a Metropolitan City without the side effects of a Metropolitan city. Such Hypocrisy. Don't the Lagos GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS mess around with girls all in the name of Broda Mi, Uncle Mi. F@#ing Hypocrites....They might as well ban the Internet as well. IDIOTS.

The state taskforce are fools!!!! Why didnt they go to Alaba and other places where these materials are produced instead of picking up a couple of small fry from the side of the road? Fools i tell you,Fools!!! Then they should just patrol all the streets of Lagos and continue to pick up the small fry and when we get to do a count of those arrested we might have a number close to a million!!!
The massive proliferation of pornographic materials is reliant on a specific source,a source which i know the taskforce is aware of but because of kickbacks they do not want to touch.
Carry go! continue to arrest and parade the small fry and maybe you will come and arrest Linda Ikeji also for putting nude pictures of Rihanna,Cossy and also showing us all the different contours of Large Penis on her Blog that makes people like Bonario to waste Vaseline.

I am waiting.....

A beg, I get one stupid question o... Is it an offence punishable by law to sell pornography in Nigeria??? Ah oga o, out of all out problems its funny how these so called 'moral' issues get fierce and strong reactions from government while crimes such as blatant corruption are subtly celebrated. And these people are a bunch of hypocrites, we know what goes on in these upper circles; it would make what you see in any of these magazines look like child's play! Abeg it's good jor, Porn has its place and its not on the street. Go to Obalende. You can't walk for a minute without seeing breasts and people having sex everywhere they sell DVD's. I was walking along Saka Tinubu recently and I saw someone selling DVD's with images of naked people having sex! What if my children were with me? How do I answer all the 'mummy what is that' questions.
They should stop selling it on the street. If you like porn so much and can't do without it, I'm sure you'll be able to go and look for them in their shops, away from open streets and bus stops.

Anonymous said...

some people fail to see the point here! Porn should not be hawked on the street where children are. Even in the developed countries you are comparing Naija to, they have designated places where they sell them. This is also not an issue of block the website too - stupid comment.

It is about not introducing children involuntarily to thing they are not ready for (development wise)

people will do porn but dont force it through the throats of everyone including children.

Protect our children|!!!!!

Are they robbing anybody? Abeg...they should free them jare. We like to act hypocritical...people will be forming as if they have never viewed pornographic material. At least they are making a living.

Online Reductionist said...

This is the ANSWER for the DUMMIES among us. PORN being fully available everywhere in the world doesnt mean it should be in your face. Even in Amsterdam and other parts of europe where these things are staple, they still have specific shops and areas for them. The very sites where these movies are downloaded and burnt to DVD from have age restrictions. THERE MUST BE ORDER.

I feel these pple shld be punished lightly and made to pay fine, and there shld be a raid, which shld amount to d destructn of sch offensve n porn materials.
