Filmmakers Charles Aniagolu and Emem Isong discuss the Business of Movies in this weekend’s MTN Afrinolly Master Class

The MTN Afrinolly Master Class series continues on Saturday, January 12 with another Hangout event, this time featuring international broadcaster, producer and director Charles Aniagolu alongside prolific female director, screenwriter and producer Emem Isong.

With the creative industries fast becoming an important aspect of global economy, the Afrinolly Master Class series recognises the power of film within this vast financial context. A cross-continental audience of film professionals and enthusiasts will join both filmmakers as they discuss the socio-economic impact of film live on Google+ Hangout at 3pm Nigerian Time

Aniagolu is a BBC-trained journalist with experience as a reporter and news presenter with CNN, Sky News and the BBC World Service. A producer and director of TV commercials, documentaries and feature films, Aniagolu is also a writer whose books cut across popular culture and biographies. He is the writer, producer and co-director of Streets of Calabar, a new feature film starring Wale Ojo (Phone Swap), Rita Dominic (The Meeting), Keppy Ekpeyong (Raging Storm) and Maynard Eziashi (Mister Johnson). Streets of Calabar has premiered across Nigeria and is gradually making waves in local cinemas.

Apart from film and TV production, the UK-based Aniagolu is a partner at PR and media outfit Spirit Creations, which boasts a clientele that includes the European Union, DFID, SABC Africa, the BBC and CNN International.

Emem Isong joins Aniagolu in this weekend's Hangout where she shares her knowledge as a commercial filmmaker whose films continue to make notable success both from DVD sales and - in recent times - at the Box-Office.

Under her production and training outfit, Royal Arts Academy, the award-winning Isong has gained renown for her work and collaboration with the likes of Desmond Elliot, Ini Edo, Genevieve Nnaji, Nse Ikpe Etim, Joseph Benjamin, Monalisa Chinda and Majid Michel in numerous movies such as Emotional Crack, Reloaded, Guilty Pleasures, Darkest Night, Bursting Out, Kiss and Tell and I'll Take My Chances.

Isong is also a judge in the MTN Afrinolly Short Film Competition. Submission for the competition is still open till January 31st 2013. Submit your entry at www.afrinollyshortfilmcompetition.com
