South Africa launches new Nelson Mandela bank notes

South Africa today November 6th rolled out new notes bearing the image of 94 year old anti-apartheid leader and the country's first black president, Nelson Mandela. The new 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 rand banknotes feature Mandela’s image on one side and the other side maintains the Big Five animals already on the bills.

Mandela is the first black man to appear on South African money. A great way to immortalize a great man.

what a great way to honor a man that has fought and paid terrible prizes for his country. I believe he will be so proud where ever he is now, may he live more years to reap his good deeds for his country.

Why are d comments so few? If its Ksolo and his ugly women many would have commened. But that's a great step, sometimes you need to pay your respects(no pun intended) when a man is alive so he know he is held in high esteem. Madiba, you are the best.

Congrats Mandiba, but isnt dis a risky venture of puttin a living man's pics on dia national currency? Common we all knw humans r prone 2 f*ck up, so wat den happens if he makes a very terrible act just b4 he dies, would he still be considered a hero whose face is worthy 2 be on dia notes? #just my tots o

An honour well deserved. Anon 10:42pm, no man is ever perfect but there's a level a man shall attain such that a mistake by him will be tied by his admirers and thrown to the sea. Pray for him rather than say ill stuffs.
This is a wake-up call to all of us, even from our zero position we can make the best use of what we have to effect the lives of people around us and believe me, posterity will never forget you.
God bless Super High Model (my tite for him) Mandel.
God bless you

Sour grapes, you think u can dismiss 27yrs of a person's life time with *ass kisser* how long was he president that you want for him to have solved S/Africa problems of how many decades? Abeeeeg, go drink some ukhumboti and let us hear word. It is a democratic society, get into government and make d difference u want.

Go an remove Queen Elizabeth's from the Pound Sterling.

Seeing as South Africa is a black country, i dont see how having a black face on their currency should be counted as a milestone. The story here should be about what Mandela stands for. Shame on them for not doing this until now.
