The suspended universities are Lead City University, Caritas University, Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Tansian University, Madonna University, Achievers University and Obong University.
The NUC say the suspension will be lifted as soon as the Universities live up to the guidelines stipulated by the commission in the running of Universities in Nigeria.

The purported suspension of Operating License of Lead City University, Ibadan literally means that the University is advised not to admit for the new session. It is not a withdrawal of the University License. All concerned are enjoined to be rest assured that the University is on top of the Situation..

I am a 300 level student of madonna studying accounting belive me am so happy NUC took this bold step infact they were suposed to have done that long time ago, this skool dose not deserve a licence to operate till they build good hostels, lecture halls, stop security gaurds from harrasing students, employ qualified lecturer not illitrares dat we somtime corrct in the lecture hall, give us proffesors, water, steady light, stop exploiting students, lectures colleclt as much as 3000 to submit assignment apart from the fact that we must buy ther self authord textbooks, they force us to go to catolic church every wednesday and sunday, they fine students lots of money as much as 200, 000 all in the name of disipline and so much more… We the students madonna and its sister college caritas are happy that this boldstep was takin the only regreat we have are those finnal yr students who will sit for their degree exam stating on monday cuz efforts and money as much as 1million nira per semester seems wasted, yet we must make such sacrifices so stop other from coming tomadonna to waste their money and time becaus after all the mony spent graguation is not even guaranted

I am a proud graduating student of Lead City University. You should know that in terms of academic staff, LCU has some of the best ranking and most respected faculty members in the likes of Prof. Alaba Ogunsanwo, Prof. Nwoke of Havard university, Dr. Campbell, prof. Agunbiade, to mention just a few. Talking about graduating 500 first class out of 1500, in LCU you may only have 2 first class out of 3000 graduating students. In my set there is only one first class out of about 300 computer sci students. Facility wise LCU offers one of the best facilities compared to any other private university or Govt university. LCU is the only private uni in Nigeria where social and academic life is balanced. LCU only made that list because of the beef btw Prof. Owoeye the chairman anf Prof. Okojie NUC’s boss.

We just learnt to ignore the horible environ and focus on getting educated. Cos if u wanna focus on d horrible living conditions, harrassment and what nots..u'll fail. To think of it, my elder sister + brother and their friends graduated from the university and they did well in their postgraduate in the UK university like Manchester Uni, Warwick etc. so i don't understand how they said they didn't meet the criteria for bachelors.
I am so surprise that most of these church run schools did not make the list. Apart from the fact that many of the schools did not meet the NUC's operational requirements, the way these schools are run leave a lot to be concern about. Schools like Convenant and Redeemer Universities should have been on the list, their owners probably have NUC officials as members, little wonder they did not show on the list. Nigerian private Universities are a joke and a mockery of what a good religious run University should be. Schools where very unqualified people hold the post of VC all because they own the school, they arbitrarily choose pastors and evangelists to head sensitive positions in the school management. People who hitherto have had no prior experience in running a University are allowed to make very humanly demeaning rules fashioned by their intolerant religious sense of right and wrong; little wonder you go to such schools and all you hear is how the management busies themselves with laws that add little or no progress to the academic development of such schools. Imagine after paying truckloads of cash to educate your kid only for one to hear that s/he had been rusticated from school cos he did not attend the assemble with his bible, imagine making christian religious study a major course for a person studying medicine, engineering, law, and other sciences. If you fail this religious course, you are forced to write them or else you will not graduate. In convenant you are not even allowed to wear a jersey, own a camera phone, have independent academic thoughts or even disagree intellectually with the authorities, yet it is a University. Is there any difference between these so-called church run Universities and rehabilitation centres? Are the students there being taught what they came there to know or what the school Church authorities want them to know. Why should a muslim student be forced to observe prayers different from his own or even study christian religious studies as a major even when his program should have no bearing on such study. Are the NUC aware of this arbitrariness in the way these church gangstars operate?? As if the mass indoctrinations in their churches are not enough they have to still drag it to the school? We want investment in our education but not these ones abeg!! Gone are the days when churches make claims of running any business outside the church as a way to help the poor; that argument has become stale and redundant, they are all profit driven with little or no quality education as they like to claim. Having beautiful buildings inside an enclosed landmass space does not transcend to quality education. NUC should also take that aspect seriously, there is too much arbitrariness in the way these bible wielding conmen run these schools and put a price tag on education.

Its a good thing that NUC has finally opened its eyes to notice what goes on in some of these private universities.....i studied in Madonna University for 1 year before realising that the so-called Father Edeh was just siphoning money from hard-working parents promising them future medical doctors and engineers when most of the courses especially Medicine and all health-related courses havent passed accreditation from the board. The standard of living is nothing to write home about...where you have 12 students living in a tiny room, with little or no water, and unsanitary toilets and bathrooms. The madonna authorities are more concerned with appointing new Hall-reps(in other words--prefects) and obligatory monday and tuesday jogging sessions where they can harrass and flog students and lay the new rule for the week, than they are trying to upgrade the academic infrastructure of the university......Kudos to NUC, your intervention has been long awaited.

Well the truth had to be said,NUC need to come and inspect madonna university because we are suffering the hostel and security issues,no freedom and we are freedoomed cus even the graduation is not garanteed and most o the student are tired but cant doe anything because it seems like hyptonizism or something,security molesting and harrasing student,fine being paid for no reason,so many student in rooms and hostel sucks,lies that we are four in the room when rooms cant contain the students,fuck you madonna university....

in other private uni yy ar d student nt allow to observe deir mode of worship imagine a muslim who is attending covenant, babcock,redemeers nd so on ar restricted frm praying 5times daily i can tell u boldly that this s nt done in my university am a christian(cele for dat matta)nd am allowd 2 go to church anyday witout any1 questioning me. my sch fees is nt expensive that one can afford, i can tell u ur 6mnth salary can pay nd wen we talk abut d educational aspect am a proud accounting student nd an ican student with lot of professional courses done within nd outside d sch who can provide accounting skills anywere i can tell u fountain uni is nt one of d best uni in terms of facilities, builings nd so on but i can tell u fountain uni osogbo is one of d best in terms of morals nd its a good example of wat private uni shld luk lyk i believe u dnt only go to a sch to read you go to learn other things that cold be useful to ur upbring i rep my sch cause i can provide am nt a waste frm a private uni dnt knw abut u sha
