Kwame shed more light on the need for the retreat and re-emergence of the brand with plans for the future. “Nigezie, the all music station will continue to be a yardstick for quality entertainment and become a platform for effective self expression for thousands of creative people within and outside the country, with prime programs such as E-XTRA, TEAR RUBBER and NIGERIAN TOP 20. The channel will still showcase the positive mental attitude, tenacity and vision of the Nigerian spirit”.
Speaking on the second pioneering brand, Orisun (meaning the source), Kwame said “the indigenous Yoruba channel will mirror the lifestyle and culture of the Yoruba race via movies, soaps, documentaries, series, talk shows and a host of other programmes, hence it will portray the uniqueness of the Yorubas. The channel will serve as the source of high end quality Yoruba entertainment”.
As regards the broadcast platform for the rebirth of Nigezie and the launch of Orisun, Kwame said “the introduction of the digital terrestrial platforms in Nigeria has urged us to launch the 2 channels on the StarTimes Platform. Nigezie broadcasts on Channel 128 while Orisun broadcasts on Channel 130. The plan to use the platform came as a result of the fact that in the nearest future, the digital terrestrial platforms will create unimaginable possibilities in the industry”.
VNM has created a brand that will aggregate all its brands, radio shows, reality shows, amongst other content under one umbrella called VIRTUAL MAGIC.

why dont any igbo well of guy create a channel for igbos-where igbo language and history is documented and used.Linda you better tell your igbo people, they are lacking in business pursuit oo, anyways yoruba is the next main language in nigeria after english. Do igbo people even have igbo spoken movies?, I know hausa,edo ppl and definately yoruba has- I mean consistant not half english mixed. I am yoruba, and my bad to say this, but if any group was to have a major story to tell through documentaries its the igbos, #justsaying, especially in their history with Nigeria.
Very well done on the Orisun station. It is hightime someone preserved and kept the Yoruba culture for the younger generation.

Ibo home videos were not doing well I think. I also believe that Ibos are poor actors, sincerely.
Though I believe it can only take a well committed group like those who acted out 'Living Bondage' to succeed in making Ibo movies a commercial success.
Somehow the yoruba genre is a wonderful trailblazer in this regard a foundation laid by Hubert Ogunde over time. Kudos to them. Others should learn.

Although i appreciate his creativity and vision, am disappointed that he chose to have a yoruba movie channel. He should be promoting unity. why not an all tribe channel. Later we ask why there so much division in Nigeria. We complain about the tribalist and zionist but fail to ask ourselves if we are part of the problem. Please stop. Promote Nigeria not yoruba's or igbo's or hausa's etc. We

PP, Biko this is the time for my Igbo brothers (business men, entertainment gurus) to launch an Igbo Channel. The market is rich, ROI and patronage guaranteed. Igbo is arguable the largest ethnic group in Nigeria. Our language is our identity and if we lose it, we have lost everything. Lets be proud of whom God made us and create a platform to tell our story for this generation and beyond.

IT IS VERY SAD TO SEE NIGEZIE AS A CHANNEL RESTRICTED TO NIGERIAN VIEWERS RESIDENT IN NIGERIA ONLY,IT WOULD BE A LOT BETTER IF THE CHANNEL CAN BE ON DSTV SO THAT NIGERIANS IN THE DIASPORA CAN HAVE ACCESS TO IT,WHEN I WAS IN NIGERIA THE LAST TIME I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO SEE THE CHANNEL BUT SINCE ONE IS AWAY THERE IS NO WAY OF SEEING THE CHANNEL AGAIN,PLEASE TRY AND GET THAT CHANNEL ON DSTV
This is is not about being tribalistic or not ,it's about being creative and he know quite well that the best way for him is to establish a platform where he can showcase his origin's culture where the young ones will not forget where they come from.Imagine Igbo language is fast going into extinction because if you speak Igbo,you will be replied in english,imagine!.Food for thought.
