Gang Rape: Abia State Governor's Wife Speaks

The Office of Her Excellency, Mrs Mercy  Odochi Orji is absolutely not oblivious of the current  news making the rounds; alleging a rape case of a young woman and a student of Abia State University by FIVE male students.

The Office of Her Excellency, wishes to make it categorically clear that available report from the leadership of the University said that there was no such inglorious act and ugly incident in the institution.
His Excellency, Chief T. A. Orji, the Executive Governor of Abia State has investigated and still investigating the allegation. However, we appeal that the victim should help by giving a lead to enable government bring perpetrators to book.

Her Excellency has been at the forefront of championing the course of womanhood and promoting the Girl Child Education, Kicking against Child trafficking and Abuse, Teenage Pregnancy and Child Labour, and would therefore stop at nothing to bring the perpetrators to face the long arm of the law if allegation if found to be true even if happened outside the institution.
The report as a matter of necessity, justice and fair play should be substantiated with facts in the interest of our society.

Mrs Mercy Odochi Orji
Wife of the Governor,
Abia State.

Rubbish, arrant and blatant nonsense. So this woman has allowed her heavy make up to blind her good judgement. She should send her rubby, rubby Special Assistant to go and look for the victim, instead of asking the poor girl to come forward.
Come forward to where? The obviously hopeless and incompetent VC, the useless police or to the govt house? Would you show yourself if you were this girl or would you hide in shame?
All these people who are now burying their heads in the sand, remember that rape is not the exclusive right of any one person. It could happen to anyone. I hope that you will not look back in future and regret your refusal to act on this victims behalf. She definitely does not deserve what these animals have done to her

all this "it is true, it is not true, it was this school and not this school" should stop. all they need to do is try and get the girl because she is the only one who can point out at least one of the boys. shikena. they know what to do and they dont wana do it. who are they fooling? if it was their child, they would do more.

Is Mrs Mercy Odochi Orji now the governor of Abia State? Whats wrong with Nigeria? What's with the "The Office of Her Excellency ..." as if she's the bloody queen of Nigeria? Is she a government official? It is absolutely wrong for her to issue  press statement in a criminal investigation before the police have commenced or concluded their investigation. Should it not be her husband looking into this matter? How come she's the one issuing official statement instead of law enforcement agencies in Abia State? I don't believe that man, the so called governor of Abia State, Mr T. A. Orji properly looked into the matter. Arm-chair investigation is bullshit investigation. Maybe people in Abia State fall for that nonsense, we don't. I put it to Abia State governor and Abia State government that the governor concluded on the matter without giving the police in the state or the the country the opportunity to conduct a thorough and proper investigation. Five men raped a woman and it took the governor of Abia State and the VC of Abia State University less that 48 hours to arrive at a conclusion???! On what facts or evidence did the governor base his "investigation" to arrive at his conclusion??? You will not sweep this matter under any carpet. Hell no. The cover up by the school authority and Abia State government must stop. Get your act together. Those 5 boys must be jailed for life or clear off and someone else take your place. Smh.

I normally don't comment on blogs or social networks but this woman's response takes the cake. Does it for heaven sake matter if the girl or rapists were from abia state university? A woman was raped! Period! And it was in abia.

Since I heard about this incident over the weekend, I've been sooo distorted. How can 5 guys do that to their fellow human beings? 5 yrs down the line...these guys will probably get married to some innocent girls and their wives won't be able to give birth or smthing. They will now say someone is chasing them from their village.

Pls madam, enough opax and get something doing. These boys have to be arrested and justicce must be served,

Anonymous said...

Where is the girl? She is the only person that can help solve this riddle. We can only speculate...

Anonymous said...

omg. Is she even a woman or a mother? who cares if it happened at ABSU?. it is recorded and it is not a naija movie.
she should do something and create a secure environment that the Gov's wife needs to make Abia State women proud and act urgently and effectively.
Maybe the abia state market women, university girls, high school girls and female civil servants should protest peacefully and speak with one voice, then the men of abia state will hear.

what are the abia people in diaspora doing to help this matter? may be when it get international coverage. the government will start acting to cover their shame and failure to conclude their investigations.

Anonymous said...

madam, you, the VC and your husband, may your kit and kin walk the path this young lady has walked.
May your kit and kin experience worse and when it happens may the powers that be investigate and pass judgement in 48 hrs.
cheers.

A crime has taken place. They should go and find the culprits then perhaps the girl will come forward. The evidence is in the video. I forgot that nigerian police dont investigate!!!! she is a rape victim and the way we deal with violence against women does not encourage anyone to report. we dont make it easy for them at all or anyone who is a victim of crime!! this should be handled better and could be to show that perhaps nigeria is turning a corner. mrs governor - shut the f***k up!!! encourage the state police and asbu to investigate and make abia state an example that violence is not tolerated against anyone. be the voice of the victim.

Anonymous said...

Wow. Atleast you have made an effort. Let us be real people. Rendering abuses on these people when this girl is not forth coming. Why hasn't she come forward atleast send an anonymous message to linda or even the police people. She knows the people that did this to her!! Only her can help fish out the culprits. The video did not show the faces of these guys. She went to visit one of them and only her knows who they are and reason why she was raped. Why can't she atleast come out in disguise and give a lead to the case throught email or something. 2ndly we seem to forget we are in nigeria and not abroad. Most of us commenting are sitting down just typing and rendering abuses without even doing nothing!!! After all was it not a member of the boko haram family that was murdered rcently maybe the thought he will talk. There's really nothing much the government can do when †ђξ lady isn't co operating. This is Nigeria people!!! Ww

Those of us that claim to be bothered should pursue this case objectively without sentiment. The issue of rape is a menace no one will accommodate.

Some reactions here appear really sentimental, only true sense of reasoning may bring the desire results.

The Wife of the Governor has spoken well and therefore, she deserves to be supported on this issue. Rape is a world calamity that requires general solution, there isn't any peculiarity with rape.

To seek for useful informations, she left her email address mercyodochi@abiastate.gov.ng.

The Governor had also made his contact email public for the same sake.

Thanks

Mrs Mercy Odochi Orji (and her clueeless pr person) obviously sees this as an advertising opportunity to publicise her mother Teresa charity status.

"Mrs Mercy Odochi Orji

"...Her Excellency has been at the forefront of championing the course of womanhood and promoting the Girl Child Education, Kicking against Child trafficking and Abuse, Teenage Pregnancy and Child Labour... "

• You healed the sick.

So what?

• You made the blind fly in the sky.

So what?

• You resurrected Michael Jackson.

So what?

Deal with the issue at hand and spare us the unnecessary publicity of your charity work.

For your information, for the (Bukingham Palace size) benefit you, your husband and family enjoy, you lot are not doing enough for Abia State, the kidnapping and thieving capital of Africa.

When is your husband going to sort out the kidnapping and lawlessness in Abia State? When? Nothing have changed since you lot took over. And from the current state of things in Abia State, you lot are no better than the previous worthless and waste of space administration.

"...The report as a matter of necessity, justice and fair play should be substantiated with facts in the interest of our society...."

Please leave grammar out of this matter, please. Didn't your husband watch the video?

From the statement issued on Monday by Abia State "governor" and today's statement by his "Excellency" wife, I have no faith in Abia State government, Mr T. A. Orji or the VC of Abia State University in this matter.

This case can not be solved without the victim coming forward! She has to realize that people are all concern and are willing to help. Eitherway if the victims are maybe sold out by their friends or whatever... They still need to have the girl there to verify it is them otherwise they cannot be prosecuted.
Biggest issue is girls who go through such tragic circumstances and are afraid to come forward! For justice and action to be carried out to these culprits, I urge the lady to come forward and know that she will help put a stop to this happening to the next girl!
As for the first lady, been a woman should just be enough reason to dig further and try get justice for women! This is really sad when we see the people who are meant to help just brushing the issue away with vague answers! Its Pathetic and unacceptable!

why do some of we nigerians reason as if our brain is under our feet for crying out loud???
what linda and others have been clamouring for is for the governor and ppl in power to step in to the situation and start investigating which they have started.

is the governor or his wife witch doctors for them to magically apprehend the rapists?? or is the university authorities going to magically conjure up the five guys with the girl's identity unknown, the perpetuators unknown...the woman said even if the guys are not students of the university they will be brought to book yet some of you gys here are speaking out of your rear orifice pls if you don't have sensible contributions keep quiet

it is difficult to prosecute or investigate cases such as rape, domestic violence if the victim has refused to one forward even if the perpetuators are known.the faces of the five guys were blurred and the names mentioned in the video are common generic ibo names answered by millions of people so if we really want the government to do anything then the girl has to come forward or people who know her have to bring her forward after all her face is showing in the video

Anonymous said...

All these people do is chop public funds and ignore our needs. We need justice for the rape victim! Stop dribbling us! I wonder if the governor's wife would be talking this shit if it were her daughter that was raped by one man let alone FIVE. Whether it happened on the university premises or elsewhere is IRRELEVANT. The fact is that five students of the university raped another student.

Anonymous said...

Tess, the first lady didn't say anything wrong. Indeed, we cannot find out who the rapists are, where the act was committed and what to do,if the girl does not come out. No police in the country would find dis out. So she's right here.
I want us to leave emotions. Yes, the act was horrible. But then, the vc (who by the way isn't incompetent) and governor cannot do anything meaningful if the girl doesn't provide a clue...IMO

is it just me or has this statement said absolutely nothing new or important?

anyways, it would be better if they stop asking the girl to "come forward". rather, give precise information on how they plan to help her and ensure her safety and etc. not just come forward!

after that, the insensitive police will start quizing her, hopefully she wont get threatened by the same "state government" to let the matter die down or else.... before you know it, we will have a "dewunmi BEAT FM type statement" from her.

WHAT SYSTEM HAVE YOU PUT IN PLACE TO SEE IT THROUGH IF SHE DOES COME FORWARD?

especially since you are CATEGORICALLY going by what the uni authorities have claimed- that they are not their students. how can anyone come forward confidently when you have taken that stance already?

Funny, the government of Abia is either really foolish or (more likely) incompetent. Of course the University of Abia would deny that the rape happened there, no one wants to be identified with rapist (so we hope). It's the government's job and its security and legal personnels' duty to substantiate these claims through independent investigation. You can't take the University's claim at face value, that is just plain stupid. If her ladyship or whatever was really concerned about women's issues then she can start by ignoring the universities claims and encouraging an independent investigation of the allegations. For heavens sake we have a video (poor darling girl), lets use it to find the criminals, this isn't rocket science!

Anonymous said...

You want proof Mrs Mercy Orji, well here you go http://www.naijapals.com/modules/naijapals/nigeria/topic,79135.0.html. I could not bear watching the video, for obvious reasons, but I will not sit and watch the youths of Nigeria act in such an evilish manner and thinking it is okay. The young girl that got raped needs to know that she is not forgotten. Young girls/ladies are sent to Universities in Nigeria in search for education, instead they are greeted with physical, verbal, and in this case sexual abuse from their classmates. My fellow Nigerians it is time to stand for something and not turn the cheek when clearly our educational system needs a good turn-around. Madam Orji please consider yourself, your children, your nieces, your people and don't turn the other cheek to this matter. Let's seek to be politically correct in this matter, let's just seek to be CORRECT! Wrong is wrong, so please, I plead, please do the right thing. Let God Guide Us, Amen.

I am not at all surprised that abia state governor has denied that this happened under his dirty nose after all
His son went into a supermarket, ordered everyone out bcos he wanted to shop and when a military guy in the shop refused to leave he asked his boys to beat him up which they did then the military guy called his fellow military men and they beat d governors son blue black. Then guess what followed; governor orji and his son arranged and kidnapped this man while he flew his culture son abroad for treatment....
What a shame! May God punish all those who abuse authority. They will surely account to the Almighty God.
We must continue to fight for justice in Nigeria......

Wow. These pompous and arrogant politicians think they are in government for life. Madam Excellency's statement has made it to "419 Reasons To Dislike Abia State Nigeria". Her press statement is 419 and a cover-up. You want the girl to come forward so that you shut her up. We know that criminals walk free in Abia State. The only criminals prosecuted and jailed in Abia State are poor criminals who have no "connection" or money to bribe the heavily corrupt police in Abia State Nigeria. Abia State is ridden with lawlessness, crime, corruption and heavily involved in voodoo / juju / occult practices and rituals. Criminals are celebrities in Abia State Nigeria. Abia State is one of the most unsafe places in Nigeria. Crimes are never solved in Abia State. If you are a foreigner, tourist or investor, stay away from Abia State Nigeria or they will kidnap you for a huge ransom. We know relatives that it happened to. My mum is from Umuahia, Abia State, Nigeria. We have stayed away from that state for for over 5 years due to armed robbers and kidnappers. Thank God we are British. I'm not surprised that Abia State University, Abia State Government and Abia State governor are not investigating the rape incident which took place in Abia State Nigeria. I don't trust that ignorant and foolish VC of Abia State University. I don't trust "His Royal Highness" T. A Orji (the governor of Abia State). I don't trust "Her Royal Highness" Mercy Odochi Orji. I don't trust the corrupt police (in Abia State Nigeria) because they are worst than the armed robbers and kidnappers. They only want the girl to come forward so that they can discredit her and silence her and the case. It's unsafe for that girl to make herself know because her safety is at risk. These people and the self-centred powers that be in Abia State Nigeria can KILL her to ensure the matter never makes it to court.

Anonymous said...

The main question is, WHERE IS THE GIRL? I'm not saying she should come forward, but we have to find her. If she's reading this, here's the phone numbers of influential people who have sworn to see this case till the end (House of Reps Abike Dabiri's P.A Akin 08069508160 or S.A to Minister of Youth--Ohima 08069508160).

She should get across to these people and tell them what happened. If it did happen to her, she should acknowledge and be ready to press charges. Bet you me, getting the boys is not a problem!

Anonymous said...

Why don’t we ask the girl to identify herself(privately) without shame to an NGO and from there, we can get the demons who did that to her.

Find Her First and We Have The Boys.

Anonymous said...

I really think we are allowing sentiment to cloud our judgements here. Blah blah blah blah.. the koko of the matter is what her press statement has dealt with.(We implore her for leads. It's perhaps the most difficult thing to ask from anyone who has been through this kind of trauma). Else as sad as it sounds, we are all grappling at straws here. I am also sure the media frenzy created may discourage the girl from coming forward.

Anonymous said...

I suggest they find this girl ASAP as her life mite just be in serious danger...u guys are all saying dat they shld get the boys first, methinks d girl shld be taken to safety and let her identify d culprits...they shld be dealt with cos this mite hv been goin on for a long time as rape victims are often shy abt coming out dats why these heartless boys hv gotten away wit it but as our good and faithful GOD will hv it Nemesis hs caught wit dem and as a result dey shld not escape the wrath of the law...

It baffles me that people are getting upset by this woman's comment: what else did you all expect? See, we live in a country where our leaders do not give $500 about us, they do not care. Firstly, if they were concerned, (this is something that happened over a month ago, it took a blog to bring it up before the stupid government officials made comments about it) would you not have heard about actions they are taking? Because I read about this in a very soft sell magazine when it happened but I thought it was a rumour, meaning they would have heard about it, but trust NIgeria, we are very good carpet sweepers so they thought, as usual, it will be swept under the carpet. If you really want to survive in this goddamn country, you have to take laws into your hands. If we wait for govt, nothing will happen, give this case one more week, we will not hear anything about it again. If there is anyway we can spread it round the world and trust me there are women groups outside this country who are ready to take this case up, time and money wise.Forget about this government people, they are on their way to hell so they have reprobate minds.

If Mrs Orji really wants to help she can send people out to do a background job. She can send her jobless 'rubby, rubby' special assistants to at least go to ABSU, mingle with students and make secret inquries like Tess has suggested. People know that girl you know?
When I schooled in Nigeria, I remember the police and SSS used to send their staff to universities to study and do intelligence work.
You sound like you are close to the Abia seat of govt and those in power in that state. Just to let you know that you can help if you really want to. That is if they are not protecting the son of a big fish

Mrs Orji and her senseless PR buffs are shallow to the core. They never once dreamt that they would be where they are today and must show off at all costs. Cheap publicity sinks like a toilet. Nonsense.

Aunty Ngozi said...

The rapists would have by now threatened the victim with death if she comes forward.
A more worrisome scenario is the very real possibility that they have kidnapped and killed her by now.
The state governor's PR stunt is damaging, at the least.
First, who elected her into public office? What right has she to comment on what should be an on-going police investigation?
Second, how, pray tell, did they determine that the rapists are not students of Abia State University? To determine that suggests that the Identities of the men have been determined. So, Abia State Government, who are the rapists in the video?
Lastly, a woman was raped. Does it matter that the rapists were students of the university or not?
This silly first lady woman has fall my hand this morning.

The Truth of the matter will soon be known to everyone, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa is taking up the case at the National Assembly Level.

Her words: ”It saddens my heart to watch and read the story of the young lady who was gang-raped by five men in a video that has circulated on the internet in the last few days. On the 20th of September 2011, I intend to raise the issue on the floor of the House of Representatives.

”In the meantime, I will appeal to the lady herself, to at least let a few of us know her. I will ensure that she is protected. She cannot get the justice she deserves if she remains anonymous. From the information I have gathered, I was told that this has become a regular occurrence in some parts of Nigeria.

”Ladies are gang-raped and they are too timid to speak up for fear of stigmatisation and reprisals..

”I plead with anyone who knows her real identity and location to please convince her at least to reach out to me or the appropriate authorities so we can put an end to this. There is no reason or excuse for any woman to be raped. It is illegal and irresponsible.

”All men and women of good conscience in Nigeria should join me to totally condemn this abominable act.”
_Abike Dabiri-Erewa

I just don't understand why sum pple here are saying the victim should come out, come out for what? A thorough investigation hasn't been done yet they have already concluded that the incident didn't take place within the school premises, that the rapist are not ABSU students. If u were the victim, will u still come out with all these pronouncements? Hell no! Abia state govt and the NPF cannot tell me they can't search for those rapists without the victim giving them a Clue in this present day of technology. So wat if she was killed after the rape? Is anyone even thinking about that possibility at all? Are these pple telling me that they can't work with the video avaliable? Com'on now! Our politicians know how to go abroad on daily basis to hide their loot so am sure they should know where to take that video to for enhancement! If you pple don't find those rapist, posterity will judge u all. By the way madam "first lady" we really don't need to hear all the advertisement of all that you claim to be doing all the woman and children in your state, ok? Here's a test for you, if u indeed care about the woman as u claim, solve this mysytery with tha video at your disposal, comb all the Law faculty, pick all the male students with the names mentioned for questioning, pick all the male students who own cars in that school. Is this too much to do? I don't think so cos if it were to be ur daughter am sure u will comb all the villages and streets of Abia state to find the culprits! Nuff said....Meggy

The problem is that the VC made a statement exonerating the school without any investigation. And the state government is not helping at all. If this girl should open up now, she will end up being bullied. They should have provided adequate security for her before making unnecessary statements. As it is now, she may not talk becuase the school authorities and the government did not believe the story. But I think that if adequate police protection is provided, she may come forward

Anonymous said...

i do agree that little can be done without the lady coming forward but with the things have been handled do you think she'll be treated fairly if she does?i can only imagine how she feels with thousands of people having seen that video its not that easy ooooo esp with the way this country deals with rape victims.God forbid but are we even sure the girl is alive?are we sure the demons didnt kill her? her family may even tell her not to come forward for fear of shame or her even being told by people that she brought it on herself? sad!sad!sad!.God help us all.

It was unfortunate that Tokunbo Ajayi committed suicide. If she had enough support and therapy she may have remained alive.

I think there was more to Tokunbo's case. If you were raped and later discovered some medical problems, would you not think of dying?

I am not saying that, that was what happened to her but life was unfair on her. Life is a struggle... May she continue to rest in peace? Maybe a foundation should be created in her name.

It helps when we the commentators offer some possible solutions rather than just insult n curses (even though I agree wit all n say Amen to d curses on those animals.) that suggestion by September 21, 2011 6:30 AM ...sounds like a start, cos i was thinking of a more publicised way of getting nigeria involved, like take out a full page Ad/Petition in a national daily paper, calling on all these negligent officials (the Police force of Abia state, the Negligent VC, and the entire state government) to do their jobs in relation to this case, and then the offer to head hunt these criminals can be made public..... I believe an initiative like this will if nothing else, begin to put a 'Zero-tolerance of Rape' message in the minds of people, and hopefuly get more people interested to hunt these wicked people down if our police force n govts insists on failing us....

I would suggest allying with a worthy NGO on such matters under d umbrella of the 'concerned women of Nigeria' n lets all sign our names on that...Lets make no mistake guys, if 1 woman can be a victim, we all can, n if no one will fight for our right to safety,n then we must...Linda its just an idea, but i believe this is how we begin to do more than just talk. Throw it out to the public to see their opinion, get an account running like the anon person said and let serious people respond by their actions..... Just a thought.

Also Linda, if u have any idea who d girl is, try reach her by any means necessary, n let her know that there are a few people interested in her well being n if she needs some sort of support for treatments we can try to help to. Let her kno as crazy as it sounds she needs to trust in a few genuine individuals who, alongside her, can help make sure that Nigeria doesnt go to sleep on this issue.... I choose to see dis as an opportunity to break the code of silence on this issue in Nigeria.... Enough is enough, Lets put our voices together beyond d internet.... Much love to any and everyone Male and Female who have had to live in silence with Sexual abuse....God be with us all.

contact me on ada.iheme84@gmail.com if u want to go ahead with this linda...xoxo!

Internet has given room for some senseless comments...An investigation is being made, statement from a mother and yet some senseless people still yearn dusts.

Do Nigerians ever think critical? Are we aware of conspiracy and set up? Get real, only the girl can identify the culprits, unless we want to waste all our money engaging some security men to carry out more abuses on innocent boys on compus.

This is really sad; and i pray the girls friends can encourage her to step forward so these ANIMALS can be identified.
Things need to change in Nigeria and i hope soon because this is horrible "GANG RAPE" ...God please protect us all because this could have been anyone.

As for this first lady of Abia i hope when this girl steps forward something is done. Because am sure if na ur pickin whether she dey fear talk now or later. You for don take all the lecturers and seize their pay making it EVERYONE'S duty to find these ANIMALS....I know how things play out when people have power; this is the time to help this girl.

Anonymous said...

In my opinion I think one of the best ways of dealing with issues like this is to try and encourage the girl to come forward. And to do this, safety must be guaranteed, international or any reputable women organisation like Amnesty International dealing with cases like this both within and outside the country should be involved. They have the necessary skills, expertises, resources and if required the political means to exact pressure on both the state Government and Nigeria government to act on this matter. I find it very disturbing when the governor his people in government coming out saying nothing like that happened in the state. Have any credible investigation been done, undercover detectives sent to the towns to gather information and then try an build a picture of the crime and thereby narrow it down to a specific area.where did the video emancipated from, etc. Also, has this crime been reported on any crimeshow in Nigeria to prick peoples mind and conscience. The government should come up with a reward scheme for anybody with any information leading to both the arrest and prosecution of the offenders.

I'm a man, but I think girls should be allowed to carry guns in self defence. There is no Justice in Nigeria. Its a Jungle where anything goes. Many thanks to PDP who has brought the country to its knees. Many thanks to the electorate who will always ensure that PDP continues to misrule them.

Anonymous said...

This is unfortunate. Instead of trying to get to the bottom of the matter, all these people in authority including Mrs governor are doing damage control.

Really unfortunate? The cause and justice for the victim had become lost with all the posturing.

Abia state you all can do something about this. Make her whole

Castrate them. Issues of rape are taken very lightly in Nigeria. When they start gang raping big mens children then you will see action.
Remember it took attacking Iyabo Obasanjo to put a stop to the spate of cross border armed robery a few years ago.

Anonymous said...

Linda, Please if you would. Pass it on to the authorities in charge to announce a reward for the capture and prosecution of those guys. I'm willing to contribute N100,000 (In Cash) to this reward. I'll be more than willing to give you my information if there is a better secured form that i can reach you (Like an Email). This incident really ticked me off and i think our society at large is even more in danger if these boys are not brought to books.

We have to name and shame them. I hope Linda publish my comment.

It's just sad. at this rate even the perpetrators of all the bombings in Nigeria are never going to be found.

is there a crime in adopting some CSI mechanisms to fishing out these people and deterring future criminals.

if with a Video, everyone is claiming it did not happen in their territory, then even if the identities of other criminals are disclosed everyone would feign not my territory......SMH

Anonymous said...

This girl might not be online. She might not even know about this Internet awareness of the case. However her face was shown clearly in the video and if any human rights NGO is really concerned, all they need to do is send someone to the campus to ask questions like plain cloths detective do. When they determine her identity which I'm sure lots of ABSU students know by now, then they can approach her quietly and reassure her of her safety, privacy etc.
For all we know, these boys could have threatened the girl that they will kill her or her Aunty or other family if she opens her mouth.
I pray justice is done.

Anonymous said...

I just saw the rape video, it was quite appalling. Unfortunately i dont think the guys will be caught because the girl will not step forward. Someone in the school who knows her would have reported anonymously but i dont think the girl is a student of the school. I suspect she is one of those undergrads who innocently or not visit university students. Sadly, this is where the story will end.

chi said...

The best thing is to take this case to AMNESTY INTL, where her safety will be guranteed and necessary rehab will be done. This is a trusted org that has fought for oppressed women all over the world. Forget these useless leaders cos their sons and brothers were the perpetators.Send the video to AI and give out their email addresses and phone numbers else this girl will never trust anybody or law enforcement agency to handle her case.

its not the abia fist ladys fault...she wouldnt act reasonalbly since its not her daughter dat was gang raped..i pray d same for her family members so dat dey can feel the pain the girl or her family are going thru.....dis does not exclude the stupid and incompetent vc

Linda, the best way to get this girl or her family and friends to come out is to attach a reward to their coming out. I am sure people who knows her have seen the video. We are ready to help raise funds for this purpose. This has to stop, it has been going on for 2 long in Eastern schools (Awka, ABSU, IMSU,IMT, OKO)

I guess if the girl was related to any of the government officials then they will ensure that the culprits are brought to book and punished.
I cannot imagine the lack of trust that everyone involved in solving this case has shown. I am ashamed that such an incident can happen in a civilized country as Nigeria. Maybe we need to seek help from the western world to be able to perform the basic duties of being responsible for the masses.
What a shame Abia state!!!

I have been hearing of this incident but did not take it too serious until i saw the video a couple of minutes ago.....the victim in question was even speaking Igbo and calling 2 of the rapists by name....begging them to stop and offering to pay them any amount to stop the act. From the little i know about investigation, the video has all the details needed to get this guys..the blue colour of the room, the make of the bed,the angle of light, the build of the door, the names of the culprits mentioned, the fact that one of them said he is a law student in final year and that he owns a car, one said he is an IT student, one said he had been hearing about her...meaning she must be a popular figure in the school

nwokoma said...

It is time the public take action by seeking out these beasts. Theodore Orji, His wife, the VC of ABSU have all denied the event.....This is calling on Nigerians, particularly Abians to rise up in an organized manhunt for the beasts. The beasts are professionals and from the video, they have been doing it for a while as they were careful not to show their face....and i suspect they are emboldened to do this and put it on social media because they have been doing it in the past and getting away with it: Thus it would not be far-fetched to assume they are frat boys. There are many leads....the law department and the SUG is a good place to start!

@Anon 12:16 and anon 12:18AM, both of you av screws missing from your brains. @ Nwokoma God bless u!
