THe lawlessness in Nigeria must come to an end.Who would believe that sane human beings would want to cover a crime like rape?.

I'm sorry, but it shows the average Ibo person's concience has a price and a very cheap price too. Until the Biafrans stop loving Money I dont think the East will progress as it should. this same love of money is why we couldnt present a Unified presidential candidate.

Anonymous said...

i thought they were trying to help and not wash their hands off the case. and whats with the warning!!! on the signs?. im confused and a little bit disappointed.

Kemi said...

Anonymous 10.29 you are no different from that lot with your hate inciting comments. How the hell are you helping? I don't care if you are a troll and using this to get comments - some things should not be the fodder for some people's stupid enjoyment.

They shud let d final years like me to write my exam in one day n get the bloody hell out of that sch coz i am so ashamed of being a student of ABSU. Wish i cud v a change of university

these same students have no doubt in the past been terrorised by the Abia 5. Do you know if the students have been threatened if they do not protest? VC denies rape, police denies rape, state govt denies rape - who will protect you even if you want to stand up? Unfortunately, every man for himself BUT very disappointed. This was their opportunity to speak up BUT i am not in their shoes....

Kemi, I am not ibo, but i live in the east. I am stating the obvious and not inciting any form of hate.
I have a right to express myself without being called "a troll" by you. I have a passion for the Ibo race, but until the Extreme love of money is dealt with, I dont see it developing as it should soon.
If you read papers regularly, you would see that Gov. Obi is commisioning a multi billion naira shopping mall in Abuja soon. Why didnt he build it in his state as his contribution to making Anambra the place to be? He loves money too much and wants to turn over what he has stolen from the poor quickly.
What i said may not make sense to you, but its the truth. All of these ones where paid by the state govt. It wont happen in UNILAG. Rather the boys would get the accused and deal with them for giving every male student a bad name.
A few people have been clamouring for a nigerian president to come from the east. if at this age they can be paid to carry placards agaubst humanity, they would be paid when their older to sell their hearts for a little more.

Ok, this crowd is a hired/rented group (i hope). That's the only explanation that makes any sense. The signs are all written by the same person; and how far with "Warning! We are not rapist"? That could not possibly have been written by someone in university.

Anonymous said...

@anonymous sept 30 10:29pm, you are so ridiculous. What has the actions of these foolish and grossly insensitive individuals got to do with an average ibo's ''conscience and price?" Pls learn to organize your thoughts before jotting them down hastily.
Moving on, I sincerely hope and pray that those rapists will not escape justice.

I watched a yoruba movie online yesterday titled eto ikoko. There is a fundamental problem with the way we as humans deal with issues of rape. The Victim is the ultimate loser as every one including family members urge her not to speak up in order to save face. My Fiance was raped in the Rwandan war. She told me about her ordeal right after we met and I have tremendous respect for her for speaking up and getting the culprits Jailed. How many men would remain with a woman who was raped by 5 men at a time? the society is sick but then who makes up the society if not US. We condemn others, yet when push comes to shove, we do basically the same thing. Dominique Stauss Kahn got away with rape because the Victim was not found credible despite Overwhelming Evidence of a sexual intercourse. Kobe Bryant got away with Rape despite admitting having intercourse with the victim. We as humans need to examine ourselves. I wont condemn the demonstrators because they are just being human.

Anonymous said...

Clearly this is a rented group or students that are willing to protest to ensure they pass. I would not be surprised if the rapists were amongst them. Losers.

Ikefirstlove said...

This is really shameful.i think until the average nigerian learns the 'all for one and one for all' philosopy we are a doomed nation.corruption, greed, injustice will continue to thrive cos no one wants to look out for anyone but themselves.if that girl was their sister, will they not fight until justice is done ??it may be rape today but police brutality, boko haram bombing,KAI killing,siren-blazing car bashers, wife and husband killers, adulterated kerosine explosion, death from bad roads, flood from blocked drains will surely affect one of them and na so dem no go fit talk.fools!lets learn from egypt, libya!!!

Itz fool hardly 2 ignore d fact dat every1 in nigeria,be it east, west, south or north loooooves money....nonetheless,dis crowd cldnt v been hired..itz jst students protecting deir interest,it wld av been d same if d rape incident had happened in any oda skul..

Anonymous said...

If these crowd were truly students of ABSU, then i wipe for the state of education in this country. No wonder people don't like hiring Nigerians' for anything but menial jobs unless they get a better education. How can a set of 'tomorrow's future leaders' take uninformed action? If anything should be condemned, it should be the said action of rape, instead of defended the school, state and pot bellied politicians.
I smell the hands of Abia state's governor and wife all over this.

Anonymous said...

You have got to be fucking kidding me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I first saw the pics of the protest, I was like, "yes! Thank God, the students are finally standing up for the girl" Not knowing that these IDIOTS are protesting against being called rapists? Are you serious?? You are worried about the reputation of your school, rather than standing up against RAPE?? Today, I can now say, I am ashamed to be called a Nigerian...smdh. A fool at 51 is a fool forever.

Anonymous said...

Also, have you noticed that the signs have the same handwriting? They are written by the same people.

Anonymous said...

I trust naija. They don bribe those guys to run round the streets. The sooner Nigerians realise that our politicians know that a mere thousand can buy a lot of Nigerians the better for us.

Anonymous said...

FOOLS AT 51 ,, will be FOOLS 4 EVA. its really a pity.. Even looking at these pictures, would we call these protesters serious student or IDIOTS THAT CANT EVEN WRITE THEIR NAME BUT USING SCHOOL AS COVER FOR PROSTITUTION AND ARMED ROBBERY.

Anonymous said...

@anonymous sept 30 10:29pm,your just a dumb ass motherfucker, what has ibo got to fo with this.Does it mean that its only ibo students that study in ABSU,people like you should go back to secondary school to learn how to read and understand. You just read a story and write whaterver you like.In your 2nd comment you mentioned Peter Obi,what has the shopping got to do with ibo and greed for money.Go outside Nigeria the west has more population than any other tribe in Nigeria if they don't like money why do they want to travel and make money.People like you will keep looking for money ritual cos your mind is poor and you believe it will work for you.Your comments are baseless. As for the protesters if they can fool thereselves on the street cos of a mere thousand, that is there own cup of tea.God should judge cos i dnt believe in a human Judgement

Anonymous said...

if we were objective enough...it is possible that it did not happen in ABSU.however, those guys should be brought to book. these studentss are just trying to protect their school's image, especially with the possibility that it did not happen in ABSU. i see nothing wrong with this, they clearly were against the act. objectively

Anonymous said...

linda, it seems most of the people commenting here never studied in a Nigerian University....thats how it is done in Naija. Nothing wrong with students protecting their school's image especially when it is possible what they say is true. Has nothing to do with corruption or bribe....come to naija and see

How much did they pay them? It won't pass 5K and one packet of Cabin biscuits. To the girls who participated in this in the face of violence against another woman, I can only pray that God will not allow this to happen to you or your daughters. Please say a big AMEN because that is very likely the only good thing that will happen to you in life after this.

I will say it and continue to say it.

IGBOS ARE THE MOST HATED TRIBE IN NIGERIA.

Look at how the tribalists (we even have a self-hating Igbo(?) in their midst) have used this scenario to generalize all of Igbos. For all we know the protesters may comprise a mix of several tribes considering the fact that it is a university ( representation in equal proportion when we regard the relative majority population of Igbos), but Igbos will always be blamed.

How come no one mentioned tribe for Edos when Linda posted the gang torture of lesbians in Ekpoma ( or is it Uniben)?

How come no one mentioned tribes for Northerners when Linda posted the gang rape of a Youth Corper in the north?

Double Standard.

Notice how no one (except Igbo commenters) has stepped in to decry the tribalism in this thread?

I am willing to bet that these silent but agreeing folks will transform into "one-Nigeria" "Anti-Tribalist" flag bearers and post once I call them out on their bullshit.

The exact scenario was played out in a thread concerning the Elite Model competition which had an Igbo winner. Several commenters left disparaging remarks about Igbos and NO ONE except Igbos called them on their BS for days on end. It is only when Igbos responded that "anti-tribalists" left a word or two about "One Nigeria."

Linda Ikeji, as an Igbo person yourself, what is your take on all of this? Why are you not addressing these issues? If this is not any of your concern, why are you letting horrible remarks like these pass through moderation for the world to see? SMH.

In any case, this protest indeed a shame on the part of students who are supposedly receiving an education. The dissociation of Nigerians from rape is a disturbing trend that shows that women are far from respected back home.

Wow! what a shame I AM DISGUSTED BY THIS! I see young men and even young girls...think about the victim in all of these. I hope the young girl, who was violated does not see any of these- what a sad life for her.
And to those bashing Igbos or people protecting their school; Igbo or not if any human being that heard what happened and can still participate in such demonstration is selfish and only thinking of themselves and not the issue that AN INNOCENT GIRL WAS RAPED AND VIOLATED BY FIVE YOUNG MEN. This child is FLIPPING SCARRED FOR LIFE. I pray that none of those girls, their sisters, their mom, grandmothers, children, cousins, friends etc never is a victim of rape. Because this is not one of those things that you wish on anyone for the sake of teaching them a lesson.

fatima said...

WOW! are those girls also matching in support of rape i weep. there will be more of such cases.

Hawt!Nne said...

ERR SORRY but it doesn't have to do with being igbo, the problem is Nigeria as a whole. Period! It is unfortunate that MOST Nigerians have a low sense of reasoning and those rapists will probably never be caught. Sad but true. Pls Linda quit showing us unnecessary news on the rape case such as this. It just reminds me how backwards most Nigerians are..

Ada said...

It is a shame what we let ourselves be used for... wen i was bout to open this piece i tot it was a protest against how the governments have handled things so far, alas it was the citizens standing against d victimised....Wow!!! God have mercy on us.....

And for those turning this into a TRIBAL BATTLE, dont be fooled....every part of naija has these traits in em... many of us sell out for peanuts n dats very real in Nig. Is it not northerners dat r killin fellow northerners all over d place??? Please focus on the real issue here, and dat is that we place too little a value on the right to a decent life in Nigeria..... Our values r long gone wit the wind!

you all are fools. Hw could u jst say things u r nt sure of with so mch hatred. Am a student of ABSU and i hv followed the case since the 16th of August. Secondly, that gurl is nt a student and if she is, she is definitely nt of my skul. You all should get the video and critically analys and listen to their conversations without a bias mind and u will hear things for urselves. I was among the protest. We are protesting because nobody is sure the evil happened in ABSU. Wen we first got the video, we were told it happened in IMSU, bt wat i dnt understand nw is why ABSU is being linked with the case. The victim has nt cum out to say anything, we are all just concluding and castigatng my skul withut being sure and i think its unfair. Please, gt facts b4 concluding and abusing people. Better still get the video and make ur own judgements. Mind u, we are protesting bcos the name of our skul is being rubbished so mind ur wicked mouths. Yes we are on strike, bt those of us whose houses are far remaind in skul no human being paid anybody a kobo to do anything. We hv nt even seen our Vice Chancellor since all these tins started. If really the victim was an ABSU student, trust me we wuld hv knwn and seen her. I knw my skul very well. All am saying is, if the victim, whr ever she is can cum out and proper investigations made, we will all be happy, even if it is laer traced to ABSU. For nw, pls, mind ur mouths. you all are fools. @11:57pm. I understand you are one of the shameless students of the school. I have just one favour to do for you. Follow this link. www.newsdiaryonline.com/rape_victim.htm The girl has been located and identified as one of your colleagues. Its so unfortunate we have unscrupulous students like you in this country

Anonymous said...

Anonymous october 2, 2011 11:57pm you are a moron. That you were part of that protest only shows how stupid and useless you are. This is not about where it happened, neither is it about the status of the lady rather it is about the evil deeds that were dished out on the lady. I'm beginning to think you were involved in that rape case, else you won't have the audacity to call anyone a fool for voicing their opinions. You are obviously a coward for not standing for what is right rather your selfish concern is to protect the name of your school /state. And so you know, I graduated from abia state university but I have chosen to reason objectively.

Anonymous said...

There is nothing wrong with the students protesting. This case has just been hearsay and of course with a video. The students are protesting about the image of their school. They are not saying the rape is okay. There has been no evidence that the rape was committed in absu by absu students so really lets stop being emotional.

dis children obviously have misplaced priorities.and i thought dey wer finally speaking up for the girl.how much dem pay una 4 dis show of shame abeg, yeye.wen will we finally get it right.bt again dey might not be ABSU students o,bt just people paid 2 do dis.wateva d case dis is rily bad and rape should not be condoned.all we hear is dt it didnt happen in ABSU,ok, irrespective where eva it happened wat has been done about it??.d girl must be going tru pains, smh.

fine gurl said...

i think it should be about the crime and the insensitivity on the part of the ABSU Students and not about the Ibo race.

Does it mean that non ibos do not comit worse crimes?

the ibos LOVING MONEY SHIT shouldnt have come into play here cos NOBODY hates money, its just that some people are practically foolish like these ones.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous october 2, 2011 11:57pm, have you seen how you ignorant fools went to protest against what you know nothing about? By coming out to admit that you are one of them only shows how painfully idle and stupid you really are. If your school is on strike and you cannot go home, use the time to study and be useful to the society rather than being a nuisance. if you're still in doubt that the rape victim is a confirmed student of Absu (*as if it really matters*), then follow the link that anonymous oct 3, 11:28pm has provided and stop being foolish.

Anon 11.57pm what in the world are u saying "it was nt a rape case, it was a planned ordeal."??????
A planned ordeal? does that erase the fact that carnal knowledge of the girl was had without her concept (which everyone that can speak and read english knows to be = rape) are u that daft??? You are a student and all u can do is to 'protect the image of ur school'? If ur younger sister is raped by even 2 guys, will u fold ur arms, do nothing in the bid to 'protect the image of ur family'? You are just a balless, myopic and stupid boy. take a little advise 'shut ur mouth if u lack something meaningful to say'!
