African pop diva, AngelĂque Kidjo has a case to answer. Her song Ae Ae, from the album Djin djin sounds so identical melodically to late Christy Essien-Igbokwe's famous hit song, Seun Rere. Some DJs and those knowledgeable in music think that the near similarity smacks of plagiarism. They say she should have at least given credit to Nigeria's 'Lady of Songs', who died recently. Edwin Igbokwe, Christy's husband expressed shock on listening to Kidjo's song and hearing his wife's melody brazenly plagiarized.
I have a feeling most of us are thinking the same thing. -The Djin djin album was released in 2007, why is this news now?'

look like they need money for burial....so they are trying to press charges...who knows....some cash may flow out of it.lol!!!
Just has you've rightly asked, why the news now? Xty never raised an eyebrow while she was alive, so was is the fume about?
I think( not so sure) that the copyright law permit d duplication of artistic work afta d death of the original artist.
I READ CHRISTY ESSIENS INTERVIEW BEFORE SHE DIED SHE TALKED ABOUT THE SONG BUT SHE DNT SOUND BITTER ABOUT IT SHE SAID IT WAS COS IT HAD A NICE TUNE AND ALL THAT SOME ONE REMIXED IT DONT KNOW WHY NAIJA PEOPLE LIKE TO MAKE MONEY FROM D DEAD LIKE THIS
They need money for the elaborate Ibo burial I guess.
Was she ibo? Don't think so.
first of all angelique kidjo released an album already a grammy winning, second of all christy passed away! So why are we talking about this now? If this is true it is so old news like who cares really.
