"Tell Us What Your $200m Donation To Entertainment Industry Is Meant For" Tunde Obe to FG

“I’m yet to understand what the money’s meant for. Who’s to manage the funds? Who’s to account for the funds? I’m a very active member of this industry, and if I can’t answer these questions with my level and reputation in the industry, I wonder what my younger colleagues would understand about the 200 million US Dollars. Maybe in subsequent months, somebody would be able to break it down for us on how the funds is to be utilized because it is Nigeria’s money. You can’t just say you want to give people money, what is it for? Is it a loan? And if it is, what are the modalities involved? How do you get access to these funds? Would such money be available in 20 years for another generation of this industry? I mean it’s not clear to me and the government should come out to explain what it is all about to us,” - Tunde Obe

why wait for govt to tell u what to do with the money again........they should use it to build a nollywood studios somewhere with sets etc, create a tourist haven!

its a bribe.....welcome to naija, they should just use the money wisely wetin concern them, these mo's shouldnt return it or share everything amongst themselves, they better turn this into a scheme that will keep generating profit, this one govt remember dem sef, forget their ulterior motives and make dat money work for naija movie industry.

This Jonathan Goodluck's government, i no trust them at all. The man hand no pure.

Just because everyone is raving for a change & desire a younger government doesn't mean you can fool us. The $200 million is to encourage nollywood to keep campaigning for Goodluck ...Goodluck to Nollywood!

Mark it somewhere, in the next three years this money will develop wings and disappear. Politicians and a few Nollywood cabal will embezzle the money and nobody will be probed , no one will go to jail.Meanwhile the so called entertainment practitioners who are supposed to enjoy soft loans will not be able to access this incentive fund so to say.....So I think Tunde Obey is asking the right question. The industry needs to be structured and modalities worked out not just for the purpose of this money but for sustainable development and wellbeing of the industry in the long run.

It beats me that our president would give a whooping $200m donation to the entertainment industry when our state schools are still on strike...It just beats me
May God help us in this country.
