BBA Evicts Hannington over assault.

Hannington has been evicted from the Big Brother House. M-Net spokeswoman Lani Lombard said Hannington Kuteesa breached the show's rules by assaulting contestant Lerato Sengadi on Tuesday, which prompted the channel to unilaterally evict him rather than allowing viewers to vote on it. Rights groups and viewers had called for his dismissal over the assault.

Lombard said Hannington, who was instructed to gather his belongings and leave the Johannesburg house within two hours, will be offered support and treatment after he leaves. She said Lerato, a resident of Soweto, in Johannesburg's southwest, will remain but will be admonished for participating in the expletive-filled scuffle, in which she yelled and pushed back after Hannington struck the side of her face.

I'm glad he was evicted. It doesn't matter what a woman does, you never lay hands on her. BBA has done well. This is a lesson to future BBA contestants...you can't hit or even shove a woman and expect to remain in the show. And we are also sending a strong message that violence and abuse of women is not tolerated in Africa.

You go Big Brother!!!

I approve of his removal but "

It should not be about her sex. It should be in total you should not hit people. Women get provoked and hit other women, men get provoked and hit other men that doesnt make it ok.

Would it be better if it was one of the female housemates that hit her? Would we have less interest in this? Or would we want bba to forgive her?

Whatever the sex, violence is not ok

........

So, what if a woman lays her hands on a man and wants to disable him for life??

Anybody, that hits anybody should be punished.Anybody that verbally abuses another should be punished.Anybody that provokes anybody and comes face level with another should be able to take whatever comes with provocation.Any woman/man that thinks she can say nonsense and will get away with it should pls go to Ojuelegba bustop and run her mouth to a bus conductor or Agbero..then come back here and tell us how it went

@Vanity , I totally agree with u. violence in any form isn't ok. It's just more painful when it's violence against women, cos we are the weaker sex.

my comment is based on the situation here. if it was a guy/guy or girl/girl, I would have also called for their eviction. violence is not OK! Absolutely not!

if it was a smaller guy and a bigger girl nko?

linda, not just violence against women, against anyone shudnt be condones. so if he had fought a man, u think he prolly shudnt have left?

its ok he left but lerato had it coming, prolly not the first time she's been slapped, she's too mouthy.

Linda babes, I love you and all but I have to question your focus on gender. Why do you keep insisting that it was because he hit a woman. No man or woman has a right to lay their lands on another human being (irrespective of their gender). I'm glad that he got evicted. He definitely crossed the line. Even if he did that to another man, BBA has an obligation to evict him. 'Tis All.

@ladydi...yeah i agree with u. i already said that in my previous comment

This is great news. It sends a messge out there that it is wrong to hit a woman.

The truth is that it was the BBA press release that made it a gender issue. Anyway, the guy had to go

Linda, you are smarter than this.
How can you not care what a woman does?
Abuse of any kind is wrong.Be it verbal, sexual, physical or even emotional.
So when is BB going to evict Lerato for being drunk?
btw, i hope this is the last instalment of this BB crap?Enough of this unproductive stuff.
folks need to get a real life.

Women should also be admonished to control their tongues... Lerato is too mouthy.... I am a woman, and i absolutely detest violence against women, but Lerato's uncouth and very rude attitude and statements annoy me (a viewer). Hannington is out, good precedence; but Lerato's punishment is rather light. I think whilst condemning every form of violence against women, we should remember to remind women that men have got feelings too and shouldn't just run our mouths the way we want . Respect has to be reciprocal!

When it comes to this, we are the weaker sex but for other things we claim equity with men. Na wa.

i love the commenters on the this post. indeed, women need to start respecting themselves to save their own hide. it takes the discipline instiled by God in anyone to walkaway when a lousy woman is talking and that is what lerato is. am sorry to sound like a heathen but she brought this upon herself. u watch ur opponents body language, so u dont get urself beat up nonsense. believe me, this isnt the first time lerato is being beaten up,not with the way she is! the surprise she felt is cos its on intl television.

I totally agree with most of the previous comments. it shouldnt be a gender issue because Lawd knows Lerato was running her mouth like some crazy girl. there have been so many fights in BBA5 even in the previous week involving Uti,Yacob,Kaone and the likes.
violence is what we should be condemning and not all these right groups campaign that people are jumping behind.
I'm also glad that she is serving some sort of punishment.

Abeg make I hear word jare!...Richard openly MOLESTED Ofunneka, he got to stay and surprisingly, Africa gave him the money. What has that got to say about the show and we Africans as a whole. Apparently, sexual harassment is condoned. Big Brother Africa is a joke. In fact we Africans are a big joke. I lost my respect for that show after that incident.

whatever girl, they both need help. that's all i can say.

@ ibo omoge - really? Richard molested ofunneka??? are u sure it wasn't the other way round? Perhaps you should go and watch the numerous clips on youtube on that incident and see the way Richard was shouting 'ofunneka leave, me, please leave me' - why do you think the entire issue was hushed??? They were bnoth drunk and she clearly threw herself on him... If there were not cameras there - na so she for begin hala sey na rape or molestation...long hissssssssssss

I think they need to ban alcohol from that BBA house, it seems to be the catalyst for much of the fcukery that happens. I watched the clip and I also think Lerato should be dismissed from the house as well. She has a problem with verbally abusing people. She was the aggressor in the situation if you ask me, getting in Hannington's face.

Please don't miscontrue this as me saying Hannington was okay to hit her, but she was physically threatening to him as well. Punish her too.

richard did not molest ofunneka, neither did ofunneka molest him. Richard was the one that started the whole thing, in her drunkeness she was receptive, if you notice Ofunnneka leave me was for the benefit of tatiana, as he fingered her he laughed like a crazed maniac, ofu was enjoying it as well, truth be told ofu was more sloshed than richard. to end this discussion, richard is not a male friend you would want to drink with or he would finger you and scream leave me!

and yeah i love both hannington and Lerato, they were both wrong. Hannington did the ultimate no! no! there are consequences, i remember during the revolutions he would throw tantrums like a child, cream obscenities...........it was almost comical, the way he expressed his anger, i thought he was doing it for the camera. seems he wasnt. He can only get stronger from this. wish them both luck and lotsa therapy.

Linda, why wouldnt u say anything about women putting themselves in a position of respect? a woman that always want to say 10 things back when a man says 1 would someday drive d man out of his mind.
its supposed to be a two way thing. we are supposed to look 4 a way to co-exist not just crucifying d man and not making a woman realise that u hhave to respect men too. lerato too could have stayed out d 1st time she left.

"I don't care what a woman does, you never lay hands on her."

IT'S SO UNBELIEVABLE HOW SOME PEOPLE REASON.SO IT'S GOOD FOR A WOMAN TO ASSAULT A MAN VERBALLY.EVENDOE I DON'T SUBSCRIBE TO VIOLENT.BUT WE SHUD NOT BE AFRAID TO CALL A SPADE A SPADE.NO ASSAULT SHOULD BE CONDOLE,WHETHER PHYSICAL OR VERBAL.

I've never watched BBA but following this blog, watched a few clips and my Question is, why is that girl still in the house, if he goes, she goes, violence either way is not acceptable. Also why did all the statues in the house(I am assuming that's what fellow house mates were) not intervene earlier before allowing such a situation to escalate. She was so out of control(wine?) and sought aggravation as a means of seeking attention. Every clip with her seemed to be all about her, she doesn't like being ignored. People like that can be self destructive, insecure and needy. In time people will turn on her en-mass & unless she adopts a more matured outlook to life, life will drown her. Re:Hannington? She annoyed you, was in your face, you'd had enough? Then Walk away, the fact that you chose not to meant you were arrogant and assumed that you could finally be the "hero" who sorts her out once and for all, probably that's why the statutes stood back and did nothing in the hope that you will be the scape goat and guess what? You lost.
