In 2008, Akinnifesi graduated from the University of Lagos with a degree in Geography and Regional Planning, second class upper division, and was also first runner-up in the Nigerian version of Strictly Come Dancing, Celebrity Takes 2 Dance, in 2007. Recently she launched her own public relations and usher-hiring business Elle Poise.
In June 2009, Akinnifesi was appointed Environmental ambassador by the Lagos state governor Babatunde Fashola.

Omowunmi, is just naturally gorgeous. I'm impressed and very proud of her. My brother thinks she's one of the most beautiful woman, and has a huge crush on her.
Omowunmi is Nigeria's best Beauty Queen ever. She is so adorable and really is a breath of fresh air. This babe has no bad press wots so ever. And she's just paving the way for a disiplined, stylish,focused and original generation. No other beauty queen can be soo gorgeous n still take part in a dance competition. Most of them are stiff n plastic. She put herself out there. I think she is very deep n just likes to sometimes play dress up. i think this babe is deeper than wot we see. Its scary.
