What's the difference between 'I love you' and 'I am in love with you' ? Someone said there's a difference and I have absolutely no idea what that difference is... Does anyone know?

Ok, I love you: you can love anyone i.e your brother, mother, friends and your dog. But you can’t be in Love with them. You can only be in love with someone you are intimate with i.e. your girlfriend, boyfriend or you wife I hope i answered your question

Well, i love you can be said to by a friend, family, but I am in love is like used between lovers. Like when a man is really in love with his woman or a woman really in love with her man. I am in love with you has this intensity and deep feeling that goes with it.
Hey linda, howdy?i have always agreed that there is indeed a difference.I think loving someone[instance one]can be likened to the kinda love one feels for a sibling or very close friend while being in love is the romantic, never want to live without the person in your life, all roads lead to the perdon kinda love..Its slightly inexplicabe.Being in love can be a total, consuming, somewhat ephemeral feeling..hope all this isnt confusing..lol..cheers..ps-a fan.
It depends on the context. You can love someone but not be in love with the person. I love my brother, but i'm not in love with my brother (God NO!!! LOL!). I love you is more of feeling of caring, while I'm in love with you is more of a feeling of passion. I think the problem is in English language we have one word describing all types of love so it gets confusing. The Greek had 3 different words for love (I think)philia (I love you), agape (I love God), and eros (in love with you). Hope I helped. :-)
I guess I think of "I love you" to mean I care about you, I'm loyal to you, I'll go to bat for you while "I'm in love with you" has some sort of corporeal feeling attached to it plus all the other stuff :-0
Alla dem na lie. In which world, person never see anytin. *joke* "I love you" in my opinion is a passionate desire for someone, "I am in love" means there's a thin line between love and hate. That means one can easily fall in and out of love with the individual. You get me.
other bloggers have pretty much answered the question. i love you- general love, you can love your mum, dad, friend, even your boyfriend. but when you are in love, it means you cant live without the person, you are head over heels for that person, you def. cannot be in-love with you parents or sibing. DIG!!!
i'm no professional but.. to me, "i love u" is more Ist Corin 13 ish while "i'm in love with you" is more intimate like I'm attracted 2 u.. i want 2 wife u or husband u.. whichever is d case
hey that's just the same as a guy telling you that he enjoyed having sex with you he might just love you maybe coz of the way you look but he has no connection with you what so ever. ut when a guys says i enjoyed making love to you he was both physically and emotionally connected just like when he says i'm in love with you, he doesn't only mean the way you look he needs both ur looks and the person you are like your characteristic behaviour etc hope i answered that one lol

I will tell my mum "i love you" and tell my man "i'm in love with you". Thinking about it's strange.....and i can't for the life of me say why

theres no difference!! all na the same thing!
YES I AM FIRST!!!!
I think ONe means I care about you as a person, the other one is kinda of like I can't live without you. you mean the world to me!!
YES I AM FIRST FINALLY!!!
Your parents "love you"..
You are "in love with" your boyfriend...
one is more generic than the other.
same difference
i can say i love you to a guy but saying i'm in love with you is much more deeper and passionate

To love is a feeling. Being in love is a sensation - a reaction to the person, as opposed to a feeling from within yourself.
