As ironic as it seems, Michael Jackson's children wear masks in public when with him specifically so that they can lead as normal UNMASKED lives as possible when in public without him, like with their nannies and stuff. Since most of the media and crowds have only ever seen the kids with masks on, they are completely oblivious to them without masks and without MJ. I thought it was disgraceful at first too, but thinking it over now it sort of makes sense.
