Photo: Young man painted white for stealing and made to walk 250 metres down the street

A young man had his whole body painted white and made to walk down the street as punishment for stealing a 63-year-old pensioner's cellphone on Tuesday, November 10. Gezani Munwanati from Makuleke Village in Limpopo, South Africa, said the boy, 20, went into his bedroom and stole the cellphone.

Eiffel Tower evacuated following terrorist attacks in Paris

Anti-terror police in France have evacuated the area around the Paris Eiffel tower, one of France biggest tourist sites. The police are at the Pullman Hotel on Avenue de Suffren near the Eiffel tower, armed with automatic weapons taking cover and training their weapons on the Pullman hotel for fear of another attack.

Model causes fury by posting raunchy 'gun salute' pics during Paris attacks

Model Imogen Anthony sparked fury by posting a photo online where she posed topless and mimicked a gunman, as news of the Paris shootings was breaking. The 24-year-old Australian shared the image on Instagram after news emerged that over 127 people had died at the hands of Islamic extremists. A commenter alerted Imogen to the poor timing of her Instagram post, telling her to “check the news”.  Fans sympathised with Imogen after she realised her mistake and quickly deleted the disrespectful photo.

Four people are confirmed dead after a plane crash in Somerset

Avon and Somerset police released a statement verifying two men and two women were killed when their light aircraft plummeted into a field. The six-seater plane had departed from the Surrey area towards Dunkeswel Aerodrome – an airfield in east Devon. The accident occurred at 11.44am today. The Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) is investigating.

Suicide bomber had ticket to the match but hero security guards stopped him

One of the Paris suicide bombers had a ticket to the France vs Germany friendly in the Stade De France but was stopped by hero security guards who stopped and frisked him. A security officer working on the night, who only wanted to be named as Zouheir, said the bomber was frisked by one of his team as he tried to get into the game 15 minutes after kick-off.

Apple apologises for kicking out African school boys over fear "they might steal something."

Following the backlash they received after a group of black Maribyrnong College students uploaded a video of them being denied entry into one of their stores in Melbourne, Australia, on Facebook, the Tech giant, which many people on social media accused of racially profiling its customers, issued a statement on Friday, November 13, from its head office in the US, apologizing for the incident.
"We’ve looked into the details of the situation and we apologise to the customers involved," the statement said.  "We will continue to do everything in our power to ensure all our customers are treated the way they should be. We believe in equality for everyone, regardless of race, age, gender, gender identity, ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation. That applies throughout our company, around the world with no exceptions."

Air France flight #AF1741 scheduled to take off at 14:45 from Amsterdam to Paris was grounded due to a bomb threat from a twitter account. All passengers were taken out of the plane and a thorough search was conducted. Dutch police released statement that nothing was found after the search. Latest reports reveals that the plane has departed Amsterdam.

Court awards N500 million to King Sunny Ade over copyrights infringement 30 years after he sued

A Federal High Court on Friday, November 13, awarded King Sunny Ade N500 million as damages for copyright infringement. Also included was an additional N3 million for prosecuting the case.
This is coming thirty years after the Juju music legend took record manufacturing company African Songs and its subsidiary Take Your Choice Stores to court.
 
The two companies were ordered to pay the sum by Justice James Tsoho of the Federal High Court in Lagos, while delivering judgment in the suit first instituted by the musician in 1975.

ISIS claims responsibility for Paris terror attacks, says France would remain at the top of its list of target

The Islamic State group on Saturday claimed responsibility for a wave of attacks in Paris that left more than 120 people dead and at least 99 people injured on Friday night, and warms that the killings were the "first of a storm" In a statement released in Arabic, English, French and Russian, the group said its fighters donning suicide explosive belts and wielding machine guns carried out the targeted attacks in several locations in the French capital.

Another wanted Boko Haram kingpin arrested

The Borno State Command of Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested another suspected high profile Boko Haram terrorist, Danladi Abdullahi at Moduganari area of Maiduguri metropolis this morning. A statement from the Nigerian Army spokesperson, Col Sani Usman states that it has been positively established that Danladi is suspect number 26 on the list of the declared suspected Boko Haram terrorists issued by the Nigerian Army last month.

Lawyer Valentin Ribet, a graduate of the London School of Economics, has been named as one of the over 127 people killed in the Paris terror attacks on Friday night.
"Lawyers have lost one of their colleagues, Valentin Ribet. We share the pain of his family and friends. We are thinking of them," the Paris union of lawyers said in a statement.
The London School of Economics (LSE) tweeted about the sad death of Ribet who graduated from the university in 2014. "Our hearts are filled with sadness at this news,"

3 of the French attackers have been identified as Syrian, Egyptian and 1 from Paris

One of the terrorists involved in last night's attacks in Paris has been officially identified as a Parisian, according to local media reports.

The man, who was killed at the Bataclan, was identified using his fingerprints and was from the southern Parisian neighbourhood of Courcouronnes.

Uterus transplants may soon help infertile women in the U.S. become pregnant

Within the next few months, surgeons at the Cleveland Clinic expect to become the first in the United States to transplant a uterus into a woman who lacks one, so that she can become pregnant and give birth. The recipients will be women who were either born without a uterus, had it removed or have uterine damage. The transplants will be temporary: each uterus will be removed after the recipient has had one or two babies, so she can stop taking transplant anti-rejection drugs.
