Photo: Owner of Bakery demolished at Rumens road, Ikoyi paid N5m in rent yesterday

BBC News producer Steph Hegarty disclosed that the owner of bakery demolished at Rumens road, Ikoyi, paid N5 million in rent yesterday, August 31. The Bakery, along with other shops were demolished today because the landlord allegedly failed to pay 40 million Naira permit.

  6. I feel for the bakery owner I can't imagine how bad he feels right now, but they should stop making it look like it's the government are evil doers, blame the landlord instead cus they can't demolish building without warnings,fish the landlord out and sue his sorry a** shekenan!

  15. tenants suffering for landlord's negligence. Instead of the Lagos State govt to charge the Landlord to court for not paying for his permit they're taking out on the tenants, most likely cos the landlord "get mouth"...

  27. Can someone ask Lagos State Government what due process was followed : did they get a court order to tear down third party property irrespective of what landlord owes the State? Jungle justice because landlord never settle correct people. If Lagos State can collect 40 m for 100 metres of property why are we not developed like Dubai????
