Photos: Senator Shehu Sani distributes 100,000 transistor radios to members of his constituent

Senator Shehu Sani representing Kaduna Central in the senate, distributed 100,000 transistor radios to members of his constituents in Kaduna state yesterday January 24th. According to him, the transistor radios will help raise the political consciousness of the people. He said;

“We come from the part of the country where the major and most important source of information is the radio. Radio is an empowerment, a form of education and enlightenment. It enables people to have access to information and also have an opportunity to express themselves. I am sharing it to the downtrodden within the cities and the rural areas so that they would be abreast with what is happening within their own locality, national and state" he said

  30. I thought this Shehu Sani is a serious man, not knowing he is a full-time comedian. Transistor radio at this stage of innovation, why can't he get them a cheap android phone and a Central WiFi in a strategic place or village square for them to access.

  51. Rubbish! When will we grow beyond all these mundane and trite gestures?? How does this improve the lives of his constituents??

    ReplyDelete
  52. Well, I'm a northerner who studied communication and I understand what this man just did. you might see it as some form of stupidity but he studied and understood what the typical northerner cherishes -radio information. Statistically, apart from China, northern Nigeria has the highest number of radio listeners in the world. If Ben Bruce shares money to his people, it's because he understands them and that's what every leader should do. It's an amazing move knowing that the level of information creation, and reception will flow better. Don't always be in a rush to comment without understanding a situation. If he buys phones for them, would he buy credit or data? Headphones and the rest? Now think it through and see that this man is trying to keep in touch with his people at a personal level.
    You can call the Hausa man a Mallam or an Aboki but it doesnt stop him from having the kind of information that he has. You have a phone to surf the internet. You have a TV at home and all of the recent gadgets but that Kchibo radio that he has gives him better and quality information than what your internet enabled phone can give...

  55. Spot on Senator. Information is indeed a veritable source of development. That's why they say "if you are not informed, you are deformed" and if you deformed, well of course you cannot perform. Knowledge is power.
