We may downsize or cut down on salaries- Nigerian Governors Forum

Governors under the umbrella body of the Nigerian Governors Forum say they may have to downsize the number of Civil Servants on their payroll or reduce the salaries of civil servants following the dwindling revenue generated from the Federal and state levels.

Rising from their meeting in Abuja yesterday November 18th, one of the governors, Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state who spoke with newsmen, said there was no way the country could continue with a situation where expenditure is more than income.

“We are faced with a situation where we either have to reduce cost through salary reduction or downsize. All these we don’t want to do but prefer to have a roundtable with the president, ministers, economists to look for means of getting out of this problem.”he said
On his part, the Chairman of the NGF and Niger state governor Abdul’aziz Yari said the falling price of oil has made it difficult to pay the N18,000 minimum wage
“The situation is no longer the same when we were asked to pay N18,000 minimum wage, when oil price was $126 per barrel and continued paying N18,000 minimum wage when the oil is $41 per barrel and the source of government expenditure is from oil, and we have not seen prospects in the oil industry in the near future. We are coming together in a roundtable with President Buhammadu Buhari and his team of ministers, technocrats, economic experts to see how we can tackle our situation.”he said

      Very fucked up pple
Instead of looking for ways to generate income the idiots are talking about reducing d ordinary man salary

Wat exactly is the job of a governor??? Isn't it these civil servants that do all wok???

Let them cut down on unscrupulous allowances both in the national assembly and as state governors. Imagine d baboons still relying on oil

    8. 90 dollars a month is the minimum wage compare that to 10 dollars an hour in New York which is their minimum wage and the so called GIANT of AFRICA cannot pay that, complains of brain drain and wants people to earn nothing from extremely corrupt officials who do no know their worth because they lack the knowledge. Even homeless Americans on social welfare earn 778 dollars a month. In Ireland , people on social welfare earn 800 Euro a month. In the uk they earn about 500 pounds a month. However a worker earning 90dollars a month and pays more for fuel than Americans or British people is going to have more of his pay cut. If Nigeria does not force legislators to start earning what civil servants earn after all they are employed like civil servants , then this country is doomed !!!

    1. Are they for all? To begin with, how much is even the salary of civil servants? Can't believe even in the FCT here ,some ministries are giving out peanut of 54k as salary to graduates.
Instead of slashing salaries of civil servants, how about cutting down their frigging expenses & allowances? The very day they try that bulshit, that's the very day I lose confidence in this regime. This isn't frugality, this is wickedness

  21. Governors here's an advise. Down size your salary first and then all those in government with you. If downsizing is still needed then you may downsize civil work pay by the same percentage (%) as you did yourself and those in government with you. This downsizing should be temporary for civil workers.

  22. U ppl better bring down ur salary and leave regular civil servants alone
