The United States government helped Boko Haram immensly by refusing to classify them as a terrorist organisation until 2014 and by refusing to sell us arms to fight them. Worst still, they imposed an international arms embargo on us so that we could not buy arms from anyone else in the international community. When asked why they are doing this to us they tell us that it is because of the Leahy Act which prohibits them from selling arms to governments that violate the human rights of their own citizens.

The phones no longer ring By Reuben Abati
A very interesting article by former President Jonathan's spokesman, Reuben Abati. Read below...first published on Sunday Vanguard
As spokesman to President Goodluck Jonathan, my phones rang endlessly and became more than personal navigators within the social space. They defined my entire life; dusk to dawn, all year-round. The phones buzzed non-stop, my email was permanently active; my twitter account received tons of messages per second.
Drake's alleged ghostwriter defends him
Earlier this week rapper Meek Mill ripped into Drake on social media, accusing him of not writing his own lyrics and outed a guy named Quentin Miller as Drake's "ghostwriter". Quentin, who is credited on Drake's album, speaks up in his defense. Below is what he wrote on his Tumblr page, (but note that Quentin mentioned he met Drake in 2014. Drake has been dropping hot lyrics longer than that)
Winter 2014… I was just another guy working a job he hated with a passion for music…. And somehow found myself on the phone with One of my idols. I told him I worked in a bakery and his exact words were “Fuck that, your destined for greatness"…
Hearing that from someone that I’ve been studying since 2009, bar for bar…. Theres no way to describe that.. Most of the project was done before i came in the picture.. i remember him playing it for me for the first time thinking "Why am I here?” like.. what does he need me for??

Why I can’t pay workers salaries - Rauf Aregbesola
Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State says the drop in allocations to the state from the Federation Account is largely responsible for his inability to pay his state civil servants their salaries. Aregbesola said this after he received an award by the Voice of African Women for Human Dignity, an NGO at Abuja yesterday July 24th.
"I have found it hard to pay the wage bills owing to the declining federal allocation to the state. Federal allocation to the state has reduced by 40 per cent since 2013, thereby making it difficult for my government to meet its responsibilities,” he said.
Kenya rejects US gay rights agenda, what Obama said about it today
"The US believes in the principle of treating people equally under the law and that they are deserving of equal protection under the law.and that the state should not discriminate against people based on their sexual orientation and I say that recognizing that there may be people that have different religious or cultural beliefs but the issue is how does the state operate relative to people. You can look at the history of people around the world. When you start treating people differently not because of the harm they are doing to anybody but because they are different, that's the path whereby freedom is beginning to erode.

Victoria Donda Perez's eight-month-old daughter was hungry while she was attending a meeting in Argentine National Congress earlier this month so she whipped out her breasts and fed her in the full glare of everyone. She is being hailed as a role-model for women and the picture had further opened up a conversation on public breastfeeding. What do you think? How many women would do same? Some women said that they would rather go into the car or restroom to breastfeed their children.

This woman became an internet sensation this week after someone posted this photo of her on a train platform in London, on his Facebook page. Photos of Barack Obama in Kenya in 1988, 1992, 2006
President Barack Obama has visited his father's homeland a few times in the past; in 1988, 1992, 2006 before his visit yesterday. His first visit was in 1988. He was on a
journey of self-discovery to know more about his heritage and his
father, who split from his mum 2 years after he was born.
On his second trip in 1992, he traveled with Michelle, who was his fiancee at the time. They married a few months after that visit. He wanted Michelle to meet his paternal grandmother & other extended family members.
He then visited in 2006 as a US senator. He moved around relatively freely and visited his father’s grave and his grandmother’s tin-roof house. Two years later, he became the president of the United States of America. (he's pictured with his grandmother above). More photos after the cut...

Why I allowed Abacha arrest me - Obasanjo
Former President Obasanjo has disclosed reasons why he
allowed former head of state, Sani Abacha to arrest him in March 1995 for allegedly conspiring abroad against the Abacha regime, despite many
opportunities to escape and accept an offer of political asylum by the US.
Leadership reports
Leadership reports
Obasanjo was among the opposition lights that were against the regime of the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, who ordered their arrest, trials and sentences but spared their lives due to international pressure. Abacha was the most senior military officer in the illegal contraption called Interim National Government led by Chief Ernest Shonekan after the military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, was forced to resign over the historic annulment of the June 12 June, 1993 election won by Moshood Abiola, who later died in the military gulag.

Have you always been keen on suits?
There have been different moments in my life when I was really into them. Some of the earliest pictures I have are of me in a suit in Nigeria, when I was like five or six years old, with my father. He used to wear three-piece suits and walk with a cane.
US-based lady accuses Timaya of rape, shares voice recordings and chats
My attention was just drawn to an instagram page opened yesterday by an Atlanta based lady, who is accusing popular Nigerian singer Timaya of rape. The anonymous lady shared chats between herself and a person she claims is Timaya, she also shared voice recordings from their phone conversations. The last thing I want to do is ruin a career but if a lady cries rape, the media has a duty to at least hear her out but bear in mind that these are all allegations. Before posting the voice recordings, I played it to a few entertainers who confirmed that it's truly Timaya's voice, but at no point did he directly admit to rape...though he was begging the lady for forgiveness.
I will definitely reach out to Timaya for his own side of the story. For now, read the chats and listen to the voice recordings after the cut...
