The United States government helped Boko Haram immensly by refusing to classify them as a terrorist organisation until 2014 and by refusing to sell us arms to fight them. Worst still, they imposed an international arms embargo on us so that we could not buy arms from anyone else in the international community. When asked why they are doing this to us they tell us that it is because of the Leahy Act which prohibits them from selling arms to governments that violate the human rights of their own citizens.

Just got photos from the scene of the accident that killed him. The accident happened just a few kilometers from his house. He got the news of his withdrawal from the medical school two days ago and told his friends he no longer had any reason to live. He then drank a lot, drove at high speed without wearing his seat belt, entered a sharp bend and straight to a curvet and hit a passerby. He and the passerby died on the spot. Why I can’t pay workers salaries - Rauf Aregbesola

Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State says the drop in allocations to the state from the Federation Account is largely responsible for his inability to pay his state civil servants their salaries. Aregbesola said this after he received an award by the Voice of African Women for Human Dignity, an NGO at Abuja yesterday July 24th.

"I have found it hard to pay the wage bills owing to the declining federal allocation to the state. Federal allocation to the state has reduced by 40 per cent since 2013, thereby making it difficult for my government to meet its responsibilities,” he said.

Benue State University student dies after he's withdrawn from medical school after spending 10yrs

His name is Idoko Nicholas Inalegwu and he was a medical student of Benue State University, Makurdi. He died recently in an unexplained accident. His friends think he committed suicide because he had fallen into heavy depression after receiving news of his withdrawal from medical school after spending 10 years.

According to Benue.com, after the student died, medical students of the school took his coffin and deposited it at the office of the vice chancellor in protest, blaming the school's action for his death. See the photos after the cut...

Timaya denies rape, says US-based accuser is blackmailing him

So I have reached out to Timaya to hear his side of the story and he denies rape. Speaking exclusively with LIB, Timaya said it was consensual sex and the girl is now blackmailing him. Timaya admitted that he hooked up with the girl (pictured above) in his Atlanta hotel, but says she agreed to the sex.

He said the girl, who he has been talking to for about a year, contacted him when she found out he was in the US for his tour and bugged him to see him. He told her where he was and she came to see him. He said from the minute she entered the room, she started filming him.

There have been different moments in my life when I was really into them. Some of the earliest pictures I have are of me in a suit in Nigeria, when I was like five or six years old, with my father. He used to wear three-piece suits and walk with a cane.

US-based lady accuses Timaya of rape, shares voice recordings and chats

My attention was just drawn to an instagram page opened yesterday by an Atlanta based lady, who is accusing popular Nigerian singer Timaya of rape. The anonymous lady shared chats between herself and a person she claims is Timaya, she also shared voice recordings from their phone conversations. The last thing I want to do is ruin a career but if a lady cries rape, the media has a duty to at least hear her out but bear in mind that these are all allegations. Before posting the voice recordings, I played it to a few entertainers who confirmed that it's truly Timaya's voice, but at no point did he directly admit to rape...though he was begging the lady for forgiveness.
