Lagosians on twitter go after people making an attempt to blemish Fashola's work

I am a Fashola fan so I support this..:-). So here's what happened last night. A hashtag was created on twitter by those opposing APC Guber candidate, Ambode, to not only campaign against him but to also slam incumbent Governor, Fashola, with the claim that he did nothing worthwhile for the state as governor. Those who witnessed Fashola's two terms and knew how Lagos was before took to twitter to defend him. When you do good work, people notice. See more tweets after the cut...

The state fire service that Fashola launched is 1000% better than Federal fire service. It looks unbelievably foreign. Call them and find out...lol..What about the freeway Ambulances. What about tree planting to protect our ecosystem? What about the iba express road that was miraculously transformed? What about the beautification of many parks. What about the sign posts on your street? What about security. He empowered the police with over 100 ICT centres. Abeg go to other states and compare. Fashola try well well. Na my #Mentor. What is the principal interest of the Igbos in Lagos? What do we seek to achieve in our sojourn here? My take is simple. We seek a prosperous Lagos that is economically viable, peaceful....a mini Nigeria of sorts where all people are able to live and pursue their livelihood without let or hinderance. As a people that thrive on commerce, Igbos want a Lagos where there are government policies that promote the growth of commerce and business. A Lagos where government builds roads, bridges, hospitals and is generally alive to their duties.Education is free in Lagos and our children enjoy this.No Igbo child has been sent away from any public school in Lagos. Lagos state government pays WAEC and NECO fees for all students in Lagos....our children enjoy this too. What do we really want in Lagos? The truth is that we are strangers here. Lagos belongs to some people, just like Onitsha and Aba. Let's not carry on as if this place is a no man's land. It is not!
All of a sudden, Jimi Agbaje has become an Igboman.we have adopted him as our son.....the same way we adopted President Jonathan in the last election against our strategic interest as a people...a decision that has left us in serious political confusion and our senators begging to be admitted into the APC.What is the difference between Jimi Agbaje and Akinwumi Ambode? Is any of them Igbo? What is our problem? I believe that we have a fair share here. We live in peace unlike our people in the North. I don't think there are more Igbos in Lagos than there are in Kano, yet we live peacefully here. Yorubas are highly politically sophisticated people and they understand that it is better for them to have a government in Lagos that belongs to the same party as the party at the centre. Igbos cannot love Lagos more than Yorubas. This is their land. If anything happens here now, we will all leave and return home..contd

They are taxed heavily, there markets burnt down because Fashola wants to claim the property, inner streets are untarred with huge holes eating them up, the agbero's nko? his molue's and their mad driving nko? what about his money making Lastma's? 21. It is matter of opinion. Most of the developments in Lagos are private developments. Some are foriegn investments. Lagos is the commercial capital of Nigeria so companies inevitently invest here. The basic necessity of life which is CLEAN CLEAR PIPE BORNE WATER is one thing the Lagos state govt has not been able to give us. Third mainland bridge was built by the Fed. Govt. The only development that is really worth while to us that is the LCC Lekki Epe expressway we are being heavily tolled. Meanwhile they have paid up the banks that financed the project. Lagos state govt. Taxes heavily and collects huge revenues every month. Fashola has worked but believe me with the money he is collecting it will would have been stupid for him not to have put something in place for people to see that their taxes where being made use of. One thing i will give him kudos for is management, Lawma and beautification projects

    2. I heard that they are campaigning to pull down David Cameron in the forthe coming elections in May because of heavy taxation eg. BEDROOM TAX. Also you have a welfare system with the NHIS and income benefits. Meanwhile in Nigeria there is no cushion. The average Nigerian tends for himself and does not expect much feom the govt.

The new Lekki and Ajah AREAS has been completely messed up for life because Fashola and Co. made a mess of the entire town planning.

Or is it the (3) Round abouts and traffic we go through everyday because Fashola and his crew refused to build Fly-overs.

"Clearing Oshodi" should no be a measure for good governance, remember Lagos used to be the Capital of Nigeria.

I don't blame you guys for praising Fashola... because We are a blind Nation, so when we see street lights at nite and flowers during the day.... Then we say Fashola is the best....Nonsense. He once said that he doesn't see his works as accomplishments, rather he saw them as problems solved. How could you not love a leader like that? He has done well. He has delivered. So let him be, don drag him into this abeg.

  83. Dear Lagosian,

Yorubas are very decent and reasonable people. No tribe will entertain on their land what is going on in Lagos.

We all condemn the statement of OBA AKIOLU. But let ask ourselves one important question, WHY IS OBA AKIOLU ANGRY WITH IGBOS?

    My answers are:

    1. I WILL ELEVATE EZE NDIGBO TO THE STATUS OF OBA OF LAGOS - JIMI AGBAJE.

    2. IGBO WILL DETERMINE WHO RULES LAGOS- IFEANYI UBAH

    3. LAGOS IS NO MAN'S LAND.- IFEANYI UBAH DURING TAN CAMPAIGN.

    4. IGBO DEVELOPED AND CONTROL LAGOS- JIMI AGBAJE DURING GEJ CAMPAIGN IN AKWA IBOM

    5. WE MUST PRODUCE THE NEXT DEPUTY GOVERNOR OF LAGOS- EZE NDIGBO

    MY QUESTIONS TO IGBOS,

    1. CAN OBI OF ONITHSA ACCEPT ALL THE ABOVE MENTIONED?

    2. CAN EMIR OF KANO ACCEPT ....?

    3. DO YOU HAVE ANY SINGLE TRIBE IN YOUR CABINET IN THE EAST?

    4. CAN ANY TRIBE CLAIM ONITHSA OR ABA TO BE NO MAN,S LAND?

    5. CAN OBI OF ONITHSA ACCEPT THE ELEVATION OF SARKIN HAUSA IN ONITHSA TO OBI STATUS?

My conclusion: We have been living together as brothers for years in peace. You must respect our tradition and institutions.Ifeanyi Ubah should stop jumping around Lagos beating drums of war.

    GOD BLESS YORUBA AND IGBO

  88. jeez the height of campaign of calumny in Nigeria,it shows the JK team don't even av an idea of what good governance is, " in Patrick Obiagbon voice it is audible to the deaf and visible to the blind' that fashola is undoubtedly one of the best Govenors in Nigeria, even when its a norm by most governor's to spend dier first term engaging in laudable projects to enable them come back for the 2nd term, and during their 2nd term they do little or nothing, other than to embezzle public funds, Gov fashola went against that order and performed creditably well in his both terms as Governor.
I won't deny the fact that his adminstration also h
ave it's short comings, but comon, its nt enof to discredit his numerous good works in the state.
As far as I am concerned there is nothing to change in Lagos, what we need is efficient continuity and solidification of the good works, even if we need one,not to a party like PDP.
besides, after several years of being in the opposition,we deserve to be united with the Federal govt, the govt whom we nurtured and brought to beign,it would be a big shame for us to be n the opposition.

Lets not let these greedy politicians turn us against one another for their own selfish reasons. PDP has been trying to get their claws on Lagos for years and this time they may actually succeed due to careless comments made by a senile geriatric. I don't want PDP to govern Lagos regardless of the Oba's comments. Lets vote wisely for continuity. And yes, I'm Ibo.

    1. Ambode is not winning. There are forces against him. A lot of my Yoruba friends are not voting him because they don't trust him. 1) as accountant general of Lagos he did not do well 2) most of the people in Lekki Epe expressway don't want the toll gate 3) APC chased Okada drivers from the main expressways ( they might want their pound of flesh) 3) A lot of people consider him Tinubu's stooge. 4) The traders at Tejuosho that were kicked out to erect the over prized modern shopping center that is there right now will surely take their pound of flesh. 5) The igbo traders that were parceled in trucks in 2013 and deported back to the East would also want their pound of flesh.
Anyways let's wait and see. Have you heard Fashola campaigning for Ambode recently?

    1. Why not you do your research... Any money spent on federal road done by state govt is being reimbursed by the Federal govt. So if fashola wanted, he would have done it and collected the amt spent back from the Federal Govt. It wasn't a big deal because that's how the Federal govt did some of their roads. But it would now seem like it is the state govt that did it.

My grouse is that Fashola, tinubu and their cohorts have basically mortgaged the future of Lagos awarding contracts at insanely ridiculous amounts. Now in life nothing is free that being said. Lagos and Lagosians are paying for it and will pay for it. I am sick and tired of ignorant people who say at least he is working. Take a queue from the Talents parable and to him who much has been given so much more is expected. Fashola and tinubu did and do have a chance to have done better. sadly, like most if not all politicians they chose to sell them selves for silver and cover up their deeds with a number of projects.
