AIT reporter detained on the orders of AIG Mbu has been released

AIT senior correspondent, Amaechi Anakwue (pictured above) who was detained yesterday on the orders of AIG Joseph Mbu for referring to him as 'controversial' on a TV programme, has been released on bail. AIT issued a statement on it this morning. Find below...
Detained AIT senior correspondent Amaechi Anakwue has been released on bail by AIG Zone 7, Joseph Mbu. He was however asked to return to the station on Friday. It would be recalled that the reporter was arrested by Joseph Mbu yesterday for describing him as 'controversial' on a television programme. In a swift reaction to his arrest, the management of Daar communication Plc, owners of AIT, had yesterday unequivocally demanded the unconditional and immediate release of its reporter from police custody.

  27. i am glad that he has been released on bail for calling Police Officer Mbu controversial Officer, but come to think of it, if Police Officer Mbu were to be President Goodluck, all in opposition calling him incompetence will be languishing in jail, i don't think we need such a man in the Police Force, all the Human right activist should take up this case to bring him under control because he is really out of control

  29. Impunity and lawlessness must stop permanently. Joseph Mbu is a tyrant. He doesn't get it that the days of autocratic and dictatorial leadership are numbered. He must be taught a big lesson. Amaechi Anakwue should sue Joseph Mbu and the Nigerian Police for punitive damaged for infringing his rights, for causing pain and suffering and for breaching his human rights. Joseph Mbu is extremely drunk with power. I don't care if his father is President Goodluck Jonathan, but Joseph Mbu must be suspended and sacked. He is a big disgrace to the Nigerian Police service and a disgrace to the nation. He has brought the police into serious disrepute. He acts like a thug, looks like a thug and is more than a thug. There is nothing professional about him. The whole country is fed up with him and his antiquated and barbaric behaviour. We want him immediately removed from office. His gross misconduct and abuse of office has gone on for far too long. Joseph Mbu must be sacked, NOW.
