  91. lovely advert nicely pitched, wonderful delivery. Now Glo will rush up one of their Man Friday,s cough cough sorry ambassadors to make a look alike with a terrible,concept/delivery for twice the cost. Pay more for rubbish.... SAME OLD MANTRA....JOKERS

    ReplyDelete
  92. We all shouldn't blame saka. Saka started doing ads with Etisalat when he was practically an unknown face. He became attached to d brand and his renumeration wasn't reviewed. His contract wasn't binding and there was no clause tying him down for more than one year.
Saka came up with this ad himself (Creative eh!). He brought it to GLO last week wednesday and since everything has to go thru our oga @ d top, a decision cldnt be reached and the time frame he gave us lapsed. He obviously took it to MTN and they loved d idea..... It's a case of working for d highest bidder.. Every business inclined person should understand that.

As for Saka, I say congrats.

    ReplyDelete
  94. You over-stated the DDB part, it's either you were paid by DDB to advertise for them or you really wanted to share a beautifully done advert. I was curious myself about the guys behind it. Pls as a journalist know when to draw the line - when to advertise or state things the way they are. You feel me.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Why is everyone saying Saka is a traitor or MTN is unfair in business.
DID THE SAME ETISALAT NOT TAKE PRAIZ FROM MTN??? Abeg, let's drop all that bullshit. This is business and MTN did a very good job, Kudos!!!
Although MTN is as shitty as hell...

    ReplyDelete
  96. A better offer has portted Saka over to MTN Kirikata,Etisalat eat your heart out.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Etisalat should not take this insult n demarketing from mtn. Saka's clothes were lemon green n later turned to yellow. On newspaper advert mtn used the words..for example if u want to port from ETISALAT to mtn...y mention etisalat at all. Sue mtn joor.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Really nice advert. I know I won't be doing any porting to MTN anytime soon but I enjoyed watching it. Good For saka. He shld milk as much cash as he can from anyone who wnts him to advertise for them.

    ReplyDelete
  102. If them like make them keep on snatching.....with their crappy network!!!

    ReplyDelete
  103. The use of Saka in this Ad. simply nailed it! How could Etisalat not know the value of the guy enough to make their contract with him water tight? With his move now to MTN as depicted in this ad, many of the kind of consumers he depicts in his many etisalat commercials will simply follow suit. Marketing Lesson: Always keep your eyes on the ball...and never underestimate brand icons with mass followership and appeal. MTN Well done! And Saka....Shine On!

  106. Etisalat hold your Solo welllllooooo Glo and Airtel fit port am tooo...Brutal advertising.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Very innovative! Saka the business man! he is a BRAND now! earning more than most people who are here calling him a traitor! MTN simply offered him better cash! It's all business!

I love this advert! if you don't live in Nigeria, it might not make sense to you!

    ReplyDelete
  108. That is bullshit, where is the innovation in what he has done? We all know that MTN loves showing themselves as the best but only succeed in doing what another network has succeeded in doing.

They were there all these while before Glo and never told us of per second billing, and when glo came on board, they copied.
Celtel and now Airtel was doing their Who wants to be a millionaire show before copycat MTN took over.

The reduced tariff was reduced by all other networks before MTN remembered to join, and even so, reluctantly.

What do they have to say about their unreliable network that haas many migrating to other networks?
If they like, let them use Goodluck Jonathan for their advert, they will not change my opinion about them simple.

They are common cheats with no intention of making communication cheaper for all and sundry even after declaring that the highest profit is from Nigeria.

Wise up people and stop praising only advert, advocate for affordable tariffs that they are offering to others outside our country that are not even making half the profit we are making for them.

  109. I work with an advertising agency and for real, this is just off. Men I know this is a great payback, etisalat did it to MTN once with the goat affair and osofia, now MTN has given the perfect comeback.

    ReplyDelete
  110. What is the use of porting when every Nigerian has a sim card for every network

    ReplyDelete
  111. Etisalat is the only network that brought out packages that rivalled MTN's. No wonder MTN is going after them. However, I should think that MTN wouldve worked on their high tariff, rigid and limited packages rather than a smoke screen, below the belt advert. But then competition breeds better products, so we the consumer should benefit from this war. Hehehe.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I paid N8,000 for MTN 5GB 24/7 data plan. (the most expensive of the rest of the networks) and for 20 days so far out of the 30days the network is so damn slow. My office is in Abuja (Utako) And this has been regular over the past few months. Honestly, I would do MTN to Etisalat at the earliest possible time. I might come back tho, when they improve.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Saka do am for the money. I go do the same if I be am. Even a dead man knows that MTN is more expensive to use than Etisalat. Saka probably still maintained his Etisalat line. :)

  116. saka don upgrade to mtn. Why beefing?

    ReplyDelete
  117. I’m very disappointed with Saka concerning the “Saka don Port” MTN advert. I believe there should be honour in labour and money is not everything. Why! People may ask? For the fact that Saka knew he was one of etisalat’s major brand ambassador and was known widely with the company, but He all of a sudden crossed over to MTN just like that! I don’t care how many people are congratulating him, this is called BETRAYAL!

But some may say his contract with etisalat was expired! Well I don’t work with etisalat to know the terms of the contract and whether it was expired, but what I believed that Saka would have done considering the relationship with etisalat was to first approach them (etisalat) when MTN made an offer and negotiate a new contract with them rather than this betrayal. The only way Saka can justify his actions is, if He had approached them for new contract and was refused, which I’ll also want to know if that what the case otherwise I don’t think it was nice what He did.

For people saying that MTN dished etisalat, I don’t quite agree, because MTN is in business, I think rather it is Saka that personally dished etisalat, because he is the main player in this game and it is nothing but a big betrayal! And yes I’m entitled to my own opinion!

    ReplyDelete
  118. They complain about MTN yet they still use it.
Why not drop it if you feel so bad about the network. Nigerians! Ride on joor MTN and Saka! Formidable team

    ReplyDelete
  119. Marketing at its best! Wao!

    ReplyDelete
  120. Looking at previous adverts with saka in them. there were always hints of Etisalat claiming to be better than MTN. hint: guy in yellow baseball cap who held saka's mouth shut, poster with yellow and green -i like money but i like better network pass etc.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Saka has ported himself! Etisalat still has a better appeal than some of these other networks!

    ReplyDelete
  122. Good concept, for those calling Saka a traitor shld find somthin better to do,u cnt jst visit a blog and make decisions witout knwin reasons, dis s business..wat if he showed them his idea and they are not intrested or willing to pay the price,he shldnt move on n remain thesame way,I wonder how some people reason.Dear Saka enjoy it wile it last O jare

    ReplyDelete
  123. Who would want to leave Etisalat for MTN? Just compare MTN fastlink (craplink!) and Etisalat Easy blaze?

    ReplyDelete
  124. PLEASE no one should call Saka a traitor. I know how these clients and agencies behave. Before Saka came to light he was turned down by the arrogant creative director of the agency who at the time handled etisalat, he was considered too RAZZZZ for the rather hip and swag etisalat brand. Weda na hip and swag consumers wan chop? anyway he went to centerspread fcb the then secon line agency and kenny the creative director cast him in that commercial that became a hit. Today the stupid creative director who called him razz is running around creating extremely weak rejoinder ads. Congrats to the guy joooor.Anyway MTN should go and do more in making the network better instead of doing 30 tv ads at a time.

  128. " I know personally, that Saka gave his very best to us on etisalat’s campaign. He was not signed on a contract. He was paid like any other 3-month model arrangement. He was not paid the proverbial gbem. For the brand then, it was more of a tactical usage. He didn’t fit their typical advertising look and feel. Remember etisalat is the hip, classy and swag brand. Like I said earlier, we must credit them to have approved of the Saka idea in the first place. Although it was beginning to look like this was a devise that etisalat could own, going by the results it generated, Saka was treated like any other cast. I am very sure Banky W got more handsomely paid than our beloved Saka. Far far. But where is Banky W today? He ported also. That is what you can refer to as celebrity usage. Saka was not treated as such."

  132. Why are they focusing on advert, and converting brand faces/voice. The real work is network quality.
