Melaye advocates presidential pardon for treasury looters

Senator Dino Melaye  has advised President Buhari to give presidential pardon and amnesty to treasury looters. Dino gave the advise in a statement he released yesterday Sunday September 2nd.
In the statement Dino proferred that looters should be given six months to return public funds or face the full wrath of the law.
"Though an unrepentant advocate for integrity and forthrightness especially from public office holders, l however sincerely want to recommend that Mr. President grant Presidential Amnesty/Pardon to all those who looted our treasury provided they return all proceeds of their loot to the government within six (6) months of the declaration of the Amnesty.
This, I believe will encourage the voluntary return of the looted funds, empower the government financially to immediately commence the implementation of projects and programmes that will stimulate the economy and raise the peoples' standard of living, and save the judiciary and other law enforcement agencies the agony of fruitlessly pursuing the looters in and out of the courtrooms. In the long run, this would be a win-win situation for both the government and people of Nigeria. At the expiration of the six months' 'Moratorium', all those who failed to comply would then be made to face the reality of aggressive and expeditious prosecution and eventual jail terms for convicts in accordance with the laws of the land", he said.
In the statement, Dino also recommended the removal of 'His Excellency and Distinguished' from the names of President, Vice president, Governors and Senators respectively.
" In this regard, I recommend that henceforth no President, Vice President, Governor, or Deputy Governor should answer the name 'His Excellency' until the material condition of ordinary Nigerians has also become 'Excellent'. No Senator should continue to answer 'Distinguished' until the the masses of the people begin to experience a distinguished existence and no Federal or state Legislator should wear the badge of 'Honourable Member' until the ordinary citizen is himself living a life that can be classified Honourable in every material particular"the statement read.

    1. They are making use of the funds but it is not enough. Where do you think they got money to buy more sophisticated weapons for the military to fight boko haram? Where do you think they got money to start off the railway lines? They have been using the little money judiciously but it is not enough. Receive sense! Ewu

  7. What a stupid advice. Is this move going to encourage the bid to stop looting and corruption? In other countries, harsh policies and punishments are implemented on falters especially in situations involving government officials and corruption. What a very foolish thing to think of even, these are one of the reasons, Nigeria will never be great.

  20. I concur, but with the following conditions:
    1. A special judicial commission be setup to handle the Dis-StolenCashment.
    2. Whoever returns the money within the 6 months duration must be first convicted.
    3. Pardon can only come after conviction to ensure they don't go back into public office too soon (because stealing is an evil spirit).
    4. Special court should be setup to handle cases of those who do not show up within the Dis-StolenCashment period. This court will have special powers to prosecute without delays.
    5. Those who show up but do not fully disclose their stolen wealth, will be likened and treated like those who did not show up at all.

Those that are against Deno's idea must realise that our country got to a point where people no longer know the difference between right and wrong. Corruption has become our way of life. Now that we're being re-enlightened, we have to create room for forgiveness, Otherwise, this corruption fight will not end, and Buhari & Osibanjo alone cannot do it.

If this Dis-StolenCashment is done, you see that even current ministers will go for confession.

  21. Imagine... Very senseless somebody.. Does he know what their looting has done to Nigerians in general? They should be handed over to common Nigerians for discipline

  22. Is Dino a PDP member or APC? I dont trust him

  23. When you let them go free now, future looters will continue to loot and refer to these ones that Buhari set free. It will create room for more looting and when you catch them, they will say what of those ones that were given presidential pardon? PDP is already referring to past leaders that stole and accusing Buhari of being selective in his fight against corruption. If you let these ones go now, looters will leverage on it and take advantage of it. I dont agree with Dino if you ask me. The bible says; Shall we continue to live in sin so that race may abide? God forbid! Let's thread sofly and be careful of our decisions now so that it doesnt come back to hunt us in future

  25. Life is an irony. A petty thief will steal ordinary mobile phone handset in market and the thief will be given jungle justice before they hand him over to the police. Sometimes, they will even put tyre around his neck and pour fuel on him and burn him to ashes even before the police arrives the scene but our political leaders stole billions of money and you are asking that they should be set free. I weep for Nigeria!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I disagree. They should all be persecuted. It will serve as a deterrent to others. God will give Nigeria money even if they refuse to return the stolen money. They must face the rule of law and be jailed if necessary. Rubbish!

  27. I am very sure Dino is planning to loot too that's why he is advocating for the corrupt fools to be set free. Dino should be probed

    ReplyDelete
  28. The looters are the reason why Nigeria is broke today and should not be pardoned. Nonsense!

  31. Dino has been a bastard. If you can't grant amnesty to a thief on the street, why grant that to a politician who stole millions of naira from the treasury! These and more are the senseless contributions APC legislatures Fraudsters make! #FuckAPC!

  32. What nonsense presidential pardon? Buhari can as well grant all the armed robbers in jail presidential pardon. If Buhari set them free, then Buhari is going against the rule of law. Let the rule of law take its course. Afterall, Ibori is in jail in London for money laundry. Why didnt the British government grant Ibori prime minister pardon? You want to make the world believe that anything goes in Nigeria. Arant nonsense!

  34. I read on this same blog where they cut off somebody's hand for stealing ordinary television in Akwa Ibom and Dino is saying they should pardon people that stole billions that put our economy in recession. Rubbish

  35. Buhari has to obey the rule of law. He cannot pardon anybody. Sorry

    ReplyDelete
  36. Buhari cannot breach the law. He must abide by the law. Anybody found guilty of looting must be prosecuted. Period!

  37. This Dino has this dirty black complextion that i dont understand

  38. Those who live by the sword, die by the sword. They should face the law. Leave Buhari out of it

  39. Hmmm, Dino, always controversial, before he said d corruption fight is a political witch-hunt and persecution, now he is advocating presidential amnesty for treasury looters, I believe something incriminating Dino is hiding is about to be exposed, but I thank God they are beginning to realise dat dis govt has d will power and d political will to deal with treasury looters. Indeed d domonance of evil over good is very temporal. PMB go ahead, sustain d fight against d looters

  41. I hate this part "all those who failed to comply would then be made to face the reality of aggressive and expeditious prosecution and eventual jail terms for convicts in accordance with the LAWS OF THE LAND"

The same laws people like you have already manipulated and turn to your favor.....

  42. Hahaha! Dino Bravo! This your suggestion is like 'gold dust'.Mr. President, at the end of your term you will discover that you dint do anything good for the masses. It will be like a mirage to you.

  45. Dino himself is a thief, a big time future looter in disguise!

  46. This should be extended to all prisoners and all that will be stealing.... STEAL 1 Million and pay 200 Thousand... MR DINO, HOW DID YOU BECOME A SENATOR. YOU ARE SO EMPTY. This is what Nigeria gets when they elect SUG touts and thieves to lead a nation.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I thought Din had gone totally mad this time before I read the whole thing but to be honest, Dino is right this time.

These thieves are so powerful they will not give justice a chance unless they can be assured they will not be harmed. Thus a need for compromise; let them return all they have stolen and tender public apologies like it was done in South Africa after apartheid and like someone mentioned, those who fail to turn up before deadline or those who declared false amount and those who continue to steal after announcement of this good will, should be shot on sight by anyone on the street. Yes jungle justice. Nigerians your destiny is in your hands. Keep celebrating these thieves and your future generation will suffer the consequences.

  48. well, i consider Dino request as a progressive way forward but Nigeria Politicians, some prefer dying than return those funds.
