A statement released by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency regarding the multiple vehicle accident that occurred at the Oworonshoki end of the 3rd mainland bridge Sunday, September 11th:
The Agency received an alert via Emergency number of an accident at third mainland bridge inwards Iyana Oworo on 11th of September 2016. This prompted immediate activation of the Agency's ERT to the scene of the incident .
Preminary Investigation carried out by the ERT at the scene of the incident revealed that a Commercial bus(FST-668XR) somersault at top speed and landed on a BMW car(KRD-294CN).
There was no loss of life recorded however ten casualties were recorded. The injured victims were treated while some were rushed to the trauma centre by LASAMBUS.
The Agency's ERT, LASAMBUS, LASTMA, Nigeria Police Force and Lagos State Fire Service were the responder present at the scene of the incident for Traffic control, Crowd control, Recovery operation. The vehicles have been cleared off the road for vehicular movement.
The LASEMA General Manager Mr. Michael Akindele advised motorist to avoid over speeding
