Touching story that needs to be told

A LIB reader sent this in, this incident took place yesterday. Read the rest after the cut...

A friend shared this story yesterday morning.. His name is Dumebi!!!!
"At 7.20am this morning, as I approached Berger bridge from Wuse 2, a woman, who was crossing the road with her son (mid 20s) & daughter (late 20s), was knocked down. The son was hit too, but injury wasn't much. The taxi that hit this woman was directly in front of me. The impact lifted her as high as 9ft! Before she landed on the windscreen & shattered it before falling off to the side on the ground.
I pulled over.
People gathered. The daughter was weeping helplessly. The boy had gotten up & was wailing too. People around mostly cab guys all had their car keys but were mostly WATCHING!
The daughter kept screaming "Help! Help! Abeg make una help me! Hospital! Hospital! Abeg make una help me".
I approached the scene, observed in utter disappointment. Immediately I mobilized the spectators... "lift her into my car immediately! Let's GO!"
They lifted the woman into the car. Daughter & Son joined in. I activated my hazard lights. And fired the car's turbo engine. "Mama! Mama! Mama!" both kids kept screaming. "is she breathing?" I kept asking. After a while, the daughter responded "Yes she's breathing"... After a while... The woman mumbled few words.
Garki hospital. That's where I took them. The doctor & nurses swung into action. After narrating the incident..."Whats your name?" doctor asked..."Hannatu" she responded in so much pain. Unbearable pain. Bones were broken. I guess. Internal bleeding? I'm certain.
Hasn't been long I left the hospital.
I hope Hannatu survives what I witnessed this morning. #BraveHeart #GodTakeControl'

  20. Thank u for swinging into action. May God bless u. The impact of a vehicle in motion hitting a human cannot be underestimated.

I witnessed one on Gbagada expressway by Mobil in 2010 and i always tell people never to use the expressway. Accident victim died instantly with his blood splattered across the driver.

    It was terrible.

    May Hanatu live IJN.
    May she survive this accident

  29. That's the most terrible thing with Nigeria and Nigerians, there's always non stop punctuation with Jesus, God, Allah, Muhammed. Churches and Mosques everywhere, but the hearts of the entire population are completely wicked, vicious and uncaring to one another.

No where is this more exemplified than people hurting and maiming children of others who live with them, whereas they care for their own kids. No one cares of or makes any attempt to obey the Bible or Koran commandments, we just pray and pray. Too bad!

  44. Hello Everyone, Dumebi here.

Thank y'all so much for your kind words & prayers.

Hannatu is alive and being treated at a hospital in Suleja, Niger State. Dr Ali @GarkiHospital stabilized her enough for the trip. She's under close observation with family & friends in their community.

May God bless you all for your prayers.

Humanity is our common identity. Be kind to one another.

    Bless.

  45. But brother ,as much as I admire your brave heart,do you know it is very dangerous to lift up an accident victim without the help of the paramedics or an experienced medical personnel ? I know u guys will say am In naija but we have nema, cos u might lift her in such a way that you will complicate her issues sometimes they can even die just from how they were being carried to the hospital .nutshell ,kindly call nema when u see an accident victim,I have seen them respond swiftly a couple of times .am glad for your actions and really hope you saved mamas life.
