Uche Jombo explains the Gender Equality bill

Uche Jombo gave her 2 cents on the recent Gender equality bill on a post she made on her IG page today. Read what she wrote after the cut...

Let's be clear #ujlovers. Gender roles/ responsibilities and gender equality are different things, the fact that some people think / believe there are the same is why #genderequalitybill didn't go through #Nigeriansenate.

With or without the bill there are women (which i am one of) that will succeed regardless but the equity fight is NOT about this group. Its about that uneducated woman in her village thinking her life is over because she has 'only' girls...its about that little girl understanding 'working twice as hard because she's a girl' ...is a goal not her only option ... i should know i am an Abiriba girl, was told  thousand things i can't DO because i am a girl...(.πŸ˜† look where we are NOW empowering men and women)
Learn more about gender equity guidelines for free online.πŸ’– FYI let's not mistake gender roles for gender equality. I believe she was clearly talking about roles / responsibilities as a woman hence my repost about learning the right meaning of Gender equality.

    2. Excuse me what does she know? If you can read you will know this her write up is personal.i know an Abiriba girl that her father had to marry 3women in search of a son even tho he kept having girls so i dont know uche jumbo's personal story but i get what she is saying, if you are not the type of men that will do that her post is not for you. Its about a child being a child not valuing a boy child over a girl child.

    1. Gender roles ??? What a joke. I blame our lawmakers for arguing against the bill on the grounds of roles and responsibilities. Gender equality isn't about roles. I was never and has never been about roles.
The right to abortions and contraceptions for example is a major part of this law and no one seems to have noticed. Gender equality is NOT possible without abortion. My question is: Is abortion right or wrong ?
The Bill is alien to our culture. Let's stop being hypocritical. We say NO to gayism, lesbianism and related vises on the grounds of religion and culture. Yet we see nothing wrong with #GenderEquality.
      Peace I wish unto you.

  7. Look closely U will discover that most of the women championing this gender equality stuff are single, divorced or women whose marriage is disfunctional due to their headiness. Most of them are not marriagable.

  10. Well...

Just as I hav stated dat men and women r equal irrespective of cultural or ethnicity background mostly b4 d Lord we r all equal.

So no one has d audacity to say otherwise.

  11. It's now a self fight, not to be fought with arms but with wisdom... As per gender responsibilities, it starts from the home. Don't limit your girl child to certain roles, let the boy child learn how to cook even ordinary noodles, it's not limited to girls alone. A lot needs to be done and it starts from the home!

  12. All I know is that men and women can never have an equal right but that does not mean women should be treated badly, even in bible GOD created man before woman and he said women should respect their husband and husband should love their wife,he said woman should love their men the way they love GOD,same with men.
So what are we talking about,
Nigeria we have so many better things to look into other than this for now,at list Job should be created and money should generate so that things will be equal in a home,if man bring and woman brings things will be better, thanks.

  23. She kind of understand it. Equality should not be interpreted literally by women folk or you jump into trouble by abusing female roles in marriage. To the men out there, LEARN HOW AND EARN BIG to avoid becoming a victim of those females with primitive understanding of gender equality.

    2. That is the problem- religion, it has nothing to do with gender equality not everyone in the world believe women were created from a man's rib. The believe is that we are all humans and therefore be treated the same.

  29. Exactly gender equality is quite different from gender roles, one is based on man made laws, the other has to do with natural laws(God)

  32. No matter the kind of law, men are too political to allow women have equal opportunity with them in the affairs of the world and life. But the fact is that women themselves give up on issues and responsibilities thereby enforcing the gender imbalance the more. Not because of illiteracy or anything but by nature. I'm a woman and men really pass us.

  33. Male violence against women is, in itself, an expression of gender inequality. In a society where women have been historically valued less than men and expected to serve men’s needs, physical, psychological or emotional abuse, rape, sexual assault and exploitation, sexual harassment and trafficking of women and girls is what gender inequality looks like. It is male domination made visible.Violence against women creates fear and helps keep women who experience violence, and women who fear it might happen to them, under control. Violence against some women sends a message to all women that they are in danger and that they are not valued in their own communities.
When women are unequal and undervalued, men learn that they have a “right” to use any means, including violence, to keep women under control.

  34. I never gave a shit about an actress till today. This is what i have to explain to some people a while ago. From uche 's page comments you can understand why Nigeria is like how it is when people don't know the fear of that wife with 3daughters that her husband will leave and had died trying to have a male child through a dangerous 4th pregnancy that might have been another girl. Uche jombo you are not only a great actress and producer i love you for bringing this topic to light you have gained a fan today
