Melissa Rivers settles for millions in lawsuit against doctors blamed for her mother Joan's death

Comedienne & TV Host, John Rivers passed away after complications came up during a routine throat surgery at the Yorkville Endoscopy, New York. Apparently the doctor performing the surgery was not authorized to be in the surgery room and federal investigation found that the clinic made several errors while handling Joan.
Her daughter, Melissa Rivers sued the clinic after Joan slipped into unconsciousness, never woke up and died a week later at the age of 81. TMZ is reporting that the settlement came very quickly by legal standards and runs into millions of dollars - an eight-figure settlement that wasn't mentioned.

Melissa is happy that those culpable for her mother's death have accepted responsibility for their actions quickly and without equivocation. She hopes the lawsuit and settlement will force an elevation of standards in outpatient surgery clinics.
