Sending a Nigerian to space in 2030 is going to be a waste of scarce resources- Shehu Sani

According to Senator Shehu Sani who represents Kaduna Central in the senate, sending a Nigerian to space in 2030 will be a total waste of money. His position is against that of the Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu, who in March, stated that Nigeria will launch its first Astronaut into space on or before 2030.

  8. I totally agree with the senator. Our satellites are wasting away in space, when they should be earning us billions of dollars. We don't have a made-in-Nigeria car we can boast of. Even more basic, we haven't mastered the art and science of maintenance of our roads, hospitals, energy supply chains, etc. We haven't eradicated polio. We don't have functional registries for the diseases that plague us, eg, cancer, malaria.
These are all very relevant and attainable scientific goals for us, yet we are nowhere near to them.
I don't care that a Nigerian goes to space in 2030, when he hasn't mastered the immediate space he was gifted here on Terra Firma.

  12. Aboki...idiot! I'm sure he'd prefer sharing the money than anything to progress the Nigerian state. That's the caliber of buffoons we have in the National Assembly & tomorrow we wonder why Nigeria is continually playing catch up to everything

  13. Waste of the money that they are planning to steal for themselves right? With the way they talk, you would think they have the interest of Nigerians at heart, but they are only looking for ways to save for their generation yet unborn.

    1. Do you going to Space when there is no food and fuel? Think before you write. No insult, please. It does not mean that US, UK and other well managed countries are in Space therefore Nigeria must be there. Give us food, fuel and good infrastructures first.

  15. Talk is cheap. This is a govt of misplaced priorities. They should at least start with providing unfettered power supply for the masses before talking about exploring Uranus abi na Jupiter.
