Democratic Republic of Congo president, Joseph Kabila today Tuesday, February 9, presented the country's African Nations Championship (CHAN) winners with a fleet of high-end Toyota Prado.

Kabila handed over the keys to the cars to DR Congo captain Joel Kimwaki and coach Florent Ibenge at a ceremony in Kinshasa witnessed by an AFP journalist.
Kimwali led his team to a one-sided 3-0 defeat of Mali in Sunday's final in Kigali, Rwanda.

The players and officials were decorated with Sporting Merit medals at a reception held at the presidential palace.

"May this trophy serve to forge peace and stability in our country," Kabila said.

DR Congo became the first country to win the CHAN, which is reserved for players who play in the national leagues, twice after success in the inaugural competition in 2009.

  7. Oh my poor Congo president thanks for that.
Nigeria terrorist president will rather add it to his budget than doing this great thing to the boys that makes nigeria proud outside.
Buhari should resign and handed it over to fayose.

  11. The meagre and depleted resources of the Democratic Republic Of Congo could have been utilised for the betterment of the Congolese people than expedited procuring vehicles for a select few. Surely, this could have been expended on infrastructural development projects for the benefit of the majority of the citizens.

  33. This will definitely be a motivation for the boys. If it was in Nigeria, by now players will be fighting over allowances, Coach will be insulting his critics and even when they win the Government will redeem pledge after 30 years. God save us!
