National Assembly members postpone Budget passing indefinitely

Members of the National Assembly have suspended the passage of the 2016 budget indefinitely following the discrepancies in figures that has trailed the budget. NASS members had fixed February 25th as the date for the passage of the budget but have shelved it.

This new development was made known‎ at a joint press conference chaired by Sen. Danjuma Goje, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation and Abdulmumin Jibrin, Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation in Abuja today February 9th.
“We need sufficient time to pass a comprehensive budget that is implementable and also acceptable,” Jibrin said.

  6. Kudos to NASS for this decision, the Executive arm of the govt should even retrieve the said budget and tender a more implementable one not this one that there are many hidden allocations.

  16. So the country will be operating with a blank cheque till they decide to give us numbers that make sense. So much for the war against corruption...this is just more sophisticated way of creating a smokescreen for more corruption.

  29. This country is in DEEP SHIT. How did we get to this state of incompetence at executive level? Does it mean that they don't know how to draft a comprehensive budget for the country anymore? Or are we now practicing a trial and error government? Oh, let's just give them a budget, add some drama to it and see how the people reacts.
It's high time the government wake up to reality. The economy is dying very fast. My prayer is that we will not start to act when it is too late.

  39. All this are all camouflage, budget or no budget, do the president and his crews have a vision for Nigeria. Without a focus and vision that needs to be actualize by serious minded people, the budget has no meaning and would be like the other budgets where some pocket the said money when allocated to them.
