Vitafoam celebrates 'The First Baby of the Year 2016'

The Lagos Island maternity hospital went agog with activities today, 1st January, 2016 as Vitafoam Nig. Plc in conjunction with the Lagos state government celebrated the birth of the first baby of the year, 2016. Every year, just as the countdown into the New Year begins, so does the race to deliver the first baby of the year is being anticipated by expectant mothers.

The wife of the Lagos state government, Mrs BolanleAmbode was present to felicitate with the parents of the ‘first baby’ in Lagos state. The management of Vitafoam Nigeria Plc also congratulated Mrs OkunowoOluwakemion her safe delivery and presented “Early days” range of Vitafoam products to the new mother and baby. This was received with so much joy and appreciation by mother of the new born, MrsOkunowo.

Maternal and Child health is of major concern to us in Vitafoam, as we believe that the future of any country lies in its ability to provide safe delivery to every mother, that is why as part of our culture in Vitafoam we celebrate the arrival of the first baby of the year, as our first Corporate Social Responsibility for the year according to the Vitafoam Group Managing Director, TaiwoAdeniyi.

He also used the  occasion to present two hundred and fifty units of breastfeeding cover to support the office of the first Lady as a gift to all “first baby born in Lagos state hospitals today January 1st 2016. As a solution oriented organisation, Vitafoam Nigeria Plc, support the World Breastfeeding course of “making breastfeeding work” by providing breastfeeding covers that ensure mothers’ breastfeed their babies in comfort wherever they are: public or private.

Wife of the Lagos State Governor, Mrs. BolanleAmbodehas urged health care providers in Nigeria to work as a team to improve and strengthen the health sector. Mrs. Ambodewho stated this during her goodwill visit to Island Maternity Hospital in Lagos to welcome the First Baby of the year noted that cooperation among health workers in the hospital, as a work place, would enhance productivity and also guarantee patients’ satisfaction.

While commending the Lagos State health family for their commitment towards quality health care delivery in the state during the past years, she urged health workers not to rest on their oars, adding that there will always be room for improvement.

Mrs Ambode, congratulating the parents of the first baby of the year, noted that parents had a role to play for babies to actualize their potentials in life stressing that quality parental care would make children grow to become healthy and successful citizens.

She urged parents, especially mothers, to be committed to laying good foundation for their children in the first five years of their lives, by making sure all necessary vaccinations were taken.
