Afenifere condemns Falae's kidnap, calls for ban on activities of Fulani herdsmen in Yoruba land

Following the kidnap of former presidential candidate Olu Falae by suspected fulani herdsmen in Ondo state last week Monday, leaders of Pan Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, have called for a ban to be placed on the activities of Fulani herdsmen in Yoruba land.

The group also condemned the kidnapping of the 77 year old elder statesman. They made their position known after an emergency meeting in Akure, Ondo state yesterday September 28th. Speaking through its Spokesman, Yinka Odumakin, the group said;

"We believe now that after what has happened to chief Falae, people would not tolerate such thing in any part of Yoruba land . So while we await the arrest of the criminals, the cattle rearing should be stop in Yoruba land. Yoruba people go to any part of the country to trade,no history or record of such anywhere that the Yorubas destroy the business of their host. What we cannot do to others, nobody should do it to us. We describe this as scandalous and chilling that the harrowing experience of the 77 year old man in the hands of vandals,miscreants. The Meeting did not considers it as a mere coincidence that chief Olu Falae for two to three years has been having running battles with the Fulani herdsmen on the very farm before he was abducted. Last of such was about two months earlier when they enter his farmland and destroyed it and chief Falae pursue the matter with the police and grudgingly accepted half of what the police said they should pay as compensation. The fulani elements coming to abduct him two months latter, is presumably a vengeance mission for justice that he pursued against the invasion of his farm and the destruction of his hand work. The meeting recalled that for years, farmers in Yoruba land has been expressing what chief Falae was going through in the hands of this nomadic cattle rearers. You will recalled that in year 2000 in Oke Ogun area of Oyo state, the fulani herdsmen and farmers had a major clash which led to a strong delegation from Arewa consultative forum to storm the office of the office of the then Governor Lam Adesina in a rowdy and angry manner on behalf of fulani . The meeting also noted that the 2014 national conference in which chief Falae led the Yoruba delegation ,extensively discuss this matter of nomadic cattle rearing and the conference resolved the it should be stopped and instead have ranches for cattle business. We condemned the abduction of Chief olu Falae and his gruesome experience as shameful, insensitive and a violent violation of Yoruba culture, values and space".

    2. 100 percent in agreement, @ Osinanl . Like Bob Marley sang, you can fool the people sometimes but you can't fool the people all the time. The Yoruba race has been fooled a Million times by this same Hausa/Fulani tribe. This is just the beginning, yorubas would cry and instead of water coming out from their eyes, it would be fire.

      Tell me what GEJ did for SW Naija? Unlike you guys we don't cry foul and act victimized. We take whatever action is available to us. So I suggest you eat your losses and regroup. No one was asking for your support or input on this issue. Several seat man

  17. Kidnapping threat to national security,new approach for cattle raring should be employed since the issue was treated in the past national conference the APC as a party is likely not going to accept the findings in that dossier

  18. Afenifere, why are you afraid to mention the name of the leader of the Arewa delegation?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. They were not being afraid. Afenifere is non partisan. It has members of PDP and APC. They wouldn't want to mention Buhari's name so it doesn't look as if it's political vendetta. But Buhari and his cattle rearers will get the message.

      Na just one "MajorBlow" go wipe Fulani from Nigeria & the earth in general...

    3. @Ibjne, did u say no tribe has ever defeated them? Eya. What happened to queen Amina? What stopped the movement of fulani jihadists to the South? Fulani have only succeeded in maltreating the little ethnic nationalities of the North Central. The only major tribe the fulani have defeated and subdued is the Hausa tribe. And it was done with guile, using religion. Fulanis are exaggerated. Make them go Anambra state go mess up make we see.

  24. Shame..!Shame..!!and Shame..!!! to Yoruba Leaders, especially, leaders from Ogun State and Oyo/ Osun state who were from independent close to the corridors of power. This is the result of what you get when you sold your people to Fulanis. The unfortunate thing was that, from independent till to date, they are still selling us to these northerners. Blaming Northerners or Easterners for our foes was bitten about the bush. We are just chasing shadows. If Yoruba are really serious to liberate themselves from this enslavement,the only enemies within us that we needed to confront and fight within us are our selfish,arrogant, wicked and self pride idiot who paraded and always paraded themselves as our leaders and use their position and influence to sell us to Northerners including the westerners. Whoever think we a united country was saying that because they are benefiting from this British arrangement. We are not one country and we will never be one.This is the truth we need to realize and embrace and work on. All these happening was just postponing the evil days.The only people that are stopping our breakaway are Yoruba leaders because of what they are benefiting from the system. Until our these so call Yoruba leaders come back to their senses speak in one voice, this has just started and it will continuing to happened. IBO people has always remains standby to pull out anytime but the fair of we Yoruba has been their problems. The earlier we identify our Yoruba leaders as our enemies within and hold them responsible the better.

  28. Check Nigeria history till to date, Yoruba leaders are the problem of this fake country. Blaming Northerners or IBO was being coward in facing the truth. I am a Yoruba man, but I am so ashamed of what our leader are doing to our future especially leader from Ogun/ Oyo State. They always connive with Northerner to sell their and sabotage their effort.
