Why Buhari added his son Yusuf to the 33 man delegate to the US

Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Femi Adesina, explained why President Buhari took his son, Yusuf Buhari, on his recent official trip to the United States.
“There is absolutely nothing wrong with the president traveling with one of his sons. It is an acceptable and standard practice. He could go with up to four members of his family. Don’t forget that when former President Bill Clinton visited Nigeria while he was in office, he came with his daughter, Chelsea.
President Barak Obama travels with his children and so the President of Nigeria can travel out with three or four of his children. Late President Umaru Yar’Adua used to travel with two of his sons and one of his grandchildren." Adesina said

  23. I voted Buhari because i believe and hope his integrity is a virtue. Reflecting your excuse of traveling with your son on an official trip on the basis of what has happened with America presidents is not tenable. Please, if this is your justification always make sure you perform like they do.

African leaders will always have a dumb excuse for every rubbish they do believing that every other person is as dumb as they are. If Buhari's plan is to work towards his son succeeding him in office then a surprise awaits them.

Let him tell us point blank, they are grooming him to step into that position or politics. As we all know that this politics is a family affair in Nigeria and it's has been recycled among same set of people.

But the other side; great opportunity for him to meet the president of America. But i tell you , build your hopes in meeting Jesus. You life won't remain the same.

  50. Nigerians and frivolities! How does this help with the devaluation of the naira or Boko Haram attacks? After the show of shame exhibited by almost 90% of the people who commented about Buhari's intent to probe only the last administration, an administration that directly handed over to him by the way, I vowed NEVER to feel sorry for Nigerians anymore! How can any normal human being fault that action? Why rebel against a process that will make your leaders accountable for any inaction or running your economy to the drain? GEJ had the opportunity to probe the administration who handed over to him but didn't! How is that Buhari's fault? You actually want Buhari to turn a blind eye over all the misdeeds staring him at the face? When did people start cursing good deeds? Why are you worried over the probe? Are you GEJ? If he is the saint and hero you all claim, then he has nothing to worry about. You all deserve all you are going through and until you change your negativity, you will not reap any good from this administration. I beseech you all to leave Buhari alone to run the country as he deem fits, he is the president not by your will but by God's grace! If you have a problem with that go cry to your various gods or better still, relocate!

    2. Hi Brenda,

If you really believe solving Nigeria's issues can be helped by looking just at Jonathan's government, you are dead wrong. Powerful forces like IBB and Obasanjo who are well known crooks still roam the country and make noise all over. Yes I support probing Jonathan's government but I also support probing those prior to his. That is what happens in any civilised society. Here in the Uk , the current government has begun investigating child sex abuse cases carried out in the 60-90's by top politicians who ran a peodophile ring. Your reason does not stand and is narrow minded. You seem to insinuate that those who are against probing Jonathan's government want Jonathan to get away freely? Probe Jonathan, probe IBB on missing funds from the 1st gulf war windfall, and lock them all up if found guilty.

    7. Never too late to probe as long as those who he's probing are still controlling our resources. Having controlling shares in the companies they illegally acquired in their tenure. So how can't he probe them? A probe Is a search and can be done even 100 years later. They're murder cases that have been solved 40 years later. Even George Bush senior can still be called for a probe. Most crimes don't have expiry date especially if it is still being perpetuated.

As for taking his son along, it's not bad if it is a casual visit. But he was named in the 33 man delegate and will have a stake in whatever vote of thanks/travelling they will get. Now, remind me again why he should be named? Or is it a 32 man delegate with one casual visitor? Did Obama travel with his girls and the girls got paid for travelling?
