Former First Lady, Patience Jonathan reportedly barred from VIP lounge of PH Airport

Tribune is reporting that former First Lady Patience Jonathan was stopped from using the VIP lounge of the Port Harcourt International Airport, recently. Mrs Jonathan, who was in Port Harcourt for the burial of her late Chief Security Officer (CSO), Tamuno Jacob Igbomie, who was killed by unknown gunmen, was said to have been denied access to the VIP lounge, commonly used by dignitaries.

Staff members at the airport were said to have denied her access to the lounge on 'orders from above'

"Last Friday, July 17, the former first lady arrived Port Harcourt International Airport and made for the VIP lounge as had been the norm. However, she was practically locked out and prevented from accessing the lounge.
"All efforts by the former president’s wife and the few people by her to pacify the security agents at the airport to allow the protocol were rebuffed, as they stood their ground claiming that they had ‘orders from above,’” a source who witnessed the scene said.

  57. Can you see why people kill themselves to stay in power in Africa and Nigeria in particular. How can they deny a former first lady access to a VIP lounge. In developed countries you use the VIP in airports as far as you can afford to dine there. In some cases you pay. APC is a party of victimisation. I know the US is watching and taking note of activities of this government and very soon all the International "good will" they have will fizzle away into thin air.

  78. Which of the VIP are you talking about. Is it the regular VIP or the one used by the President. If it is the latter, she no longer has right to such facility. Lets learn to face the fact.

  81. I won't say I am surprised at Bhuhari and his APC govt because Bhuhari's wicked antecedents is well known and documented between 1983-1985!.... But what I'm surprised is that he could descend so low to treat someone badly whom he fraudulently cheated out of power, but yet handed power to him without rancour! What is there in the VIP lounge that they have to bar Patience from using it?! I am very much aware that under Goodluck administration, past presidents (including Bhuhari) and their wives were accorded their due respect!!!

Gej's regime was meant to fix Nigeria and not to further plunge it into the dungeon of destruction.

Power has changed hand already, you guys had the opportunity of leading but your son messed, it just shows that even if Nigeria splits today you guys still don't have the maturity of leading yourselves judiciously #truthisbitter, so allow PMB to do his bit for the country, you guys should accept defeat as your hero wisely did.

  97. My take is like everything Nigeria, some people are over-zealous when it comes to official work. They cry more than the bereaved. I do not want to believe that the former first lady was barred from the VIP lounge.....this is not practicable. But if it is true, then it is also not acceptable from whosoever that gave the instruction because I choose not to call it 'order'.... and somebody should apologize to her.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Thats not fair at all.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Please Linda let people not use your blog to incite war. And please verify before you post rubbish. She was not denied from using the VIP lounge but the Presidential wing which is not out of place. VIP lounge that if a yeye person buys business class and can pay one useless sum of money can stay in.

    ReplyDelete
  100. They gave orders too and now same is being done to them
