DSS detains former president Jonathan's Chief Security Officer

There are reports that the DSS has detained the Chief Security Officer to former President Jonathan, Gordon Obua. According to a report by Punch, Obua was arrested and detained on Thursday July 16 as part of measures by the new administration to probe officials who worked under GEJ’s. The order for his arrest was given by President Buhari.

The reason for the detention of the former CSO is not immediately known but a source told Punch that investigators maybe trying to gather info on key officials in Jonathan’s government from Obua

“The arrest and detention of the former CSO is an indication that every former minister or senior official under Jonathan’s government are not exempted from probe except those that have no criminal suspicion or record of wrong doing in office,” a source explained.
More officials who served under GEJ are expected to be arrested and detained in the coming weeks as president Buhari has reported mandated DSS to recover  all looted funds by previous government.

If its to recover stolen funds,I support this.We can not continue to say it doesn't matter or call it witch hunt.its very simple,if nothing is found on you or traced to you, you'll walk.
My mother did after a thorough investigation.A house which they weren't able to explain was confiscated and sold to recover the money.I told her then and I still stand by it,we can't continue this way if we Want a Nigeria.I want to come back home.

Baba Go slow has started witch hunting his opposition all in the name of recovering stolen funds, yet his APC goons that stole their state funds to sponsor his campaign are moving freely. The likes of Amaechi, Timipriye Silver and their cohorts are enjoying presidential shield for stealing. Somebody better tell Buhari to be careful else he will not complete his tenure as president. Stupid dull OLD FOOLb

so much looting occurred in GEJs government.. if that's the main motive for the arrests then it's a welcome development so far there's reasonable outcomes.

Amy said...

Witch-hunting at its peak. Truly the President is not a man of his words. No tangible work has been done other than to hunt people down. Boom haram is there but they are giving them full authority reign supreme. Nonsense. The next thing now, they will come out and deny this.

Unknown said...

Okay now, watching and waiting. Way to go PMB.

All these useless arrests is getting tiresome. How does this reduce the dollar price? How does it improve the security situation in the country? Does this repair the roads?

All the earlier recouped funds, where did they all go to....

PMB pls we need better governing strategies... all this gra gra is too fickle.

I'll only take ur fight against corruption when I see all ur former PDP supporters who have decamped to APC being probed. E.g Tinubu and Amaechi.. Start from there abeg

Abeg Buhari shld park one corner u had better probe ur APC crooks who used stolen funds to finance ur politcal career, tribalistic and partial old goat

Can the president channel this energy on stoping BH and bringing back our girls???

Someone might come out as a saint but might be the greatest thief in disguise. Nigeria is the most important. God bless Nigeria

SIMPLYCOCK said...

Sure!

Buhari is capable of that...

It is good for the country, though, in so far as the rule of law is not sacrificed on the alter of over-zealousness...

And also in so far as the mallam does extend his probe to Amaechi, Tinubu, Obasanjo, etc...

Otherwise, a hint of selective justice may spell doom for Nigeria...

In any case I am not even a believer in Nigeria...

Linda dd you read this: "After Buhari overthrew Shagari in 1983, he put Shagari under house arrest in the cozy, expensive environment of Ikoyi. Meanwhile, Alex Ekwueme who was Vice President, was kept in Kirikiri prisons. This might have been purely coincidental but not a few thought and still think it had to do with where they come from. In 2015, the ex-NSA was put under house arrest in the cozy, expensive environment of Asokoro for alleged ‘treason’ related issues. Meanwhile, the ex-CSO is languishing in detention for alleged ‘bunkering’ related issues. Again, this may be purely coincidental but there are those who will go as far as swearing that where they come from is a factor in the way they have been treated. I am a huge fan of the DSS and its professionalism, and I believe the organisation has to pick up some learning in the manner it has handled the cases of the ex-NSA and former CSO. Each of the cases could have been better handled, without the attendant PR deficit."
Hmmmmmmmmm ..... food for thought.
