"I'm not God, but I won't recognize Saraki as Senate President- Bola Tinubu

APC leader Senator Bola Tinubu yesterday June 10th reacted to the emergence of Senator Bukola Saraki as the new Senate President, saying he cannot recognize the Kangaroo arrangement that produced Saraki as the new Senate President. Speaking at the party secretariat, Tinubu said
"I will never recognize such a kangaroo arrangement that produced Bukola as the Senate President. Or how do you want me to recognise a man who deliberately defied his own party because of his personal interest? It is not done anywhere. Therefore, recognizing Bukola as the Senate President after all he had done to our party today, having gone against the wish and pattern of our great party, honestly will amount to endorsing impunity, and which you should all know I will not.
For me to recognize Senator Bukola as the Senate President, he must show remorse for today’s action. He had earlier promised to defy the party and the deed has been done. You don’t do that in politics. Personal interest must not override that of the party that beget you. It’s a spoken and silent rule of the game, which all and sundry must abide with. I’m not God, but as far as this party is concerned, I’m a leader and I know what is good for the party at the appropriate time. Speaking now is not for the party, but for myself. I cannot recognize Bukola as the Senate President.” he said

    7. It is a regrettable lugubrious that Saraki, rebel against APC party who give him the platform to contest as a senate candidate, what is evil is when the rebellion is used to truncate a noble objective. Saraki and Dogara, are rebelling against APC and Buhari’s determination to curb corruption in Nigeria and that is not a noble rebellion. The fact that they teamed up with a group of people already rejected by majority of Nigerians for corruption and mismanagement in order to realise their personal ambitions already proves, my point. Furthermore, Saraki’s uncomfortable body language during the coup at the senate chamber day before yesterday also indicated he knew he was on an evil mission. And has anyone listened to the speeches made by these men after their ‘victory’? There is no mention of corruption war in their agenda. This evil onslaught on the common Nigerian must not stand! Saraki is corrupt.

Forget Tinubu and I am not his supporter, Sarakis act stinks impunity. We can't keep seeing wrongs and say its right , I am not in APC but when you see the way our political actors behave you will know that change is indeed far, except we all speak with a louder voice.

    4. At times I get confused at the way people reason. Sitting was fixed for 10 and some people decided to go and have a meeting with the president at 9. Should the 8th assembly wait for them to return or would they have cancelled election cos they failed to show up. Even the president didn't show up for the meeting cos the 8th assembly sittting supercedes any meeting they want to have. And Mrs. Tinubu not shaking Saraki is utterly childish. So Nigerians should wait for them or wait. The old man should accept defeat. I just like Buharis attitude towards them. I think the man sees himself more as Nigerian president and not APC member. They are on their own

afterall, if you hadn't sealed off the NASS premises with military personnel and ordered your 'schoolchildren' legislators to be at the international conference centre rather than the Assembly chambers, where they rightfully ought to have been, things may be different now ...or maybe not!!!

APC should not forget that PDP is just next door, they are watching and observing, and will ride on APC's mistake/mistakes to the top.

  83. See kettle calling pot black. Come to think of it, Oga Tinubu do you think you are in any way better than Saraki? You need not to recognise him as Senate President but God has destined him to be so. Moreover, do I hear you mention Self Interest? Pl, judge yourself.

  84. Ambitions cannot be controlled.
Respect is earned; most likely the reason people flock to who they respect.
Not everyone would accept to live with someone acting as if their destiny is solely achievable by the good graces of 1 man.

The sacking of Rome was in the hands of the Gauls who were willingly accepted into the great State.

If APC cannot learn from history then they should take refresher courses in Sun Tzu and 48 Laws of Power.

Their daily frets betray the stretched bounds to their incompetence in coordination.

  85. Oga Tinubu did you listen to yourself? In 2011 you used your ACN members and connived with rebel PDP candidates to imposed Tambuwal and Ihedioha on the House against the PDP endorsed candidates. That was not impunity abi? What goes around comes around. You have been served the same pill. Deal with it.

  89. Bukola Saraki is the true son of his father. Why did APC have to organise another meeting on the real day of the election. Was the shadow election the previous day not enough? There is no court that APC will go to that they will not tell them they got their priorities wrong. What Saraki did is what we call a workover in football matches. Where the opposing team refuses to get to the football pitch on time. Kudos to Bukola Saraki the true son of his father (Olusola Saraki RIP)

  91. I read several comments here and am now more than convince that Nigerians deserve no pity for all that has befell them. How can people be so naive or uninformed with DSTV, NTA and several radio stations? Does it mean all this people calling Tinubu names were deaf and couldn't hear the news that 51 elected Senators where shut out of the election. If 57 senators elected a leader and 51 were shut out and during that election it is the minority party that formed majority, on what basis do you think such election is legitimate? I pity Tinubu because he is trying to preach normal among abnormal people. I read the insults on him and I wonder how much of a waste many Nigerians are to their generation. If you listen to Buhari on this whole saga you will know PDP Senators supported Saraki to insult the President and defy APC. I know it will be difficult for many of you to understand the meaning of having the wrong guy as senate leaders, because you are daft. Have any of you sit and think for once that Tinubu has achieved what many of your father's could not? He is the first man in Nigeria to unseat an incumbent non performing government using a 3 times reject. When he was spending money to campaign where were you people? If one or two betrayals are trying to destroy what they are trying to build, why won't he reject such person. I see a country with no future or hope as the youths are only wise enough to drink champagne and empty to understand some real issues that affect their life.

  92. Bukola is a cancer to any party he belongs to. look at his antecedents in PDP & his state Kwara. he is a man never to be trusted. He doesn't want imposition but never ever conduct primary for his followers in Kwara, he imposes.

  98. Monkey, you are not in the senate. You are not president. You are not in any official position in the Nigerian govt where your recognition of the senate president matters. What the hell are you talking about, hm? He does not need your recognition. Times don change. You better change before you give yourself a heart attack. The days of Ass kissing are as good as gone. If you think you are the manipulator, think harder. People have learned and are perfecting your game. All men to their own.

  100. Tinubu or Saraki, everyone should understand that politics is a dirty game in Nigeria, America, or anywhere under heaven. We should all rather fight to maintain our power to vote politicians in or out of position. Anyone in position should be liable to prosecution for wrong doing; by this, we bring a level of sanity to a dirty game.

    ReplyDelete
  101. who cares if u recognize him or not, he is already the senate president and there is nothing Tinubu or anybody can do about it

    Nimelda said so......
