The First Lady of Nigeria Aisha Buhari closes beauty parlour

The First Lady, Aisha Buhari, until recently, owned one of the biggest spas and beauty institutes in the country. Situated along Camp Road, a high brow area of Ungwan-Rimi Government Residential Area in Kaduna State.

She owned Hanzy Spa and Hanzy Beauty Institute. The beauty Institute was the first beauty institute in Northern Nigeria and is a National Board of Technical Education accredited vocational training centre and registered by the Ministry of Education with the aim of exploring the untapped wealth in the emerging beauty industry.

However, since the victory of her husband in late March, Mrs. Buhari closed down the beauty parlour to take up the new role as Nigeria’s First Lady. The spa and beauty institute patronised by individuals across class, was sighted closed to the private residence of the immediate past Vice President, Namadi Sambo. The institute was consulted by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation/Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company to help train individuals under its Youth Empowerment and Skill Acquisition Programme.

Ms. Buhari, a trained esthetician who obtained a diploma in Beauty Therapy from the Carlton Institute of Beauty Therapy, Windsor, United Kingdom and a certificate course from the French Beauty School, Esthetique Academie Dubai, is a member of the United Kingdom’s Vocational Training and Charitable Trust and the International Health and Beauty Council.

In an interview she granted Thisday Style last year, the beautiful Adamawa State-born mother of five said:
“I’m a very busy person who does her things quietly. I keep to my profession as an esthetician, managing my spa and beauty institute both in Kaduna and Abuja. I also personally perform some advanced facial treatments like mesotherapy, gold facial and application of TCA etc. I have a number of documentations on my experience in this area including writing a book titled “The Essentials of Beauty Therapy."
She has since closed her beauty businesses now that she has bigger responsibilities as the First lady of Nigeria,

Punch.

    3. I so agree with U. Isn't her mantle as 1st lady to empower women. That's what her institute was doing. I get that she wouldn't have had time to really pay attention to it but I'm sure she could've found someone to run it. Then again it's Nigeria, maybe she couldn't find someone trustworthy.

What did goodluck ever do apart from cry "saboteur" at every turn. Mehn now i see why some pple think igbos shldnt be in govt. Ur xter is just so proud & weird. It wont take long b4 u segregate every other tribe. And no - goodluck was not igbo. STOP CLAIMING HIM. He was actually a decent man, he just was not a leader. I wonder what an igbo leader wld be like.

If Aguiyi ironsi was anything to go by, we have our answer......uneducated, tribalistic & bigoted. Pls watch interviews of him after he took power, and compare dt wt interviews of other leaders in d 60's. And he was only in power for 6mnths. God knows what else wld have happened after successfully removing other tribes from ministeries.

Na wah only in Nigeria do people close down a growing functional business for politics, if this business has part of youth empowerment and skill development by nnpc under it, why can't you get a good manager to run it, all those 6 grown girls you have none of them is passionate about your business to continue!!! Na wah anyway now you shouldn't be bothered about people getting spa, they will surely fly in from dubai to offer you all on your first lady bed!!!!!!!!

  36. Hmmm... She just sent some people into the labour market to swell the ranks of the unemployed!!! What she should have done was to step down from the management of the coy or sell it if she is not interested in coming back to it.The best way to tackle unemployment in any economy is by encouraging small and medium enterprises. I hope this is not the type of "change" we are into - shout "we will tackle unemployment" in public while creating unemployment by your actions in your business. We all want change from the past of wicked, descriptive, self-centered and corrupt politicians. We don't want politics that pay more than professional jobs., where MD of banks will resign to contest political position because they can "make" more money in 1 month than in 10 yr as a professional. As part of "change", accountability Aisha Buhari must come out to clarify this news. Is it that she intends to tow the path of all the former first ladies in Nigeria by creating a money spinning NGO that blackmail politicians, contractors and corporate organizations to part with colossal sum of money? At the end of the day such monies are never accounted for because there is no law or agency in Nigeria that demands accountability from NGOs like its done in developed countries. This method is usually the avenue of corruption and self aggrandizement by past first ladies in nigeria. We want change and we must DEMAND change!!! We cannot afford the new gov to take our goodwill towards it as a license to comfortably drift into the past. We are not ignorant of the facts the the same politicians who were in PDP are still the same once in APC. We have achieved change in govt through our votes. Now is the time to "police" the govt and demand the change we desire. Govt must be accountable to its citizens! Let's DEMAND CHANGE!!!

    2. Who is this person talking like an ode. It is her private business. It is not govenment business. So u cannot dictate to her on what she should do with her private business. Na your money she take set am up? What is your business if she decides to close it down? Do u know if she was making losses. She must have her reasons for closing it down which is non of your business and she owes u no explanation. If she keeps it open, it is thesame u that will come to this blog and say that she is using government money to do her private business. Patience Jonathan that stole money and opened airline has created jobs for Ghanians. Which job did she use it to create for Nigerians. Her airline is in Ghana called Peace Airline. So pls stop blowing this theivial issue out of proportion unecessarily

If she wishes to close it down or give it to someone else to manage or even sell it, it is entirely up to her. She probably doesnt trust someone to manage it because people can cheat u and disappoint u so let her be

It is thesame you that will come to this blog later and say that she is using government money for her business. Her husband has already promised to create employment. So be patient and wait for it to happen. She is not the president. This is her private business. You cannot dictate to her what to do with her private money. This is not even an issue for discussion. We should stop blowing this issue out of proportion. Its irrelevant at this stage if change of government. Nigerians grow up and bitter PDP people that lost elections give up and take a chill pill
