Oil marketers subsidy claims reeks of fraud -Okonjo-Iweala, vows not to pay unverified subsidy claims

Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has vowed not to pay oil marketers their subsidy claims, accusing them of presenting fraudulent claims with various exchange rates.

She said the marketers subsidy claims reeked of fraud and that the marketers are just out to blackmail Nigerians and make them suffer. She said this while addressing newsmen in Abuja yesterday May 23
"Marketers were asking for N159 billion for exchange rate differentials from the outstanding N200 billion.
There has been so much fraud and scam so I have refused to sign for that money but have agreed that a committee be set up involving the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to verify marketers’ claims. Marketers just want to make Nigerians suffer. I will not pay the N159 billion without verification, Nigerians should not allow themselves to be blackmailed. I will not pay the N159 billion without verification, Nigerians should not allow themselves to be blackmailed"she said

We want corruption to be destroyed yet we aren't ready make the necessary sacrifice. God bless OkonjoIweala! I pray she doesn't cave into the pressure. Marketers can grind the entire country to a standstill. Nonsense.

    9. She called for subsidy removal and it was ignored, why didnt she resign then??????? It showed she agreed she could continue running & coordinating d economy with such subsidy. Now she has failed woefully!!! Is there anything wrong with resignation for nigerian political office holders??? Especially when u know that what is being done is contravening your principles or ethics woth regards to your career??? Her choice to stay on shows consent,so she should not come crying to us...it is very simple..d same economy which she is coordinating has grinded to a halt and whose fault is it??? Abi na your Papa fault???? Olodo!!!!

    11. Okay me i dont claim to be the most conversant with this issue of subsidy and how it works. But if the government dont wanna pay the gaddamn 200billion subsidy money, then let them increase fuel to 200 or 300 per litre and make it available instead of this deadlock scarcity that is grinding the economy to a halt. Trust me even Nigerians in the diaspora are feeling the pains of our fellow Nigerians back home. Make the gaddamn fuel available for goodness sake.

They are deliberately pushing us for voting them out. Publish the names of the marketers and how much you owe them or are the marketers ghosts?

The government never wanted this subsidy but the cabals cooked food and paid musicians and the free show at oshodi park was interesting and we all where shouting occupy nigeria and forced GEJ and Ngozi to succumb to our ignorance now we are calling them names. I know GEJ made some mistakes and was very weak as a nigerian president in many sectors of our nation but in this issue of subsidy he is not to be blamed for the outcome cos he cried out when he saw what was going to happen in the future.

When this woman was telling us to REMOVE subsidy that that is where money and corruption if flowing, you people JUMPED on her neck, following paid campaignes (paid by the billionaire oil marketers). Now gbese has burst. You now want her to give into BLACKMAIL. What precedent will that set? if she gives in who is ruling this country? After all if they ever want anything, they will just threaten to quit. We MUST hold out. Can they try this is the USA? Who do they think they are to try and CONTROL the actions of a country. Afterall they need to sell to make money abi? Me I will suffer in the heat for this period. We will see who will win this battle. NAIJA WE MUST STAND.

If she couldn't fix a refinery from partial removal of subsidy, she would never have fixed anything with full removal. One single cache payment on subsidy is enough to fix the four refineries, why is she not mentioning that? Okonjo is a bastard and a fool.
