"This might be insignificant but as a doctor, I hate when our profession is brought to ridicule by some “attention seekers” who just want to paint us in bad light. The tweeter most likely didn’t know what was going on and just said what came to his mind.
Lets break down the facts. A pad was left in the woman since two days ago- two days after an operation, a woman is still in bed, just getting back on her feet. It is almost not possible to barge into the office.
Secondly, how did she see inside
of her to know if a pad was left in her tummy or not? Even an x-ray machine
would not pick up a pad in her abdomen. I am assuming it was a perineal
(Vaginal) pad and it is normal to keep pads inside women after surgery because
of bleeding. This is checked about twice a day and like any normal pad for
menses, the patient should discard it at intervals.
It was sad
that our fellow Nigerians failed to reason things out before blasting
doctors.
Nigerian doctors are well trained. We like other Nigerians have been
failed by
the system. We make do with what we can get access to. I agree that the
female
doctor was a little unprofessional but look at it- she wasn’t said to
have
insulted the woman back. The man didn’t even look at the fact that the
woman
who entered the office was invading his own Privacy as a patient too.
Nigerian patients can be very obnoxious sometimes and need harsh tones
to get messages across to them. May God
help us all.

Sweet nonsense! Coming from the doctor, all dat man said is nothing but d truth.
Now God bless This doctor for explaining at lest it has shed more light on this issue
Hmmm. Ok o.
Jesus is Lord.
Nigeran patients are thé way they are because of what they've suffered at the hands of butchers that call themselves Doctors.
I see
Ya right!!! The guy really exaggerated on the real story
Well, a Professional has spoken.
Ya right!!! The guy really exaggerated on the real story
Na you sabi
Why must the hosipital employed unprofessionalis doctors for operation before or do they want to use living being to carry out their expirement eh they should be warn their self oooooo.
What does he mean by failed to reason tinz b4 blasting doctors? No be una again? Doctors wey de even forget scissors and even dia wrist watches inside patient body. Taa!
Abegi, Doc P go and take hundreds of several seats, we all know how rude & unprofessional the medical practitioners in this country can be. I'm not saying the person that tweeted about the negligence is right but truth be told una still get a lot to learn on doctor and patient relation. Linda take note!

I bet there is more to this story that Elijah didn't pick up.
God bless dis doctor for d gracious reply. He spoke my mind and took those words rite out of my mouth.
Long Live LIB!
I asked the same question: How did she see inside of her body
I totally agree with you, she should have sepsis by now .. Not barge into an office
Hello Doctor, these pads as you mentioned have their uses, but some doctors might be negligent. I don't know about this woman but a similar experience happened where the victim did not have an operation. It was however discovered after she fainted that there was a pad in her that caused the blood that ought to flow out of her freely not to. It was treated professionally but it almost cost her life as she lost a lot of blood while they were trying to revive her. She did not know most of this of course, as she was unconscious, her mum was there the whole time.
So our dear Doctors, we know you are human, but please take extra care while taking care of us.
Linda please post, its important.
Well said bro
Shut up! Is it not a doctor @ LUTH that told a patient that he has cocroach in his heart only for real professionals in US to confirm that d cockroach was actually in d xray machine. U make do with what u have my foot!
It takes 3 to 5 days to get back on ur feet after CS or major surgery so I concur
I don't support d part of invading privacy. Sshe needs urgent attention and d Dr should have calmed her down and sort issues instead of asking her out of her office
May God help us all
Amen!
Doc p.u are foolish.quack like you.
DocP........the doctor dat attended to her was wrong to ask her to leave her office.....Its good U agreed to dat.....
Moye says so via BB Passport...Courtesy LIB....
I reserve my comment sha,,,,,,u never know might be true or not
Amen and help our Nigerian doctors too
Thanks doc. I'm a medical biochemist and agree with u on the area of being so strong after 2 days of cs
VERuLE Says-gud to kn.
doc p or watever u choose to be called. stop coming here to make noise. most Nigerian doctors are incompetent and heartless. Most hospitals employ them because they want cheap Labour. A doctor's negligence made me loose my in January. you can only speak for yourself if you think you are a doctor who treats pple with care and love. i can call hospitals and names of evil doctors who do not know their jobs.
This is not a new thing in Nigeria and our judiciary system is so poor to sue! My brother's wife had a still birth 5 days ago due negligence. Dont want to go in to detail cos it's disheartening
www.florencesweigh.blogspot.com.
The onus is on Linda to please stop publishing unverified stories, you don't have to be a doctor to know the story is not real same goes for the Dubai age restriction story.
I understand
Maybe the tweeter did not understand what happened
But this issues happen at times
It has happen to many people
When doctors forget things that are not suppose to be in their body there
Well said. May God help us
i know some Nigerians deserve to be shouted at before they come back to their senses and there are some that the moment you shout back... damn it!! you don enter ham that is when they will put more effort and bug the hell outta ya life...But i feel the doctor reacted so quickly he should still exercised patience, at least it is part of their training...The fact that Nigerians are like that doesnt mean he should act that way
It is well
...My name is simple Call Me KYKE...
Perfect response....#Amillion+1likes
Gbegboruns dem don reach there dey do CNN work for them...Odiegwu
I totally agree with the doctor. Am not a lecturer myself but the way we always jump to crucify them @ the slightest opportunity is pitiable. These are the same people we run to when we are sick. I feel for Nigerian doctors sha.
Well said. Nigerians can really make an angel look like a demon in one sentence.
Thru talk.i asked my self the same questions.
After a botched surgery here that left me with enduring post operative complications that affected my fertility ; I swore never to allow any Nigerian doctor touch me again, I have been to every continent for medical care ever since. When I had my cs, the doctor and nurse counted every swab(am sure that's what was left in her) and medical instrument that was used on me before stapling me, something very simple that ensures nothing is left inside any patient. I had surgery in dubai last year and returned home shortly after, days after, I went to a very good to have the stitches taken out, following 2 days of continued discomfort, I found out that the doctor had forgotten to remove one stitch, don't ask me how that is even possible but it happened. I ran back to have it removed which was torturous cos my skin had closed over it so they had to cut open the wound again to dig out the stitch. NO BE AM DO SURGERY ooooo.
So Oga dokinter please don't tell me nons----!
Thanks
Dr. P said it is a normal practice to leave a pad inside a CS patient to take care of bleeding, and should be checked twice daily. Now I assume the patient was not told what to do, and the pad has not been removed (changed) for about two days which prompted her action. This I can say is negligence on the part of the female doctor.
Yes ur a doctor but u make mistake as well why didn't u just relax d woman from making more scene but instead ur under stress and threw her out of the hospital only God know how she was manhandled the woman u could ve done worst damage to her and also when u release one from d hospital u could ve discussed with d woman husband or the woman herself to tell her about the whole procedure of her operation who leaves pad inside a woman's womb no one has heard of such cesaarian operation like dat all women would ve brought dat up yesterday who undergo d operation anyway customers are always right u treat dem with respect and dignity u should know dat but don't think Nigeria's are dat patient in their place of work
The female Doctor could have simply calmed the patient down and educate her, not walk her out of her office...this is very inappropriate and unprofessional
I have so many things to say about this issue and the doctor p, but i don't have time so I will just pass by mteww!!!
exactly.we are never supported by the people yet they want the best.smh
Hmmmmm...argument in d health sector
Okay. This is a case of misunderstanding
Btw the woman and the docs and the twitter user
Had to jump into conclusion without knowing
Xctly wat happened
Doc go and sit down. Doctor's of nowadays have lost it completely, instead of studying hard in the uni, most of them were busy soughting lecturers to pass and now they are out there causing havoc. Imagine a certified doctor telling pregnant woman that candida is a sexual transmitted disease(std) you see doctors of today bringing out big books infront of a patient just to know what drug to prescribe( it's a pity)
When I had batholyn cyst, I was operated upon four different times by by four different young doctors in four different hospitals yet the cyst grew back in less than one month each not until a doctor from UNTH, an old hand in the field did it and put a final stop to it.Most of you "doctor's" need to go back to school period!
While I almost completely agree with the doctor's response to the tweets, the last part is inexcusable. I respect all doctors no matter where they are trained. However, there's something called "professionalism", which most Nigeria professionals seem to lack. Under no circumstances should you respond to a patient like that. She probably doesn't understand the importance of the pad, which isn't something to be ashamed of. That's why we have doctors, they're supposed to explain to patients in layman'a terms and make sure they understand what's being said to them. The doctor doesn't deserve a medal because she didn't "insult back", she deserves to have been warned by her attending doctor if she is a resident or a superior doctor. Nigerian patients are not the only obnoxious ones, there are obnoxious patients all over the world. Need I say, no patient deserves or "need" harsh tones to get the message across. I understand you have your pride as a doctor, but remember the oath you took.
Well said
God bless u real good 4 dis comment. I luv u. If she was aware of d pad inside of her in details, she won't av to come back to quarry d Dr.
What this doctor wrote is completely true. When I had a D & C years back, a big pad was stuffed inside me to control the bleeding, it was changed after a few hours and was checked until the bleeding stopped. Some Nigerians are dumb, they do not have sense enough to know that they should get their facts right before dumbing out their words. Google is your friend, use it.
Abeg take several seats Dr P,most Drs don't know anything.it happened to my sister as well. She had a surgery which led to the Drs Opening her stomach and plastered it to heal.after a while,a female Dr forcefully opened the suture to tell us she could be discharged.till date, the suturing keeps going inside thereby bisecting her stomach into two.i cry silently whenever I see it,cos I feel sorry that when she starts planning to give birth.....i just don't want to be pessimistic abt it.the doctor told us that in no time, the suturing would blend with her skin.well it's still the same since 8years ago.some of these Drs don't know there job....
Is ur story really sweetheart
Things d happen
I like this 'Response to a topic' thing that you're doing these days..It's good FOR YOU! it can prolong a topic...more stuff to post.
Well spoken like an illiterate. Illiteracy is the major problem of Nigerians. How will abdominal scar affect fertility? Kai! So dumb!
How did she know that a pad was left inside her??
Wow! Have you forgotten that not all Nigerians have access to "Google". Also, not all Nigerians can process the facts, because some don't even have high school education. Just because you understood what you were told doesn't mean the next guy should.
Ignorant woman. U too go and sit down. Candida can be transmitted sexually.
Please elaborate on this act of negligence
With your grammar, I owe you no response. I recommend chapter 4 on Comprehensive english for senior sec. for you. (Lexis and structure).
Make sure u dnt hv any medical condition that'll warrant surgery. If such develops then, make sure u'll be operated by foreign docs or u do it urslf bc 4 ds tin u said, if u ever go 2 d 9ja doc, he'll forget d hospital bed inside u. Signed sealed n delivered
Honey let Google or Wikipedia be your friend if u didn't go to medical school so that u don't say things out of ignorance, a bartholin cyst(yes that is the way it is written) can be self limiting and can reoccur and it mostly reoccurs due to STD which can block your bartholin duct and hence it gets infected. The only way to put a stop to a bartholin cyst reoccurrence is to remove the bartholin gland and duct and that was what the 'old hand' did and the indication for that was because you said it had reoccurred twice. Most of us doctors don't need to go back to school we need u patients to stop coming with the purpose of undermining us
Its called a laparotomy darling look it up and receive sense
If the doctor had explained to the woman that a pad was left inside her, I don't think that she will react the way she did. The doctor got it wrong here.
He wasn't wrong to hv asked her to leave becos he was seeing another pxt. But thr manner in which he asked her to so should be our concern.
Ur story sounds like a big lie. U had surgery in dubai and removed ur stitches in nigeria.mschew
Pls go and read. Candida can be sexually transmitted altho not strictly
Coming from someone whi has never left the shores of Nigeria. Whose only idea of doctor patient relationship comes from the telemundo. Babe STFU. And Linda can note that too.
This one is a fool oo.Candidiasis is a sexually transmitted disease madam bartholyn cyst inugo? Don't com here to speed rubbish.ignoramus!
You should return to school and learn proper use of English. Where exactly did you school?
I was wondered too after reading d story ds morninghow d woman will know a pad is left inside her body,d guy really over exaggerated d whole scene
Linda what happened to my comment na, if you like don't post, I've said my own....
U r a Dunse! Yet u open ur garbage illiterate mouth to speak to a professional??? Smh...u shd be in a primary school, not on LIB!
The fact dat nobody replied ur daft comment means dey all already know how stupid u are, and have chosen to ignore u...silence is d best answer for a fool! just letting u know
Just to add to what the doctor said, a pad is left in a woman's vagina after cs, since doctors know she cannot move about to adjust or change the pad. The pad should be changed at intervals, but that is the duty of the nurses, not the doctors. Furthermore, if the nurses forgot to change it, the woman should have asked them to. The fact that she had an operation and couldn't move about does not mean she could not talk either. Lastly when it comes to the issue of forgetting instruments in patients, it happens everywhere in the world, not only in Nigeria. If you read Daily Mail regularly, every week you'll read stories of medical negligence. Doctors are human too. God help us all
Mumu ebonyi state doc.....who's d fool here? U!!! U just replied me. Senseless goat. Buhahahaha! Nwanne gaan die if u cnt stand my comments. Yeye de smell
'We,like other Nigerians have been failed by the system........' to all Gej supporters: read beyond the lines.......Change is all we want. March4Change.

Yes my story is VERY true. For the madam questioning removing stitches here. Yes I did. I had surgery at SGH dubai to remove a lipoma and returned home cos the visa nashort stay , I then removed the stitches here in Naija.
